If you're looking for a relaxing getaway and want to be surrounded by luxury and beautiful ocean views, this is the place to stay. We come to Sausalito at least once a year and always stay at the Inn Above Tide. It's located on the waterfront and each room has the perfect view of the ocean, looking out towards the city of San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. All the rooms have their own private deck where you can relax with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. All the shops and restaurants on Bridgeway St. are within walking distance of the Inn. It is also right next to the Ferry where you can purchase tickets for a ride into San Francisco. When you arrive, you are greeted at the gate of their private parking lot, where your car is safely stored during your stay. Check-in is always easy and all the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. They offer a Continental breakfast that is served buffet-style in their Drawing Room or you can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a $5 fee. Every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they have wine, cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit for all guests in their Drawing Room. You can also arrange to have this delivered to your room as well. When we arrived to our suite, they had a lovely anniversary surprise waiting for us inside. They had a silver tray on our table, with a white rose, a bottle of champagne, a box of Napa Valley chocolates, and a lovely card to welcome us. When we booked our stay, for this trip, we chose the City Lights Suite. The inside of the suite is beautiful, luxurious, immaculate, and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I have an allergy to feathers. They made sure our pillows and bedding did not contain any down feathers. They had fresh, gorgeous orchids in the main part of the suite as well as the en suite bathroom. If you want to watch a movie, they have a huge catalog of DVDs, you can pick from, to watch in your room. They really go above and beyond to make your stay an unforgettable experience. What to say about my new "most romantic" getaway in California? I couldn't remember the last time I was in Sausalito and truly grateful I made the decision to celebrate another California adventure at this waterfront gem. After doing much research, I decided the lodging had to be as close to the water as possible. Situated on Richardson Bay, this 33-room luxury hotel was that dream come true. From the grand deck, our king room featured stellar views of downtown San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, Angel and Alcatraz islands. A gas fireplace also looked out on the views. The bathroom incuded a spa tub and shower. All the extras - soaps, shampoo, bath salts and more. The heated bathroom floor was a big plus! I have stayed a few times at this inn. There is the good and the not so great. Good: in the middle of Sausalito. Pretty views. Balconies. Basic continental breakfast brought to your door. Cheese and (water) crackers and wine come to your room if you'd like at night. Great housekeeping. Bad: prices are more than double what they should be. The rooms are clearly dated. They look like motel rooms by the airport. Beige, dark, and drab. They need paint and newer furniture and better modern lighting. Service is limited to whoever is sitting at the front desk. No concierge. No restaurant. No gym. No great restaurants on the main strip nearby. Rooms are very dark. Hard to work at a desk because of the darkness. In addition, I should not have to buy bath salts just to take a bath at a $1500 a night hotel. This makes no sense. They charge $6 per bath salt pouch. Given the negatives and hefty price tags of suites from $1500-2500 a night I will try Cavallo Point next time. They have a restaurant on the premises and prices are lower. Gym also on premises. read more

