First time customer, recommended by one of my coworkers. Outstanding service by a young woman named Jessica. She was able to squeeze me in on Thursday morning. The Kar Shop diagnosed my clutch issues on my Jeep, as well as did an 21 point inspection. They emailed me the inspection results, with, what I considered to be fair price estimates on parts and labor. Once I gave Jessica the go ahead to do the work, they ordered the parts and told me they would do everything possible to have my Jeep fixed by Friday at closing. (Shop closed on weekends.) First of all, I wanna say... this is the most honest kar shop I've been to! I love that there are women who work there and deal with customers because I don't feel intimidated or like they are trying to shake me of my money. My car has a few things that I need fixed however the girl Jessica was very helpful to recommend what is urgent and what can wait. One of the fixes were a little over $400 and the other was $900. I thought how it was cool that she wasn't pressuring me into getting everything fixed at once and luckily the urgent fix was the $400. They brought my car to discount tires as well to take a look at things they didn't specialize in. I love that!! They allowed me to leave my car there for days until I had the money to get it fixed. Lastly, the owner Kris followed up to make sure everything that my car was working well after the repairs. Great customer service! This place is awesome, friendly, reasonable, honest and overall a reliable company! I definitely recommend The Kar Shop, as I too was skeptical about trying a new shop. We've worked with Kris for years (even before he owned this shop when he worked elsewhere). Here is my summary: 1). He knows cars - he's has worked on various older cars that I have and has consistently fixed them well. When my minivan broke down and it had to be towed to The KAR shop, my Dad was with me and when he saw Kris look at the van and diagnose the problem, my Dad said: 'He is like the Car Whisperer!'. I agree! 2). He will let you know what repairs 'could be' done, but more importantly, Kris will let you know which ones are more critical and why, and which ones could wait. I appreciate that he doesn't push every repair that 'could be' performed. 3). Prices are reasonable - while you may find some shops that may do cheaper work (although there aren't many), the KAR shop prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely better (and better quality) than any dealer or chain car shop. I highly recommend this auto shop. Try it. You will be back. read more

Hallelujah!!!! It's so nice to FINALLY find an honest, reliable, mechanic! I took my Chevy Tahoe to them a couple of months ago for a broken water pump. Their quote was the best in town and didn't go up a penny when we got it back. They didn't call us back with a list of other things that "needed" to be replaced either. We were super happy! Then last week my husband's Tundra had problems... they fixed it for super cheap and then told us they did a thorough inspection on the engine and despite the high mileage, that it's in great shape!! Cannot express how good it is to find a good mechanic!! We've had the worst luck in the past, so it's such a relief!!! read more

Since new I have had my oil changed at the dealer. I thought I would give this place a try since they are just around the corner from my house. I have a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 that requires the removal of the rock guard underneath. They didn't remove it and oil poured all over the pan and no one cleaned it up. When I got home, I had oil all over my driveway and garage. Needless to say I was somewhat upset. I took it back and they cleaned it up nicely and offered 2 free oil change coupons. I passed on the coupons and I'm now back at the dealer.. Lesson learned. If you have a Tacoma, 4x4, tell them to remove the pan. read more

