Ok... so a journey... we ordered our food and drinks (got the drinks v promptly) and meal at the same time. We had a great first round and second round of drinks (highly recommend the seasonal mule), but unfortunately ended up waiting about an hour for our food. When I brought the delay to the attention of the staff around an hour after placing the order, Chris as well as the women behind the bar were very quick to more than rectify the situation. The service, all though the mistake, was great and the staff seemed to be very attentive and remade our order promptly. The food was delicious.... Hi Mark had the BEST party melt that we had ever had and the crinkle fries were cooked to perfection. Beware-Price GOUGING: The restaurant is a make shift place with stairs immediately up or now, no regards for people with disabilities. The bar area has all high top wobbly tables and plastic vinyl chairs. The tasteless chicken sandwich and a coke cost $21.00. In the year or so that The Hi-Mark has been opened, I've visited the bar/restaurant three times. The first time was with my entire family, parents, and brother. This included the kids, which struggled to find something that they wanted to eat from the menu. It's not a kid friendly menu, but the space is not entire kid unfriendly either. My second visit was with a couple of friends on our way to a FC Cincinnati match. And my most recent visit was with my wife when we needed a quick meal before an event downtown. I ordered the Pulled Pork Bánh Mì on both my first and most recent visit ($9 with fries). This delicious sandwich features Eli's smoked pork, do chua, cucumber, BBQ sauce, cilantro, green onion, and optional jalapenos. Eli's pork is some of the best around and it really stands out on this sandwich, but the other ingredients help to reinvent the classic smoky taste. I've also had the fried chicken sandwich and the grilled chicken torta ($9 each with crinkle fries on the side). The fry sauce that comes on the fried chicken sandwich is awesome and comes on the side with the crinkle fries. While both of these sandwiches are good options, it is hard to beat the Bánh Mì. The crinkle fries can also be loaded for an additional $2. This adds Psychobeer cheese, cheddar, sour cream, bacon, tomato, and green onion. Honestly I think the fries are best served plain with the fry sauce on the side. The fried pickles can also be served with the fry sauce, which I highly recommend. I guess what I'm saying is to get the fry sauce is one way or another! The Hi-Mark also features some great cocktails, the Horse's Neck is one of our favorites - bourbon, bitters, ginger beer ($6 for well). When we saw the weather was going to be nice, we drove 30 minutes from work with co-workers to get Hi-mark for lunch! I hadn't been there since last summer- but I've told many people that Hi -mark has the best wings in the city! The Spicy BBQ is the 6th out of 7 spice levels- and its always been my go to. Since last year, it seems like they changed the recipe a little- the wings aren't nearly as spicy anymore- they put jalapeños on top of the wings, I wonder if the plan was to create your own spice level? Not sure. They were still very good! Just not the spicy wings I remember. The atmosphere of this place is just fun- it's in a unique part of Cincinnati- down in a river bed almost. There is always parking, and finding a seat has never been a problem. If you come at a time when there's no wait staff, you'll order at the bar. If you need re-fills or extra sauce or anything- order at the bar. The guy that delivered our food made that super clear haha. Thanks to Yelp Cincy's picture post on Instagram, I was sold and wanted to come here bad. My Mr mentioned it awhile back too so it's was on our bucket list. Dined in on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy. We decided to sit at the bar since some of the tables were for bigger parties. The place has a cozy and laid back feel. Not claustrophobic. They have an outdoor patio and plenty of seating inside and upstairs. Downstairs offers games. This bar has a lot to offer! Full bar with specialty drinks, beer bucket specials, extensive craft beer selections(bottles/cans/draft) and wine. Happy hour, darts, great place to watch sports (huge Tv Screen). Now for the food menu. Great selection from sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and wings. Not overwhelming but just enough to hit the spot. I had my heart set on the chicken tenders with fries (sauce-ranch) and my Mr got the Pulled pork banh mi (Eli's smoked pork, pickled carrots, daikon radish, cucumber, BBQ sauce, mayo, cilantro, jalapeños, on a Vietnamese baguette), sub fries for a side salad (1.50 more). We paired our meals with draft craft