My original review was out of anger. Let me explain. She was an hour late to our first meeting. Huge red flag. I should have walked away. I wanted to do a bankruptcy and despite being annoyed about her being late, she explained the process thoroughly. We were in the process of doing the bankruptcy when my father unexpectedly died. That thew a monkey wrench for me. I was seven months pregnant, moving, and now dealing with my father's estate. I was due to get 5k from a life insurance policy (He had major cancer and couldn't get much) and the funeral was 12k. I asked if the money would be taken in the bankruptcy and she responded, "You can't get something for nothing. " I was highly offended but I paid over the retainer so thought I already had money into it, finish with her. I told her I needed some time before filing and she reminded me I only had six months. About two months before the deadline she emailed me repeatedly and I asked her to stop that I had a lot in my plate. She got angry with me and sent me emails telling me how patient she was and that I wasn't the only one stressed about home life. She has kids and her own stresses. While I understand that, it was unprofessional and insensitive to my situation. Her retainer was 300 and I gave her 500 just to get the ball rolling. I understand the retainer is non refundable but I felt I should get the additional money back since it wasn't required but she refused. I was going to pursue it but at that point I had so much going on that I gave up. She should have returned $200 no questions. She did offer to continue to represent me, however at this point, why would I feel comfortable with this person representing me in court? read more
