This club is pretty nice and very laid back chill environment. The dancers were friendly and welcoming, and none of the interactions felt rushed or aggressive. Definitely a nice club overall to get a few lap dances and some drinks. This club does have a VIP section that is available. We got there about 10:30pm on a Friday night and it was dead, a girl would dance and then there would be no dancer or anything for a while, then finally someone would show up and dance. More people started showing up around midnight and then girls started dancing more consistently. I probably wouldn't come back the next time I am in town. Worst experience I have ever had in a strip club - they will bring you to the private room offering one price and then when you come out, charge you almost 10x the price you thought it would be (7.25x the price to be exact). This place was disappointing. We went this weekend and it was just, weird. The girls were like ROBOTS. There were two girls to a stage, and all they did was walk down the row of guys sitting there like it was an assembly line for them to show off their goods. Barely any dancing, (and I mean hardly any at all.) I tried to look several of them in the eye to get their attention, but all they do is stare blankly at nothing, and randomly crawl over to another guy to give him a mini strip tease or grind on him or the stage for a few seconds. How is this stripping? It's more like a cattle call. I've been to quite a few strip clubs in different states and I felt so weird at the Lumberyard. These girls do NOT look like they enjoy what they do, and if that is the case, they should find a different job. Going here made me feel BAD for them. Every other place I've gone the girls at least know how to make the customers have a fun time, either by talking to them or having fun on stage. There was none of this at The Lumberyard. The layout is also horrible. Cramped bar stools lined up along high stages, but tons of room along the walls. If you aren't sitting at the edge of the stage, you won't get ANY attention. I think we had maybe 3 or 4 girls come up to us the whole night, and we were there at least four hours. I am a good looking girl, and my boyfriend and his two friends are young, in shape, attractive, and respectful guys. So what gives? Two stars for the small amount of fun I did have dancing to a few good songs that played, and the upstairs area in the back with the VIP looking booth we sat at for free. Also, we had no problems with the bouncers or management. I feel bad for people who think this is a great strip club. Most of the guys there looked like they were having fun (for obvious reasons) and I don't blame them, but they probably don't know what a real strip club is like so they have nothing to compare it to. I don't know how this place isn't on Yelp yet since there are hundreds of reviews on a local Iowa rating site, and when I tried to add a review there it wouldn't let me submit it. I love Iowa, as well as the Lumberyard. I've never seen a strip club where you can bring in your own beer, that's nuts to see people walking around with cases of beer. Cover is $15.00, not too bad - about the average price for strip club admittance. Lots of good looking girls (wasn't initially sure what to expect from Iowa strippers). Lots of fun and friendly interactions with the girls, a lot of the dancers actually seemed to be having fun an chit-chatting with guests. Really cool layout, there is 3 different stages that are on different levels that are all connected. Pretty sweet trip! Im a travel dancer i live in vegas originally from austin tx. I worked a week here. Im gonna say i deff like this club, tall spinning poles 2 on the main stage, then regular poles on the 2nd and 3rd stage. Vip rooms, byob i thought i wouldn't like that about a club but i just came from a club that did serve alcohol n when i turned down a drink it was bad for alcohol sales so id end up taking my drink in the back and not drinking it, or giving it away :) hehe.. Im smart, after so many shots i dont want any more drinks, so i like that we can bring our own drinks here, n dancers wont be pressured into getting drinks, tho if they did serve alcohol im sure it would be better for business, n then maybe the girls could keep more of the vip section sales, when i 1st got here i broke a few rules accidentally cause i didnt know those where the rules, the rules where explained to me wrong the 1st time. One girl called me a slut the 1st day when i walked by, she was a house girl n was talking smack about me to the make up artist. I didnt really care, "haters make me famous" as long as she left me alone i can work w. Girls who hate on me. The rest of the dancers where nice. The customers where "mostly" nice. Compaired to the ones in vegas. They r big on being respectful here, the manager got upset @ me for not saying thank you one time, but that was b.c. i have add, n was in the dressing room w. A bunch of naked women running around me, talking to me, while i was trying to get me stuff 2gether to leave so i forgot. Then later said ty. In vegas and most other clubs they keep it freezing cold, which in my opinion is better cause then ur not sweaty, sweating on the poles, or customers, it got so hot up there sometimes it was mind numbing. After i got off stage id run up stairs and stand out in the out door cold smoking section to cool down. They take more out of the vip sections from the dancers then any other club i have worked @ maybe cause no alcohol sales, i heard a manager say something about how vegas has high house fees, n thats why the clubs in vegas give the dancers there more from vip sales and they should do it like vegas does it. Im just gonna mention that if they do it that way the clubs i work @ hustler and crazy horse 3, have a time frame that if dancers come in early its free, thats when i come in. Clubs in vegas make alot of money off alcohol sales also. The girls are hot in my opinion, and i have seen them enjoying there selves, i read the one review where she said the girls looked like robots. I like this club tho i wish they wouldn't keep it so hot up stairs, n it would be nice if they could figure out a way to give the girls more percentage from dance sales. Maybe next time a take a trip out here ill bring my 2 roommates from vegas. I didnt like working on the weekends so much, it was to packed up stairs in the dressing room for me. In my experience, you get to choose how much fun you have. The nicer you are to them the better they will treat you! I've never had any complaints from respectful, paying customers. I cannot comment on the dancers as I arrived at about 335 and it was too late to request a private dance. What I can say is the establishment itself was extremely clean, it was well maintained! From the moment I walked in the front to the main entrance I was a bit skeptical going to a strip club. Sade was the cashier she was open and honest that they would be closing soon and was extremely polite and caring. Her customer service was outstanding! As I waited for an uber she talked to me and treated me with respect and genuinely was friendly! During my short visit I also had the chance to meet with the manager, Kurt! Being someone that worked in restaurants and management for 10+ years he really impressed me. He allowed me to wait in the front for my uber and was apologetic about the circumstances and closure. He was also very kind and friendly! He refunded me for the inconvenience as well! Being that I worked in customer service for so many years I can honestly say these two are truly exceptional! Lumberyard is truly fortunate to have them at their establishment! Kudos to them both and their above and beyond excellent customer service!
