This place is really cute and mildly eclectic which I loved. Easy to find on Riverside Dr and lots of space inside. It has a pretty comprehensive bar and food menu. They were out of the item I wanted to try (nacho skins), but wanted to offer me lots of other choices. I had a pretty tasty Paloma and overall enjoyed my time there. If you look through my past reviews you'll probably notice a trend. I love Bloody Mary's and french fries. Based on that, I highly recommend coming here. The bloody mary was fantastic. Not very spicy, but tasted delicious. Our table shared the loaded fries. They were cooked really well, perfectly crispy on the outside. I almost wish I had just ordered a side of fries all for myself. For my meal I had the chicken and waffles. This was just ok for me. I'm not as much a chicken and waffle fan though. My friend ordered one too and was raving about it, so maybe it's just my taste preferences. The atmosphere is pretty cool. They have some unique pieces hidden in random corners if you look around. What a creative and unique concept for a bar - commemorating the greatest flood in Cincy's history and also bringing back those old-school games! I think that this is a great addition to the east-side area. It has a laid-back crowd, outdoor deck, basement for shuffleboard (more games to come I assume?), and an upper-level with more tables and games available. They have a changing beer menu as well as a very reasonably priced cocktail list (well and premium options). I haven't tried their food yet, but will do so in the near future. My friend Jim introduced me to Hi Mark one day when and I'm never going to stop thanking him for that. Hi Mark is now my favorite place to go when I'm in the mood for a night out despite the fact that it's a good 35 minute drive from my side of town. The decor and atmosphere are awesome; it's sort of low lit, intimate, and warm so you feel like you're having your own experience at your own table even when there are a bunch of other people around. There are also lots of games to play and TVs to watch. The bartenders are always very friendly and they'll joke with you and even remember your order... like, even the NEXT time you're there! They are also very fast and good at what they do! Even when the bar is packed and there are ten people in front of you you'll get through the line in just a few short minutes. They also have food and let me tell you, their Korean bbq wings are the stuff dreams are made of. I think about them a lot more than I probably should. Their loaded fries are also yummy and I haven't been able to go there without ordering both of those items yet. Hi-Mark saved dinner! After tossing truly terrible carry out somewhere else, I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and fries for the first time from Hi-Mark. Overall, the sandwich was delicious, but more specifically, it was hot, crispy but moist, well sauced, flavorful, and the bun was soft. The fries had gotten a bit cold in transport, but they were still crispy and were the perfect conduit for a ton of the fry sauce! Went here for a couple drinks and a bite to eat after doing some cycling at nearby lunken airport trail. I ordered the burger and my friend ordered a salad. Burger was excellent as well as the sauce for the fries. The salad (add chicken) also looked incredible. Great beer selection and while I am not a liquor drinker, my friend ordered a couple old fashions and said they were fantastic. This was during covid outside only seating, short wait (under 10 mins) on a Friday evening. You just pull up the menu on your phone and order from that. Food was served in to go containers. Also, of significant importance, our server was knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and generally awesome. The service was less than desired you have to go to the bar and order then they bring your food out and that's it but give you an awkward screen with a 20% tip loaded so it's like sure but I'm not really in agreement with that for someone who took my order and that's it. Also the food is very expensive and just so so. The wings did not have much flavor and the burgers sound really good in the description but then were disappointing. Been wanting to try this place for awhile, so I ordered take-out last week to support them since they are localish to my neighborhood. So. Much. Salt. I couldn't eat most of what I ordered. It was like when someone was salting the food, the lid had come off the salt shaker and they were just like, "Eh, whatever, the more salinity, the merrier." I always do my best to do pickup and support local biz's more, but I caved and ordered delivery from The Hi-Mark (I'll come pickup next time, promise!). I was not disappointed. I had been to the Hi-Mark before, but never for a meal. I had their wings and shared some of the loaded chili cheese fries. So first off, the chili cheese fries are SUCH a unique dish. The chili is like none I've had before and the Vietnamese flavors came through in such an unexpected way. I could have eaten this entire dish by myself. The wings didn't disappoint either, they were large and meaty. Aside from the occasional cheese fry, I tend to eat a pretty low-carb diet... I'll definitely be bookmarking The Hi-Mark for these wings as a great treat without breaking a low-carb diet. Doesn't look like much from the outside. Walking in from the front you will see a wraparound bar with a few tables. Upstairs is additional seating and one can enter from the back or sit on the deck outside, weather permitting. They also have a downstairs seating area and host private parties on this level. The menu has more drinks than food by a 3 to 1 ratio. But don't let this fool you, they serve pretty decent food! The melt with 16 Bricks Bread was delicious! They also have fries and chicken and a nice array of sauces, even some homemade like the yummy fry sauce. I noticed 4 salads on the menu and they were hearty portions. The fry basket was only $5 and seemed portioned for 3-4 people. Strong selection of beers here, served by the pitcher for $12-20 depending on the brew. Some unique cocktails or simply Fresca soda with your choice of liquor. Nice selection of wines here too. This place hits all the right notes for a group. Stopped by this weekend for a drink after eating late lunch at Eli's which is a block away. I've heard good things about Hi-Mark from friends and from previous reviews, so was excited to try. We walked in and found a spot a the bar, there were a few other patrons at the bar and at tables nearby, it appears the crowd just transitioned over from one NFL football game to another and bar staff was changing over. I asked questions on the tap list as from where we were sitting at the bar it was hard to read the selections, my friend always goes with light beer, so waitress gave her some suggestions, I also asked a few questions and ended up going with Great Lakes Christmas Ale as its close to the holiday season. We placed an order of fries, they came out hot and crisp from the kitchen some of the best crinkle cut fries had in a while. During our visit a few guys were getting out of hand on one side of the bar and then also the bar staff seemed to be preoccupied and they all did a round of shots and also a drink, while in front of everyone, should you really be doing that while on the job in the afternoon? read more

