We booked for Sunday lunch with some friends. A pub that was half way between us. We walked in to a very friendly atmosphere. We noticed that the restaurant was ready laid and apart from the bar. Immediately we sat down drinks order was taken and, what seemed immediately, drinks arrived. Great service, so far. We all ordered their Sunday roast. Choice of four or five meats. The plates of food arrived, the HOT plates. Now that was a nice change. Normally it is on cold plates. Kept the food hot throughout the eating. The plates were overflowing with delicious meats, numerous vegetables, real roast potatoes and a large Yorkshire pud. So much that a few of us never did finish it all. Coffee was delicious, well after that meal we couldn't face a dessert. Service was brilliant and friendly, yet professional. Would I go back again. A definite YES.

The beer is always good and shows that they take care and pride in the maintenance of the beer lines. Food is typical pub food, it's not a gastro pub and doesn't pretend to be. Portions sizes are reasonable as are the prices, food is always served hot and prompt. The real jewel in the crown though is the beer garden, a raised patio gives way to a nice lawned play area perfect for kids and all surrounded by trees that border the fields it sits within. Dogs are allowed but obviously kept on leads. Slightly off the beaten track but worth finding, especially on a hot summers day.

I am not sure whether they are residents or customers from the pub. I wondered about the pollution they were causing. +The pub inside looked cosy and pretty and I liked the rural heritage of the brass plates. There were loads of soap star celebrity autographs hanging on the wall and a phone bill for £10 k that the pub was asked to pay (it was probably an error). ++There is a sign saying no children (think it said no under 21s too) which is a good thing. - Despite the rural location, with lots of ramblers, they did not se rve hot drinks like coffees, like a lot of pubs do nowadays. This isn't very good for freezing walkers, or those would rather not drink and drive. Very limited non-alcoholic drinks and ones hat were offered were pricey. - I felt this pub was more of a 'man's pub'. I had a super steak and ale pie, served with roast potatoes; my mum had a stew served in a giant, fluffy Yorkshire pudding and my partner had a Thai curry. We were all really impressed and for less than £25 all in, we'll be back.
