Like most restaurants, they're understaffed so it took forever to get the order and the food delivered. Stand outs were the large lobster portions on the lobster bisque. Next was the killer banana waffles, the praline sauce was superb, the cream brûlée banana with caramelized sugar is excellent the dish is highly recommended. The Poke and the chilaquiles was ok. The Lowry, located about 10 minute car ride south of downtown, serves pub style food with the addition of some interesting entrées. And its menu is wide enough to satisfy vegetarian and vegan tastes. Still, I go for the simple but terrific BLT with its thick bacon. I usually throw a cup of one of their really good soups. Service is very good as is the choice of cocktails and beers. I enjoy eating here as the atmosphere is nice as well as, the staff! They also grande ample free parking which is a huge plus!!! I don't restaurant a lot these days because I can't afford a second round of covid, so item one on my review is, of course, the patio. Open in the warmer months, which in Minnesota means whenever we can deal with sitting outside, the patio is a surprisingly pleasant oasis of quiet and peace. This is because the patio is surrounded by parking lots, and thus there's a physical barrier between the patio and the sidewalk. I've found this a nice spot to sketch or paint the neighborhood. Anyway, now that you've discovered the strange delight of an oasis in a parking lot, into what we came for. The food here is good. Honestly I keep eating the oatmeal. I eat oatmeal every day at home and then I come here and can't resist because their oatmeal is just amazing. Brunch food is always good food. This place is located uptown and is open for dining. We went during a weekday so it was not packed but we did make a reservation. The food came out pretty fast which is a plus when you're hungry. Eggs Benny - the poached eggs had the perfect runs. It was tasty. The downside was the hash, which was REALLY salty! It was a disappointment since I love hash brown and it was perfect to me. The crispy was just right. 4/5 American Breakfast - Just a typical American breakfast platter. Boyfriend ordered this and he loved the scrambled eggs the most. He said it was very fluffy and delicious. He's right, it was good. The bacon was not too oily and was crispy enough. Toast could have been toasted up a little bit more. His hash brown was also very salty. 4/5 Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal. Came here for brunch on Sunday morning with a friend. This is my second time being here over the past couple of years and I think now that I live in the twin cities this will be one of my go-to brunch spots in Minneapolis! We both ordered the Chilaquiles which were excellent!! So flavorful and the chips added a nice crunch element to the dish. Interestingly enough, some of the best chilaquiles I've had out of everywhere I've lived over the years (CA + TX). The Lowry has a solid ambiance with comfy chairs and a beautiful bar, but I think the price point still needs to be supported with better food and service. Given the location I feel like this place reaps the benefits of high traffic without really meeting any high expectations. I came here with a new friend for happy hour, and the deals were ok, with a dollar or two off of the cocktails and a couple dollars off of the appetizers as well. The service was quite slow after ordering and it took a couple of times to get water as well as to get the check. I didn't feel as though they were understaffed either. As for the food, the Brussel sprouts were crunchy but greasy and mostly air for the price. I liked the flavor but was still disappointed by them. We also ordered their chicken tenders, they were well seasoned but a bit on the dry side. My favorite part of my visit was the drink I had. The dynamic duo was refreshing and colorful, and generous in serving. My friend Moscow mule felt like it was mostly ice though. Overall I think the Lowry is overpriced when compared to something like Martina. I'd give them another star if their parking lot was fixed and open but it wasn't and street parking was tough to find. read more

I was here for Sunday brunch. The food options are unique, with some standards too. The pancakes are a perfect mix of fluffy and substantial, hash browns done just right. Two of my friends got the same meal, the French toast chicken stack, but their plates looked pretty different. It looked like perhaps the kitchen ran out of the thick cut bread for French toast... one friend got thin slices... but no mention of a reason for this by the server. The atmosphere was cozy, but the temperature was far too high. I was sweating throughout my meal, and it wasn't very relaxing. I got anxious waiting for the server to come by with the bill, and was relieved to get outside. Not the best brunch experience today. I wish there was a larger portion size for the appetizers though. The food took almost an hour to come out so the whole group got pretty hungry. OVERALL: A solid uptown spot. Definitely prefer this place over freehouse which has the same owners. LOGISTICS: Parking in their large parking lot, walked in on a Friday night. Easy! DRINKS: We ordered the Moscow mule and the hibiscus cosmo. Both were decently strong and good in flavor! FOOD: we ordered the salmon scramble and the steak and pierogis. I am still raving about the steak and pierogis. The flavors are amazing, my steak was cooked absolutely perfectly (better than some steakhouses I've been to) and all of the flavors just melted in my mouth. With the creamy horseradish (I'm usually not a fan of horseradish and I loved it) and an Asian sauce (Szechuan?) that was an unexpected flavor in this dish but added to the depth of flavor. The salmon scramble was simple and delicious. I was worried that the cream cheese in the eggs would be overpowering but the dill really offset that. Visiting from Hawaii! We came on a Sunday morning. Place wasn't so busy. However, the 2 females at the front told us it would be a 15 minute wait to be seated. "Ok, no problem" we thought as we gave them our cell phone number in order to be notified when a table was ready. We waited 25 minutes and saw MULTIPLE groups go in and get seated. I was optimistic and thought ok, they ALL probably had reservations. No biggie right? There were 3 obvious groups being seated (white, black, Muslim.) We were warned by locals that this place may refuse to serve us because of our appearance. They said we'd be grouped in with Hispanic or Native American people which are apparently widely discriminated against in Minneapolis area. Anyways, we decided to leave. We walked past the entrance in clear view of the 2 female employees who took our cell number down. And what do you know... As soon as we get into our car rental and drive off, we get a text. They said our table was ALMOST ready. WOW talk about timing right. I don't think it was a coincidence. They knew what they were doing. So no, I can't rate