This place is AWESOME! It is not located near too much, but it is definitely worth the trip. Hi-Mark is a great place to grab a drink with friends and snack on their limited menu. Upon walking in, you can see all three levels of the building. The bottom floor features a few arcade games. The main floor is where the kitchen, bar, and main seating area is located. The top floor has additional seating that is typically less noisy. Everything at Hi-Mark is ordered directly from the bar. You can look over a menu, order drinks, and food from the bartenders. If you order food, they give you a number and bring it to your table. However, if you want a drink you need to go back up to the bar to order! The dry rub chicken wings are a favorite of mine. However, I like the buffalo chicken sandwich with the loaded fries. At $11 this is a great deal for the amount of food you get. The Motz is a great choice which is essentially an Arnold Palmer with liquor. You can buy their cocktails in single serves or in bottles. I would recommend the bottle if you're looking to stay for a few drinks or have a party of 4 or more. read more

NOT KID FRIENDLY We were very excited to visit this place in person tonight for dinner with friends and brought our 1 year old. When we arrived and requested a high chair, we learned they didn't provide any at the restaurant. They said, "we want to prioritize our bar atmosphere and while kids are welcome, we are not kid-friendly." What the heck? I get you don't want the place to be chuckie cheese but come on! We took turns awkwardly holding our daughter through dinner until my husband ended up going and getting our car seat (not an easy to remove seat) from the car and bringing it in the restaurant. This was dinner at 6pm - so I dk what kind of bar atmosphere can't include a high chair at dinner? We've yet to visit another restaurant or bar or brewery in fact that didn't off high chairs. The employee also told us we should consider buying a portable one to bring. Thanks, we have already bought a million things for our little one and get to carry it all around, let's add something else. The service was disorganized- maybe due to COVID - not sure. Went here on a Monday night for trivia, great spot to hangout with friends and enjoy a drink! They have a nice outdoor patio, and 3 different levels (main floor, upstairs, and basement) lots of tvs which is nice and you're able to see them from both the main floor and upstairs. The basement has a game room which is pretty cool. Food was great, I had the grilled cheese it was delicious. 3 different types of cheese and sixteen bricks bread, can't go wrong! This is now my favorite pub in Cincinnati. It's right down the street from Eli's BBQ. It has the best chicken sandwich ever and their fries are super crispy. I guess they must double fry everything. Their chicken wings are also pretty amazing with 5 or 6 different flavors. They have a great beer selection and two floors of tables. They also have a basement with pool tables and air hockey. We typically sit upstairs where it's a little quieter and where you can have a great view of their projector screen. You order food and beer at the bar and then they bring it to wherever you're sitting. They also have an outside patio although I have never sat there after only going during winter so far. We even bring our 1 year old here and he has a blast upstairs seeing the projector screen and the werewolf decorations. This is definitely a place that I will regularly come to. read more