I had one of the most incredible stay at The Inn Above Tide. After a long drive in from Tahoe, I was thrilled to hear they have a nightly wine and cheese reception. Brad checked me in and offered for me to enjoy wine and cheese in the sitting room off the lobby, or he could arrange to deliver it to my room (this sounded perfect and since I don't drink wine, they offered non alcohol options). I'm so delighted by this little touch and I haven't even seen my room yet. Brad hands me a key (yes, a real key, not the digital types that you have to go to the front desk to re-issue 3x over your stay) and I'm kindly escorted to my suite. Ok, the photos and videos don't do the view justice- it was way more impactful checking into my room and seeing the panoramic views of the bay at sunset. Then, to have my sparkling water and cheese delivered was the perfect touch. As I enjoyed it looking out the balcony, I immediately felt relaxed, comfortable and right at home. There were lots of restaurants within steps, but I took a bit longer walk to Caldonia street and enjoyed dinner at Osteria Divino. When I arrived back to the hotel, I wanted a tea and was pleasantly surprised to see they have a coffee and tea bar available 24 hours. After a great night sleep in the comfy beds, the breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries, quiche and more was a delight. This too I could have enjoyed in my room at no charge if I would have preferred, but I opted to enjoy in the sunny sitting room with my colleague who was also staying at the Inn. While my work was around Sausalito and San Francisco, I did have a meeting scheduled and it was hosted at the hotel's Founder's Room Suite. This is where I want to do business. The boardroom table was just off the kitchen and had AV setups for the presentation. It was an intimate setting with water views, natural light and excellent for our group of 7. I could see how it would nicely accommodate 8-10, or even a few more if there were a reception. I cannot say enough great things about the Inn Above tide and their General Manager, Mark and Assistant General Manager, Felipe. I enjoyed my stay here! Literally a jewel by the Bay! It's located in downtown Sausalito and next door to the ferry so you're literally in walking distance to restaurants and cute little shops, as well as a boat ride into the City. The customer service was good (outside the front desk guy mixing me up with someone else-2x- and greeting me by the wrong name). They offer a complimentary continental breakfast and a "happy hour-wine and cheese" service that can be sent to your room for a small service fee. We had a gorgeous room overlooking the bay and one of the fun things that we enjoy is the afternoon wine and cheese reception that's included! Me and my husband had a wonderful stay. We booked this room for relaxation and a mini getaway for my birthday and they did not disappoint us. The service was exceptional. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Close to the ferry to head over to San Francisco. The complimentary breakfast was nice to have a little something to eat before heading out in the morning. The option to have the wine/cheese delivered to the room was our favorite, as it gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy the evening on our balcony looking at the ocean. I did not want to leave the room at all. Definitely gave us the relaxation and serenity we needed. We will definitely be back and recommend booking a room, especially the balcony suite! read more

The rooms are modern, unobstructed views of the bay, boats, city, etc. Beautiful and picturesque views during the evening with the city lights background. Inside the rooms, relax with the comfort of a fireplace, modern furniture and subtle lighting. Awake to the early morning sunrise, fresh air , including watching the boats travel @ the Bay while enjoying your coffee. The IAT accommodations include the most elaborate continental breakfast in Ca, starting with the fresh fruit assortment, egg whites, granola, bagels, misc. pastries, and on and on...everything fresh and delicious. I booked the deluxe queen room for my anniversary and had a wonderful stay here. I had reached out ahead of time because I was traveling with a baby and they very kindly offered a pack and play during my stay. The also have a small mini fridge in the rooms which I was able to use for milk. When we arrived valet was very fast and we had a ton of things which their staff were very helpful with getting all our stuff to the room. I really appreciated this because we had checked in quite late. When we got to our room we had a small bottle of champagne waiting for us and a sweet card. Breakfast is included and starts at 7a but you can also opt to deliver to the room for a small fee. Every morning there was a large selection of pastries, bagels with cream cheese, amazing quiche, fruit, yogurt, granola, cheese. My favorite part of the stay was the wine and cheese hour which also gets delivered to your room. They give you an entire bottle of red or white wine with a nice sample of different cheese, grapes and strawberries. The room itself was very comfy with high end soaps and lotion but the view is really what made it spectacular. In our room the bed was facing the beautiful bay and the hotel truly is hovering over the waves. We had binoculars in the room to look around and there were several boats that would pass by to make for good people watching. The deck was a nice place to hangout and relax in the room. Staff were always very responsive and helpful especially when the whole city had a power outage. For example offering flashlights and checking in. Overall this was a great stay and I highly recommend coming here for a relaxing weekend. read more

Amazing hotel on the water with gorgeous views! Convenient parking next to the hotel and complimentary breakfast and nightly 5pm wine and cheese plates available for order. Sausalito itself is extremely safe so I never felt uneasy when walking along the ocean during the evening hours. Hotel staff were amazing--extremely kind and caring. Rooms are a tad bit dated--mainly the bathrooms. We stayed in a queen deluxe which had a balcony overlooking the ocean. It's nice when you don't have people staying above or next to you. We had people check in the night before we left and their balcony overlooked ours. Overall, the views are what we came for and nothing can beat that! read more

I can't say enough kind things about The Inn Above Tide! My husband and I stayed here the night before our wedding and had returned to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We are an older couple and we picked an ADA room because my husband is disabled and in a walker. The next day we found my husband was unable to lift himself out of the bed without help. While we visited beautiful Marin County the staff purchased risers and remade the bed. It saved the day and our anniversary celebration. read more