the food. But I sure as hell can rate the service. Definite ZERO stars across the board. Regardless of what those 2 female employees may have assumed our race/ethnicity to be, we should not have been discriminated against like so. As I've mentioned before, MULTIPLE groups of people in other race categories were seated IMMEDIATELY while we were left standing around outside. It's 2021. We should be past this race discrimination thing, no? I guess not here at the Lowry. I do NOT recommend this place to any Hawaii locals. Please stay away unless you want to experience this first hand. It's a bit ironic I think. In Hawaii, us locals are expected to be welcoming to every single person who comes through the airport. I've been in a couple of times recently and had great experiences. I was able to get tables using the online reservation service. (It wasn't necessary the second time though. The restaurant wasn't very busy.) It's kind of a weird time where things are shifting back to normal, but covid precautions are still being followed. The menu is found online using a QR code at the table. It's still weird adjusting to that, but most places are doing that. (It makes sense, but I do miss holding a physical menu at times.) Anyways, the service was good both times. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals and the food came out quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed eating here again, just as I have in the past. This is a great spot for brunch! I'm sure it would be a delicious dinner as well although I have not gotten to experience that just yet. We visit here often on the weekends and, keep in mind, there can be an hour long wait sometimes. If you are waiting, try to grab a drink from the bar. I love their bloodys! The best part is their amazing cheese they garnish it with. I need to figure out where they get it cause i could eat that stuff as a snack. They also have a large selection of good beers on tap. Their food is always good. No matter what you get. You have to try their tomato soup though. Seriously, it's the best soup I have ever had. It has pesto basil mixed in and it's all covered in a layer of melty cheese. Even better, it has cute goldfish crackers on the side. We come here frequently with a large group of 10-15 people. On multiple occasions we've had Lexi as a server and I can't say enough good things about her. She is so incredibly kind and does an absolutely fantastic job taking care of our group. Her personality is bubbly and vibrant. She has the service down to a science. Our drinks stay full. Our food is out all together, hot, and delivered in a timely manner. She gets all our bills taken care of smoothly. We've taken our group to other restaurants in the area and they seem visibly and audibly annoyed by us being there. I get it, we're a big group at the end of the night. It can't be easy. Overpriced with sub-par food. We got the sweet potato appetizer, and they were complete mush. I'm not even sure how a chef with any dignity could serve sweet potatoes that under done to customers. They literally mushed in our hands while trying to dip them into the sauce (which was fabulous). On top of that, it was a tiny serving for an appetizer and cost just as much as an entree. Secondly, the aperol spritz was good - but again, the cost of an entire appetizer while being 99% ice. The Baja bowl was good. But that's it, just good. Pre-Covid: Great food, often went during HH, dinnertime, brunch. Food, drinks, service was always great. During covid: Food and service is still great. Before covid parking was very rough in this area but with them using part of the lot for outdoor dinning, and timed visits (2hr limit) the parking wasn't bad at all. We did make reservations and there was a bit of a hiccup with a party going over the 2 hr limit but they made sure to keep us updated and get us seated as quick as they could, so no biggie. The drink I originally ordered was "out of stock" (which is crazy because thinking back this was the second restaurant/bar in uptown to be sold out of a drink I wanted in the same day, lol), was a little annoying situation with a replacement I didn't like and sent back (but still paid for) again no biggie because it just meant I didn't need a drink. We went on Mothers day, brunch time. Two people at our table ordered the mother's day special- Short Rib Bolognese, and they both enjoyed it. My sister got the Nashville Fried Chicken sandwich, she said it wasn't spicy or seasoned [well] at all. I got the Parmesan-Crusted Grilled Cheese & cheese curds, Both were very good. I finally got to check out the Lowry after being in the Twin Cities and hearing such good things about it. On a Sunday around noon we arrived and were told there would be about a 10 min wait. The place was fairly packed and the "wait" turned out to actually be only about 5 mins. We got seated out on the patio and it was lovely. Brett was our server and he took good care of us. I had the Steak and perogies and my friend had the biscuits and gravy. I was thoroughly impressed with the kick of flavor the Steak had and since I ordered it well done and I was also happy at how tender the Steak tasted. This was the first time I had tried perogies and they were so delicious. I personally like them more than cheese curds if you're into them. The cheesy goodness was just right and the flour dough texture kind of reminded me of Asian dumplings. The steak sauce ( I think the secret is the soy sauce) was a nice compliment to the perogies for dipping. I did not eat much of the fried onions as I saw them more like a garnish. Since the Lowry does not do bottomless mimosas like their other partner blueplate locations such as Mercury, for example, I capped out at one glass and then filled up on water. I went here yesterday for brunch and it far exceeded my expectations. We put our name on the waitlist before we arrived which was really nice. We were seated almost immediately too! I ordered the sweet potato hash which they were able to make vegetarian. It was very flavorful, they gave a good portion and the sweet potatoes were cooked to perfection. I also enjoyed the rye bread. My friend got the chilaquiles which he really enjoyed. It's a Mexican fish with chorizo, black beans, eggs, hash browns and peppers. It looked so fresh and flavorful. I really liked the notepad, pencils and matches on the table. That was a nice touch. It wasn't too loud which was really nice because I always find that's the case when going out to lunch. Our sever was in training and did a wonderful job. The bathrooms are pretty cramped but they have a parking lot you can park in! I ordered the eggs a Benedict again (my go to) and felt that it was pretty average. Nothing really tasted fresh or made it feel like it was freshly made - not that it was bad - but it really didn't stand out to me. positive: eggs were cooked perfectly. The place itself is cute and has a parking lot (huge win for this part of town). Waiter was nice and attentive.