My wife and I tried Hi-Mark for the first time tonight, the 3 different food items we had were actually pretty good, we split the Nacho skins, wings, and the BBQ sandwich, all of which were good. The house cocktail list was very good, as well as the beer list. My biggest issue was with the prices on the beer, higher than lots of places , also, I'm not sure if this is the norm, waiting forever at the bar for a drink, ordering food and to get your check. Stopped in with my networking group around 7PM. The place was packed. (Note: day 1 of NCAA basketball tournament) I had a draft beer called Zombie Dust. I chose it because there's a song by the band, Ghost, called Zombie Dust. Anyhow...I made a good choice! It was either an IPA or Pale Ale and was "hoppy goodness". If you ever went to the Barvarian Brewery in Covington, this place has similar architecture: iron bar rails, wooden steps, brick, etc. Behind the bar, they have all the draft beers listed with plastic, black letters on a Fresca (soda pop) board which is beside a Fresca clock. I love Fresca! The next time I go, I plan to get the back story. I did not try the food. BBQ is my favorite. So, I will definitely be back soon to have a meal! read more

Cool spot near Eli's. The interior is mostly wood and has that OTR kind of look that I dig. The bartender was friendly and explained the drinks available when asked. I don't think we fully explored the place as we were meeting a friend and spent the evening catching up on life, but it appears there is also an upstairs. Cool. The outdoor patio is a nice touch but the night we were there is was stupid humid so there was no way we were drinking outside. Next time. The beer selection was interesting in that it had (has?) what would have been their house beer from the now closed Blank Slate Brewery, called the Hi 80 or something like that. It is in reference to the Ohio River flood that crested at almost 80 feet. Geesh! The beer was good and they had about 6 kegs at the time of our visit. *moral of the story, drink beer you like and support them as much as possible, otherwise they go bye bye. I had some of the fries and oh man, they hit the spot. With Quan Happa and Pho Lang Thang involved with the menu, you have a winning combo, and the fries really packed some flavor and paired well with my beer. While Hi-Mark is not officially open, they are softly open Thursday-Saturday until August 14th when I believe is their official open date. This bar is brought to you by a collaboration of restaurant owners. Eli's BBQ teamed up with the owners of Pho Lang Thang and Quan Hapa to bring you Hi-Mark. The name has to do with the flood plane, and where the Ohio River has flooded in the past. They literally had to raise the floors like two feet to be compliant with construction codes in the flood plane. If you look up on the open floor plan's exposed brick walls, you can see where bygone fireplaces don't line up to the current floors. That's an interesting quirk! Full bar, probably 12 taps, decent variety cans and bottles. Tables and darts upstairs. I'm told that they will have a couple of projection TVs to have Sportsball games on. Located 1 block west of Eli's BBQ on Riverside Dr., this place will be hopping when the waits at Eli's hit 45 minutes or more(which is frequent!). We went to Eli's, ordered, back to Hi-Mark for a beer, back to Eli's for to-go, back to Hi-Mark to make everyone jealous as we ate at the bar. I was told that they will have wings and loaded fries and a few sandwich options once the kitchen is ready, it wasn't yet tonight. Oh, there is also a decent sized patio with probably 4 picnic tables, smoking permitted. One last thing, and this feature may disappear/change, but for now, there is a bright orange dot on the west-facing wall. They said they might do something different with it, but for now it is a dot. That signifies the height that the water got in the flood of 1937! The whole downstairs would have been under water! Wheelchair accessible. read more