beers. I got the Streetside 81 Ft. and my Mr got the 50 West broke & broke down double IPA. Ordering is easy, walk up side bar and order. Give you a number and they bring it to your table. Since they were slammed, it took awhile to get our meals but our beer tender was very kind and apologetic. Definitely worth the wait!!! My chicken tenders were on point! Super moist, breading was super crunchy and not greasy along with the crinkle fries. Perfect! My mr enjoyed his sandwich as well. He would get it again! After our meals we wanted to get another beer. Great news! They do half pints! So I opted for the Maine Peeper and my Mr got the Lagunitas Phase change. Another place I found myself asking, why had I not made it here sooner? I had long heard great things about the Hi-Mark and just recently made it here on a midweek evening. We were looking for a place to grab dinner, a few drinks, and just hang out for a while. This place did the trick! I love the atmosphere of this place! It is super laid back and had all walks of life in it. The bartenders were awesome, especially ours who was high energy and clearly loved her job. We tried to get creative with my beer by salting the rim and adding a lime, which made the salty bitch beer even better! Another male bartender threw out his recommendations for food as I was having trouble deciding. His money was on the patty melt and he wasnt wrong. It was great! I opted for the loaded fries on the side. Both hit the spot. By the way, everything is order at the bar and they will bring it out to your table (marked by a number they hand you). It looked like there was a pretty cool outdoor patio, but it was the first chilly night of the year so we stayed inside. I didnt venture upstairs or down, but apparently they have games. There is a great large TV on one of the walls to watch the game on, and music in the background. I usually could not care less about sub par service but this was truly unique. There were 5 of us at the bar, 3 in our party, 2 in another. And I am not exaggerating when I say we tried to get her attention for 30 minutes. To the point that we decided one of us must've slept with her significant other at some point. No other explanation. The Hi-Mark has a diverse crowd. Some stayed for hours, while other made The Hi-Mark a quick stop. There are three levels of fun. All drinks and food are ordered at the bar. There is no table service. The Hi-Mark is more than just a bar. The Hi-Mark has a full menu. I was torn between ordering the Hi-Melt and the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Since my friend was ordering the Hi-melt, I decided to go with the chicken. I really should have gone with the patty melt. The buffalo chicken sandwich is really just two chicken tenders, with a heaping tablespoon of coleslaw, and buffalo sauce poured on it. The tenders themselves were moist. They had thin yet crisp breading on the outside. I would not be disappointed if I had ordered a basket of tenders. As a sandwich it was just okay. The small amount of coleslaw got lost in the sandwich. The patty melt on the other hand not only looked delicious, but my friend confirmed it was. The crinkle cut fries were good. They were served with fry sauce. Various specials are available Monday through Thursday night. Service at the bar moves quickly. While food is ordered at the bar, patrons are given a number, and orders are brought to your table. Despite there being no table service, with our table being close to the bar, they did check on us a couple times. A little side note. This is review #600 for me! The bartender service was great. They had a good selection of beer - inc a delicious blueberry pie beer. The food was also pretty yummy. Nothing healthy on the menu :). But, their loaded fries with chili were simply put - fantastic (love the cilantro and sriracha on top). Both sandwiches (fried buffalo chicken and pork) were pretty good. Wish there was more chicken on the buffalo one. It was pretty sparse. The interior of this place is okay. Pretty cool bar that I can see myself hanging at after work or day drinking on the weekend. Located outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown is this bar located along the river. The companies social media post for Hi-Mark day celebrating the Ohio River flood of 1937 is what got me out to this part of town and I'm glad I did. Enjoyed a special draft from 50West just for Hi-Mark the Vietnamese Coffee stout. This stout quickly earned a top spot in my list of favorites. Of course, it'll limited in quantity. Great service received at the bar top. Room for private events upstairs and a few arcade games downstairs. Pretty easy parking and just a trot through the underpass if your walking. read more

