Drinks took 20 min to come out and we were told the bartender was too busy for special orders. Supervisor tried to say the drink was a special boozy mix. Fries were undercooked and flaccid. Burgers were good but not made as requested. Water was served to the table at room temperature and no cutlery or napkins, even after requested. The table next to us waited 45 min for food and we were served ahead of them despite ordering after. Our server seemed pretty high, but he was pretty chill so was all good. Burgers taste delicious. Meat is gluten-free, so if you can't eat wheat, you can get the burger and the toppings and the fries with no bun. (this and the Jack Astor's on Hunt Club are the only restaurants I know of that are open really late that have gluten-free options) Downside: kind of expensive; bad parking if you drive. read more

Not sure how this place only has 3 stars. My son and I were in Ottawa for 5 days. We ate here 3 times!! I had literally the best grilled cheese sandwich of my life. If you order it, get it with King Eddy sauce and a fried egg! Unreal. My son's poutine had the best-tasting gravy of any poutine I've tried. And his burger looked really good too. To top it off, this place has a great patio that is a prime location to do some people watching near Byward market. I highly recommend this restaurant. Service was great too! read more

We went for lunch on a Saturday around 1 pm. The place was hopping. Great retro decor. Tables cramped close but good atmosphere. They serve Bridgehead coffee hot and delish. We ordered the main Eddy burger all dressed and shared side of sweet potato fries. Food was very good. Unfortunately the service was too slow to the point I got annoyed. Haha you never want that. People next to us arrived well after us and got their order right away. Table next to us arrived well before us but got served after us. I don't mind waiting, but please serve people in proper sequence. Grrr Also the host who greeted us was a little too casual. I thought a client was talking to us when we walked in until I realized he was the greeter. Whatever. No biggy. But it's the little things that get you on your first visit. Amazing. My friend and I were looking for late night food and read good reviews about King Eddy and their fried chicken. The second we walked in we were treated like we were the only customers, outstanding service. A gentleman employee by the name of Xavier suggested we get the King Eddy burger. Best choice ever. The burger was incredible...full of flavor and nicely assembled with all the fixings. The fries were delicious. We went here for brunch sometime in August before the long weekend. We picked this restaurant due to the reviews we had seen. I loved the decor , the servers were good. We placed the order as soon as we could and was waiting ... Dey served us the coffee and shakes - which came quite fast. And then there was this long long wait , I cld see groups who came after us getting d order , almost finishing it , then leaving too . So midway We remind the sever " in case you guys missed, we had placed some order" and they said it's on d way and we waited and waited. Until it was almost 1.5 hrs and then we walked and told d main guy( not sure, but he looked like d supervisor kind a ) and then at the end we did get the order. That was totally unexpected. I guess they had forgotten or missed not sure, we had to go and remind them . Although they approached us well , did a 10% or 5% adjustment in our cheque too. but we we dead hungry, by the time food arrived. Keeping this apart, if I rate the food - it was fine, not great. The best one we picked was Northern Fried Benny , the chicken was perfect. So the rating is for the delay majorly and the food ... the decor ambiance for a Sunday brunch is really good. Shouldn't have to ask for such menial, obvious things. Over an hour wait for an appetizer (which we didn't actually get) Food sits and waits at warming station forever with staff just perplexed. They are overstaffed there considering most runners aren't doing anything helpful or even offering any explanation. While in Ottawa for an afternoon a couple weeks ago, we found ourselves aimlessly walking around Byward market looking for somewhere to grab a late lunch. After veto'ing what felt like 500 places, we finally settled in here (because of positive reviews of course)! The three of us decided to share the nacho fries and then we each got a sandwich (12' hot dog, burger, and fried chicken). I also ordered a banana milkshake because reviews were positive about the shakes so I figured that I should I just live a little and get one. The shake came out first and holy moly was that thing phenomenally delicious!!!! It was hands down the best banana milkshake I've ever had in my entire life. I could've drank that thing for days and still wouldn't have had enough! Everything that followed unfortunately just couldn't measure up. The loaded fries were good but not amazing, as was my chicken sandwich. My lunch mates had similar comments about the burger and the hot dog so overall a solid 3/5 but the milkshake deserved an extra star all on its own so that elevated the overall rating. In conclusion, come here and grab a bite but don't leave without trying a shake. Next time I'm in Ottawa, you better believe that I'll be coming here for a milkshake!!! read more

Always a super long wait. The sweet potato fries are great, everything else pretty average. If you ask they'll do a sweet potato fry poutine which I also enjoy. Had a bad experience here with the waitress. My friend from abroad didn't tip since 1. They aren't accustomed to it in their country, and 2. Her service was pretty poor, so I had zero qualms. Upon paying, made she to yell "AND NO TIP, thanks for nothing" She of course walked away fast enough before anything could be said in response because she's also clearly a coward. Just kinda put into perspective how entitled people can be. And coming from a place of hardly ANY privilege, I felt zero remorse and was insanely pissed off. Great place for breakfast in an area of town where you may expect to pay more, decent servings and great option of salad or home fries, went with the salad and it was great, fresh and tasty. Just added an egg and toast for my kid so didn't have to buy another meal that he wouldn't finish, and I probably would! Great tunes for my taste and relaxed vibe. Holy crap!!! My friend and I went here at the end of the night of our Sunday night pub crawl and were pretty happy we randomly went in. We each got a build your own burger and a shake, both were enough to make us crave to go back. The burger was so delicious and juicy and so big we had to use a fork and knife. We went for brunch on July 10, 2016. Unfortunately for us, we had a wheelchair bound member of our party. We could not access the restaurant through the front door as there were stairs only. We were instructed to go around back through the building doors and into the restaurant that way. Can you imagine if all females or males were told they need to use the back door? We spoke to the owner, who said he met all requirements for access by as per city bylaws and when we asked directly if he would even look at changing the access in the front, he replied that no he would not. It would be a simple fix, remove the two steps and replace them with a ramp going into the door. He was not interested and got quite testy when we pushed on this point. He raised his voice and started waving his hands in the face of our guest. To say we were not impressed would be an understatement and we will definitely not return. The King Eddy blew any further chance at our business, not only by being defensive when asked if he could be more accommodating to the disabled, but also by becoming outright rude. read more