We just got back from our quick getaway staying two nights in a Queen Deluxe Room. What a special place with amazing views and tranquil setting - just what we needed to relax and unplug. Complimentary wine (red or white) and cheese/crackers/fruit delivered to your room (5-7pm) and breakfast in the drawing room (7-10am) with a great selection of pastries, bagels, quiche, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, cheese, and fruits plus fresh squeezed OJ and great coffee, You can also grab a tray and take it back to your room or have it delivered by filling out a card the night before. There is also a mini fridge in the room and although it's filled with items to purchase, there is still a little wiggle room to add in some items we bought to keep cold. The bed was comfortable although a little too soft for me but the shower had great water pressure which helped my sore back. Tub is huge but we skipped on using due to conserving water. Everyone from the front desk, valet, food and room service were so kind and helpful. Looking forward to returning soon! read more

This was a very peaceful stay for our 8th wedding anniversary! The Inn is pretty hidden in the corner but very accommodating with a pleasant stay. There is a parking lot to the side but we decided to use valet. Our room had the perfect view with a beautiful sunrise in the morning to all the ships, boats and people just kayaking by. Everything was great but the only thing that left me on edge was the fact that on our last night when we let valet park our car, we noticed our car had our passenger window down. We went on a walk and when we were on our way back to the room that's when we noticed it. We didn't use our car since 2pm that day and it was about 8/9pm when we noticed it. Of coarse we notified the front desk right away! Luckily we removed anything valuable out of the car. Besides that...it was such a beautiful place! *pics for reference* read more

Just got back from this beautiful gem. We will be coming back!! We had a 2 night stay (Sat-Sun) for my birthday. They have a gated courtyard that they valet your car for you and the staff was WONDERFUL. We had a thoughtful note with a bottle of rosé wishing me a HBD. That was sweet. EVERY evening, they provide a fruit/cheese/crackers plate WITH YOUR CHOICE of a bottle of white or red--that can be delivered to your room. AND complimentary breakfast, daily, with good quality of choices. The fruit was fresh-- the watermelon and honeydew was my favorite! Their orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. THEIR COFFEE!? THEIR COFFEE, was strong and full bodied. This WINS in my book. Didn't even feel like I needed to go get coffee!!! Did I already say every staff member was extremely kind! The room was pretty. Not huge but the feel was GREAT and with a balcony that over looks the water. There are NO complaints. I hope this review and picture helps your decision. We will be coming back. Our daughter and now son--in-law were married in Marin and we all stayed at the hotel. The staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating, including arranging for the most beautiful charcuterie "box" we'd ever seen. Anything we needed was provided quickly. I booked here as a surprise getaway for Father's Day. The check-in was flawless, customer service the whole stay was great! The Bayview rooms are perfect sized for a couple. We had a fireplace, Bluetooth stereo connection, spa tub, refrigerator, and a patio with class partitions so you can stare down at the ocean while enjoying the SF skyline views. You have the option of choosing your wine and cheese to be delivered to your room at cocktail hour, or you can go into the gathering room with the other guest. We chose to have it in our rooms in order to get the full experience. Once the sun sets, the wind blows through there off the ocean with no mercy. Smacks ya in the back of the neck, and the forehead. Best time to finally spark up that fireplace! The bed was soft, and comfortable. So comfortable, that we couldn't wake up on time for the continental breakfast hours, and we forgot to put the sign on the door to order breakfast through room service. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a cute Valentine's Dat get away here at The Inn Above Tide. The room was cute and small but the view we had of the water was truly amazing. Love how big the windows are. Right when we checked in which was seamless and the front desk check in guy was nicely and helpful. Our room was on the top floor. We love there's an extra door before getting into your room. It feels safe for sure. I mean Sausalito is pretty safe area but having an extra door before getting to your room is pretty darn good and we didn't have to worry about outsiders. We love that we can pick our time for some complementary wine and cheese which we didn't know about which was really nice touch. We also got free breakfast in the morning that was delivered to your room. We got to pick what we wanted on the door hanger menu the night before. It was a simple continental breakfast. One thing I was there was is some eggs, bacon or sausage. One negative thing I came across in the morning was I saw a huge dust that was coming down from the drapes. It was ultra dusty that did make me sneeze and eyes watery. It would be great if the room was really dusted out and it seems like the drapes were not. Would definitely stay here again. read more