Hi-Mark receives High Marks! Oh, Hi-Mark. Met up with some friends here last weekend to watch some football, hob-knob, and rub elbows. I love the turn-of-the-century charm this multi-story pub and grub has to offer. I did not explore the basement on this venture, but enjoyed the bar and the loft. Hi-Mark offers a good variety of beers. It seemed like there was something for everyone from lager to IPA. I did not have a chance to try the food, but my friends gave them high marks here as well. I am told that Eli's provides them with pulled pork for their sandwiches and you can't go wrong there. On my visit my friends and I cracked open some trivial pursuit questions from a far-gone era (the young 80's) and enjoyed going rounds and rounds trying to answer the "semi-pertinent to now" questions. I saw that they also had some arcade games and dart boards in case the tv's and board games are not enough. There was even a menacing werewolf playing in the rafters. Seems legit. read more

This is a great bar and hangout spot that has good food, a great beer list and several cocktail options. This is not your family style restaurant. There may be loud, obnoxious people having fun or yelling at a TV, but that's to be expected with this type of environment :). As for service, it was nothing special--it's typical for what you'd expect at a bar. This review is based on my first time experience and so far so good. In all their food you can taste the Vietnamese inspiration. I've tried the fried chicken sandwich, crinkle fries and pulled pork banh mi. Prices were reasonable given the large sizes you get. With both sandwiches, you get crinkle fries and fry sauce. The chicken sandwich was great, rich and fatty. The chicken was juicy and crispy and topped with the signature fry sauce, which is comparable to Cane's sauce. The perfect combination to make your taste buds happy. However, the bahn mi was phenomenal. They use ELI'S PULLED PORK mixed with spices, flavors and love from Pho Lang Thang's traditional bahn mi recipe. This is a delicious combination and a must try item!! The fries were awesome too! They make CRISPY crinkle fries that pair well with their rich sauce. YUM! In the future, I hope to try more items. The one downside to the food menu, is that nothing is healthy. Every item is fried (except the salads), but it would be nice to maybe add some non-typical (non-friend) bar food that's not salads to add variety to the menu (pssssttttt... I'd totally eat pho at a bar, though this item is not necessarily healthy either). They have happy hour specials, a dog friendly outdoor patio and trivia on Monday nights. You can rent out the space upstairs, but you must reach a $500 tab. They have a dart board upstairs that you can use, games in the basement and TVs on the wall. This place definitely appeals to the masses and will make you happy when you come here. read more

The food was hot and drinks were good, just ended up being a little too busy for the amount of people working and it seemed hard for them to keep up so we ended up leaving to get drinks another place. Fried pickles were good! The vodka drink with vanilla vodka (blanking on the name), very sweet. Skip the beer cheese.. sounds strange to say but it is VERY VERY Beer forward. The Hi-Mark is fantastic! I have been here more than a handful of times and I really enjoy both the atmosphere and the food. The pulled pork bahn mi is a combination of Eli's pulled pork and a Vietnamese bahn mi sandwich. I am not sure I'd give it marks for authenticity, but I did like the creative combination. What I come for is the wings! Its hard not to order them every time I go. I'll also add that I like the variety of their beer menu; when I was there watching the Michigan-OSU game (Go Blue!) I enjoyed the Stone Chocoveza, which previously I had mostly just seen in cans. The space is nice too, with three floors to spread out on. I usually find myself upstairs, which overlooks the main floor, but the downstairs has some arcade games to I'm often drawn there as well. Friendly staff in my experience, too. read more

this was 100% a new and unexpected find for me from a recommendation from a friend to meet up here. I actually have no idea what part of town this is but it was cute. It has only been open a year. They have your standard beer and other drinks. I had the pineapple upside down drink and it was amazing. We also for the friend pickled which were on point. Other than that they had your typical bar food. It was a casual atmosphere and the staff was attentive. There wasn't really anything else to do but and eat and drink, I guess that's your typical bar. Admittedly, I am not much of a sports aficionado. However, I had some family in town that *needed* a Michigan State Basketball fix. I had been to Hi-Mark for a Yelp event in the past and noticed that they had multiple TVs, good seating and most importantly, wings. It's just down the hill from Walnut Hills ... yet off the beaten path, so not too crowded; it was a good balance of Friday night energy without a huge Friday night crowd. I was pleased to say that everyone had a great time. The in-laws don't have the most exotic palates, but they tried the wings with the Vietnamese BBQ sauce and a banh mi. Both dishes were a bit outside of their comfort zones (spicy, for them) but they ended up enjoying the food and loving renovated space. We even got a chance to play the frog coin toss in the basement - highly recommended to check this out if you're waiting for food or relaxing with a small group. Sadly part of my reason for coming was to make goi cuon but apparently this menu item is not offered at this location despite being at the event. I had really hoped to try these again. It looks like I will need to trek to Pho Lang Thang next time, because those salad rolls are calling me! read more

