Before I could finish it, the croutons had practically melted in the sea of sauce dumped on it. (I drive ~350 miles daily, and I was in no mood to get dressed back up to go across the street to get a refund; it was a few minutes after 9 p.m.) Then there was the missing parmesan cheese which was yet another reason to give this lousy place a one-star review.

The fried chicken was crispy and fried hard just the way I like it, with plenty of flavor in every bite. The greens were seasoned perfectly, and the yams were sweet with a great texture--not too hard and not too soft. I visited on a hot summer day, and the restaurant can get pretty loud and a little stuffy when it's busy. Thankfully, they had fans placed throughout the space, which made it much more comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. If you're looking for good soul food and want to support a place with a meaningful mission, Whole Truth Lunchroom is worth a visit. I'd definitely go back.