Went here with friends for the first time because of the great reviews on Yelp!. It's further east on Riverside than Eli's, and street parking was no problem for Saturday lunch. It was a beautiful day, so we opted to sit on the back deck with umbrellas and poly/retro chairs that were quite comfy. This was after we placed our orders at the bar inside. The menu is a bit limited - but interesting. I went with the smoked pork bahn mi with do chua, cucumber, Eli's BBQ sauce, cilantro, green onion. Can add jalapeños if you choose. Do chua is a vietnamese pickle of carrots and daikon radish, which added a nice acidity and crunchiness to the sandwich. I probably would have preferred a bit more meat, but what they served was a nice balance of flavors. None of us had beers, which is a must do next time. Their beer menu is more extensive than the food menu. Server was friendly and personable, though I wish our waters were refilled. I noticed a water spigot on the outside wall near the doors leading out to the deck. If I'd known, I would have refilled my own....Nonetheless, I will be back! read more

Stopped in on a Thursday for a few beers and dinner. The exposed brick and open space still emits a cozy feeling and we had a great experience. We grabbed a table on the main floor (there's an upstairs, basement area with shuffleboard, and a big outdoor deck too!). Important to note: you must order all food and drink from the bar but the staff is attentive and delivers food to your table when it's ready. There was a diverse selection of beer, fun cocktails, and we loved the loaded crinkle cut fries (complete with beer cheese!) and the wings covered in Eli's BBQ sauce. We will definitely be back! I'm a very particular bar-goer. I hate bumping bars where the noise is unbearable and you can't enjoy talking with your friends. My first visit to Hi-Mark was awesome, we showed up Monday for a few beers and some food and we found a 10 dollar wing special and trivia waiting for us. It was beyond fun, and totally relaxing. I'm not sure how they do with business on the weekends, but I can see myself coming back here regularly. Spicy BBQ wings were dynamite as were the crinkle fries. read more

Came here with some friends yesterday for dinner. Figured coming here on a Monday, they wouldn't be too busy, and they weren't too busy at all. We had never been before, so we saw the sign on the table that you order with the bartender, so I ordered fried pickles and the Buffalo chicken sandwich. My friends got wings, fries and the fried chicken sandwich. We got our food extremely quickly, which always makes me a little iffy, thinking the food is just sitting back there. The fried pickles were extremely greasy. I could barely eat any of them unfortunately. And the Buffalo chicken tenders on the sandwich tasted very old. The chicken was extremely rubbery. I couldn't bite into the sandwich easily at all. I ended up taking the chicken tenders out and attempting to cut them which didn't go well either. The slaw on the sandwich was minimal, could barely taste it at all and it tasted old as well. Just very soggy. I ended up not eating that either. And because you order with the bartender, you don't really have a server to tell if something is wrong. The fries were about the only good thing I had. The fry sauce is very good! The bartender was super friendly and helpful with questions we had. The guy who delivered our food seemed bothered when we asked for extra napkins and ranch(which the Buffalo sandwich was supposed to come with, your choice of ranch or bleu cheese) They also don't have a parking lot, but there is a side street right next to it for street parking and there are some spots in front of the building, also street parking. Its a cool little intimate bar away from all the yuppies that live downtown. Bartenders & staff are all extremely friendly and its a chill place to go after a long day.
