This restaurant is truly a gem, the bar's lighting and decorum really gives you a chill vibe and the music was great. I cannot say enough good things about the service - I can tell the owner really cares for his customers and was on top of things. How is this place allowed to tell customers to leave when you haven't even finished your food and drinks? This is one of the worst spots I've ever been to! I heard so many good things and decided to come for the first time and it was by far the worst experiences I've had in a long time. So I get here and everything is good. The food, margaritas and service were decent. They told us that after 90 mins they would need the table but if we wanted to stay they would accept us so no biggie, I was fine. So our 90 mins are up and they told us they needed the table which is fine but when I asked where can we go and finish our pitcher the server basically told us we had to leave and she would give us to go cups because there was no place for us to stand. How is this possible? First of all it's illegal to leave any establishment with alcohol and how is it legal to sell me food and drinks and not allow me to finish it? I have been a frequent customper of "The Last Stop" for 2 years. I was me to the neighborhood and a fellow colleague introduced me to the restaurant. We had always enjoyed our time until today. I had to step outside to take a meeting(I am a teacher). Which ultimately took an abundance of my time. Upon my return we(45mins later) made a final order. 10 minutes pass and we are told that "there are no more fish tacos and your 90 minutes are up im bringing your check after you last round of drinks." I was not given an alternative food option and the waitress was very abra in her delivery. I hen asked to speak with a manager no one was available nor did the woman come and address the table when we complained about her service. I personally will never visit this establishment again. Despite this only being their soft opening, this place is already really good. It's basically a combination of a bar and an Indian fusion restaurant. Given the beer selection (24 beers on tap) and the decor, it looks like they're currently splitting the difference between a craft beer place and a sports bar. Normally it would probably be better to go in one direction or the other, but given that this is a college town that may actually make sense. As for the food, the kati rolls were good and definitely worth getting. They were more flavorful than most kati and the wrap had a nice texture. They had a good kick but weren't overly spicy or salty, like kati can occasionally be. The highlight though was clearly the butter chicken wings. These could easily make a top ten list for best wings in the city. Visually they look a bit inspired by the fried chicken at Root & Bone, with their pops of color from the lemon zest and shaved microgreens, but the flavor is completely unique. You can definitely taste the butter chicken, but there is some other interesting stuff going on in there as well. Super moist on the inside too, perhaps more so than any other wing I've ever had. They're also served with both a green sauce and ranch dip, and they're absolutely amazing when dipped in either (or both). We happen to live in the neighborhood, but I think this dish is original (and good) enough to be worth a trip for. I think Indian fusion concept is definitely promising. On the north side of Van Cortlandt park we already have SJ Indian, which if not for the fact that it's a couple hundred yards into Yonkers would easily be one of the best Indian places in NYC. And on the east side of the park we also have Aman, which is ridiculously good Pakastani. The Indian fusion category seems to just be getting started (at least here in NYC) within the last two or three years, so already this place starts out near the top just by default. But more than being just worth trying by default, it's already really good and I feel like this is a culinary direction with a lot of potential to explore. This is my favorite neighborhood bar near 242nd street. They have happy hour until 8pm and the drinks are strong and the guacamole and chips are tasty. My only qualm about this place is when i ordered guac and chips to go they gave me a condiment size serving (you know the container you get for ketchup??) for $8! It's unacceptable and i expected an actual serving that i paid actual money for for guacamole. I was a disappointed because i really like this place. The guacamole is so good and so are the chips. I honestly feel kind of cheated, but will come back and let PD, the owner, know as he is very open to suggestions about the place. Friday night, the entire bar was packed out with locals, family, friends all having a great time. People were enjoying the music and the company they were surrounded with. I went back last night to have my sister check out the spot. It was a bit slower than the previous night but again, it's been a soft opening weekend so the neighborhood isn't really sure this place is open yet. We tried the paneer kati rolls, the butter chicken sampler and the butter chicken wings. Everything was so delicious. There was an explosion of flavor the minute you bit into the Kati roll. I've had Kati rolls in the city but they were either too spicy, too messy or just not what I want. These Kati rolls were just perfect, they came with a side of mint chutney. The star of the menu though, is definitely the butter chicken wings. They are some of the best wings I've ever had. The sauce slathered on the wings was just perfection, flavor was out of this world and unlike anything I've tried before. The food was amazing, but the drinks were out of this world. I highly recommend Next Stop, Tequila and the Broadway Buzz. Both were equally delicious, refreshing and just what I needed.