The Hi Mark is a bar in the east end district. They have a pretty large area and lots of seating outside because of the corona restrictions. The inside has an upstairs and a downstairs but it's closed currently so they blocked the street outside and put extra tables. I ordered the fried pickles and wings by calling ahead. They also deliver with online services like Uber Eats. There's even more seats on the patio and plenty of parking in back. The pickles were really good and the special Hi Mark sauce was better than I was expecting! The wings were good but I should have got them hotter. I'm lowering The Hi-Mark down from 5 stars to 4 stars, mostly because of inconsistency in their food. As a bar and hangout spot, I think it's great, but as a restaurant it's good, but not perfect. For the bar, the vibes of this place are spot-on. This is my go-to bar with friends when I want something close to my neighborhood and casual. The beer list is always great, they usually have a lot of unique and local beers on tap. I didn't like the one and only cocktail I had here (Paloma), so I usually stick to beer. For the food, these are my favorite items: - Fried chicken sandwich ($9) - twice fried chicken thighs with their signature fry sauce. It's amazing and decadent and way too big for one person. Plus I think it's a good deal since all of their sandwiches come with fries. - Crinkle fries ($5) - their homemade crinkle fries with fry sauce are probably in my top 5 favorite fries in Cincinnati. I also like them loaded with their Psychopathy beer cheese - Pulled Pork Banh Mi ($9) - Eli's pulled pork plus Pho Lang Thang banh mi flavors. This is a win-win. - Loaded fries - Chicken and waffles off of the brunch menu However, some of their other items are simply too salty for me. The Lang Thang vietnamese style chili ($6) has such potential and is super unique, but it's too salty to eat on its own. (P.S. you guys should put a Lang Thang 3 way on the menu!). The wings are too salty too, and the salads are bland. For the salads, I think they would be better off using leafy greens instead of a romaine blend, and getting a less sweet vinaigrette. The outdoor patio is dog friendly. They have happy hour specials and events like trivia on Monday nights. There are games like air hockey downstairs in the basement (gets super loud and distracting when people are playing) and big TV's up on the walls for sports. It's never overcrowded, tables are all outside and spaced apart while, menu is all online, servers always wear a mask. I could go on and on. Very impressed with their Covid precautions (clearly marked spacing, pickup through an open window, serves in masks, well-spaced, outdoor tables). I enjoyed my East Ender salad, my husband liked his chicken torta, and the chips and beer cheese were yummy and salty (and you could really taste the Psychopathy beer). Our to-go drink, Horse Neck, was also delicious and bourbony. I guess my main disappointment from my family's visit to the Hi-Mark is that it didn't quite live up to my excitement for a restaurant whose central premise is combining the city's most famous BBQ spot with exciting Vietnamese flavors. For example, the banh mi was a pretty good sandwich (though it could have used some daikon radish, imo) but I could have used a reminder that there was Eli's pulled pork in there -- either a splash of some sauce or a heavier smoke flavor to remind me that this is a true fusion. My favorite part of the meal was probably the wings which were absolutely delicious and I can't say you see pepper-garlic-lime as an option very often. I will say it was a very cool space and would probably be a great place to hang with some friends and catch a game. If you're looking for a sports bar with good, slightly unconventional food options, the Hi-Mark is probably exactly the place you need. read more

The bartender took my card and swiped it when I ordered then handed it back. I thought nothing of it as many bars have you close out when you leave. When I came up to close out.. She told me that I already did and added a tip... Funny I never signed anything or authorized the charges... Be careful with your cards there... This is a pattern and NOT a one off mistake .... I really really like this place. So pleasant, comforting, stylish and just cool. Excellent service at the bar, prompt and efficient. The beer and other drinks selection is very good. Many bottles and quite long draft list. Wine and cocktails as well, makes me AND my Wife happy. The food is awesome, a fusion of Asian/Vietnamese and Eli's BBQ!!!!! Great alliance! I find the exposed bricks and reclaimed wood very appealing. The multi level interior is awesome and the bar stools are soft and comfy. Great for watching sports! Big screens, yet so well blended they are not in a way or right in your face. Well done! Just a great feel-good place. And my banh mi was fantastic! Even the side salad was really good, and I really liked the spicy sunflower seeds they used on it. What a cool place! The owner is SO friendly. We have been here a couple times now and had a birthday party and they were so accommodating. The atmosphere is very cool with exposed brick and a wooden bar. I had the wings with the spicy Eli's BBQ sauce and they were delicious! Can't wait to try the other foods. They are putting in new games like shuffleboard very soon! And there is a connect four game outside. We have been here several times and will continue coming back, it's one of our new favorites! read more

I've been here so many times, but never left a review, this place speaks for itself. Such good food, beer, and atmosphere. I've had almost everything on the menu from salad to wings, fries and burgers. It's all good. just last week, we ordered take out since they brought back the Burger....it was delicious, i'm sad i didn't take a picture of it to post on here. I recommend ordering some take out in this time of Shelter-in-place. you will not be disappointed. When restaurants open back up tot he public, i will go here and drink some of their great beer selection on draft. always some good stuff that you don't normally see at a bar. read more