I have not been there in a while. When I was there the owner Kris was rude and thought that he was doing me a favor by waiting on me. I wanted an estimate and he was upset that they did not work on the car then. An estimate is just that, an estimate. No work - just an estimate. They had done some other work on my car prior with no outstanding results. There are too many other good mechanics to go to. Choose another shop. Perfect local shop. Do not go here if you are looking for cheap. Go here if you want great service at a reasonable price. Don't go here if you are looking for a 10 minute oil change. This place does great work and they are busy so most of the time I've had to leave it. But they have always kept me updated and gotten the cars done before they said or right on time. Everyone there is very nice. I've gone there for some strange things and always no problem, I.E. window came off track, wiper / blinker switch needed to be replaced, transmission fluid change, etc. They don't upsell and they won't do work you don't need. Kris has been making sure my car is in the best driving condition since I moved to Arizona in 2011. His prices are fair and the work his crew does is top notch. You won't find electrical tape under the hood here (I experienced that a few times in PA). I have been taking my cars and trucks to Kris and Jessica for a few years now and they have always taken care of me. They have always been affordable and never try to upsell me. A few months back I took my 2010 LTZ for a oil pressure light on. It turned out to be a bad sensor. I got my truck back and the light came back on after a few days. Because of my crazy work schedule I couldn't get it back in for a couple months. Kris and Jessica said to bring it in and they would take care of it no problem. They replaced another sensor and 50 miles later same problem, oil light. Kris explained the sensors are not that great sometimes and they are known for failing quick. So I drop it off again and they replace it again. 3 weeks and 500 miles later no light, no issues. They only charged me anything the initial time months ago. I bought my car back in 2015 and was assured my AC will work, it just had a slow start. Wrong! My own mistake for not having them knock down the price or have them fix it before buying. This would have been my 4th year without cold AC. I originally went to pep boys and walked out defeated and held out last year to get it fixed. I was determined to get a second opinion to make sure I was getting a fair price. I contacted Kris over email to set up an appointment. When I brought it in, both Kris and Michelle were there and I instantly felt as though this was the shop! After an hour they diagnosed the issue and gave me a quote- 25% less than what pep boys quoted me and that they could get it done within a few hours. Kris gave me the quote in addition to other things that needed to be repaired but not immediately and could be taken care of down the road but more importantly the AC was priority. I scheduled to get it repaired and unfortunately had to call and reschedule two additional weeks out and Kris was amazing. He didn't make me feel bad about having to reschedule or that I inconvenienced him or the shop. He wished that I had a great weekend and to maybe catch a spring training game. Personable touches like that... make or break customer/business relationships. My day came to get my AC fixed, they were able to get it done within a few hours. As to the cost, I have no idea if I got a good deal or they took me to the cleaners because I know nothing about car repair...but assuming I got a good price, they're great people! Had trouble installing a keyless entry panel on my Explorer due to not wanting to damage door panel clips. Called The KAR Shop to set up an install, and the manager/owner told me, "I've never done one, and I wouldn't want to do this for you. I have never been more impressed with the quality and honesty of an auto shop. The owner checked over our car after jiffy lube noticed something leaking but couldn't fix it. They checked over the whole car and told us the problem. They they stated they could fix it but would trust another place better with my type of car and told us another great place to go. They were honest, and looking out for the best interest of their clients. The owner proceeded to text us and check on us 3 days later to make sure everything went well. Needed to have a window repair and I wasn't happy with the last repair shop I'd previously taken my vehicle to and certainly didn't want to go to the dealership and pay an arm and a leg! I googled repair shops and found The Kar shop then checked out the yelp reviews. Afterwards, I was feeling good so I emailed for an appointment and got added to the schedule. Got to the shop and arrived to great customer service. Received a call later letting me know the damage, which was much less than I'd expected, so I had them get started. I've been coming to the KAR Shop since they opened. I have never found a place that treats myself along with my car so well. I have had mostly maintenance done on my cars, along with a tune up, but I know if anything was to ever go wrong with my vehicle, they'd be my first stop. I'm happy I found a good mechanic in my neighborhood. Kris and his crew are good at what they do and very friendly! Here's a couple of examples: I took my car in because Autozone told me that my battery was in great condition and I had another issue with my car. Kris took a look at it, realized the battery was almost dead. Very quickly, sent his people to get me a new battery (mine had a guarantee still), replaced it at no charge. When talking to Kris, I noticed that he is an honest man, explains the entire process and will do the right job one time and fast. Now, I took my car to get the brakes done, he quoted me a very reasonable rate, explained to me what he was going to do. As a female not knowing about cars they don't haggle me until my hair falls out. I've had troubles with my older vehicle getting serviced at the chain places such as Firestone & Big O Tires. They will give you a two page recommendation as if your car will go rolling down the road and tires are going fly off with your engine catching on fire. Those places are complete garbage.