We just needed a night away from routine. This was the place! Warm welcoming staff and every room featured a private view of the bay and sf. We felt far away, but it was just a 45 min drive. Smack in the middle of sausalito. Our room was unbelievable- then there was wine hour(s) - with high quality wine and creamy cheeses. In the morning there was every fruit imaginable and a variety of pastries with quiche and cereal and anything else one could want. Was the view great? You bet....and who cared that it was stormy. It was a step back to Europe with warm and wonderful linens and all the amenities one could think about! Can't wait for my next escape. The views are impeccable. We stayed in one of the Queen Deluxe rooms on the third floor this past weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. I will say that room itself looks better online. It is a little older and outdated in person. The rooms are pretty close together and right on top of each other so we were able to see the guests on their patio right below us. TV is small and not a smart TV - but honestly we spent 90% of our time on the patio enjoying the view anyway. The bathroom was clean and they have luxury Bvlgari amenities! Complimentary bottles of water was provided and we were also welcomed with a bottle of champagne in our room. They provided us with a PPE kit that included a mask, hand sanitizer, sanitizing cloths, and gloves. Wine and cheese reception is daily from 5-7pm and you get to pick the time and they will deliver it to your room. We were surprised that they included an entire bottle of wine! Ordering breakfast was also super easy, they give you a menu to circle the time that you want breakfast to be delivered, the number of items you want, and then you just hang it back on your door before midnight. Breakfast was delivered on the dot the next morning with newspaper, which was a nice touch. Fresh squeezed orange juice and the quiche is a must! Although the room itself was a little outdated, the little touches like the amenities and accommodations such as wine, breakfast, and their plushy robes and slippers made our stay very enjoyable. We also enjoyed using the binoculars provided inside the room. Overall, it was a lovely and peaceful stay and located in the heart of downtown so everything was within walking distance. If you are concerned about parking, they do not have valet due to covid at the moment, but they will give you a parking pass to leave on your dashboard so you don't have to pay for parking in the lot. read more

We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The room was super clean and neat with a fantastic view. Small fireplace kept the room perfect temp all weekend. Snacks at the mini bar were so good we took some with us for the flight home (bbq almonds were my fav) No need to bring any soaps, shampoos or body lotion, they have it all and is top notch, my wife loved it all, I forgot to ask if I could buy a bottle or two when I checked out. The continental breakfast is superb, arrangement of very fresh fruits and pastries. Yogurt, fresh juice milk, coffee and a great selection of tea. The best was the quiche! Freshly made and warm, we had a slice every morning. It is very peaceful and quiet on the property and a great place to spend a weekend relaxing and unwinding. Plenty of small shops nearby with ice cream, pizza, candies and trinkets. Lot's of great restaurants in walking distance. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were fortunate enough to stay 2 nights here in October 2020, during covid season. We had a 2nd floor room facing the bay and the bridge / SF skyline etc. So gorgeous when we stepped in. Just sleep with the windows open for the view all day & night, can't get enough. Fire place inside and large bath tub. Continental breakfast delivered every morning. Wine & cheese hour every afternoon. Free parking across the hotel in the public lot. I guess it's not free, but included in your room rate. They also provide a PPE welcome kit such as masks in case you need it. We really enjoyed our time here and would recommend this retreat to our family & friends! read more

Such a romantic place. The staff are very attentive and helpful. The rooms are clean and elegant. I love all the little touches from the binoculars for bird & wildlife watching, the coloring book ( yes even adults enjoy coloring) and the fragrant magnolia flower in the bathroom. I also love the high end soaps and lotion from Bvlgari ( Bulgari ). They offer to bring you breakfast at the time of your choosing for a small I believe 5.00 fee and we also received a bottle of champagne (and a sweet Happy Anniversary note) which we enjoyed by the fireplace. From 5-7 there's cheese and wine available downstairs. They have a great selection of cheeses. The night was a beautiful night with the sounds of the ocean waves. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this is the place. Located VERY close to The Trident and Scomas restaurant, also a cute ice cream shop and lots of souvenir stores. This hotel is our favorite quick getaway from the city. It's very calm and serene with excellent service. Each room has its own unique fantastic view of the bay.
