It was my first time at the Hamilton. I came with a big group of 9 celebrating a birthday. They took us to a table at the corner of the restaurant that felt super private and cozy. The restaurant is huge and so many different areas and tables and also a huge bar area. Our service was great, we had many waiters attending us and brought our drinks and food out really fast and took plates in between as well. Everyone loved their meals, their menu has a wide selection and variety of food. I got the shrimp tempura bento and left my plate clean because of how good it was. The only thing I wish they had was a bigger selection of cocktails. I tried two drinks, birds the word and a spritz cocktail and they were just too sour for me but if you like sour maybe you would like them!
4 1/2 Stars. We ended up here at the bar on a Friday night. I recommend making reservations for a table since this is a sister restaurant of the Old Ebbitt's Grill restaurant chain. The restaurant is massive and is popular for locals and tourist. There is no table service for the high-top tables at the bar, so you need to place your orders at the bar and they'll bring your beverages and entrees to your table. We started off with shrimp tempura and caterpillar rolls, Angus cheeseburger sliders, grilled octopus, ragu Americana and rigatoni. For dessert we indulged in coconut mousse and cherry blossom dessert. All the food was solid, and I was impressed with the rolls and tender octopus, which I could cut with a fork. Our server was on point & friendly, and the interior decor and atmosphere is really upbeat. I recommend the Hamilton, but book your reservations in advance.
Made brunch reservations and were promptly seated on our time in a very comfortable booth seating. It was pleasant sunny day in DC, and Marcus, our server was quick to welcome us and take down our order. Booth setup was fantastic, noise levels on the lower end, and sunny! Our order included Cream of Crab Soup ($10.99), Zucchini & Basil Frittata ($19.99), Shrimp & Gritts ($24.99), Kids Pizza, and a side of Truffle-Rosemary Fries ($9.99). Food was in-line with expectations and the Frittata was excellent and based on Marcus' recommendation. The Truffle Fries were fresh and tasty too! Food arrives within 15-mins of placing the order and we felt the menu was priced well. Overall, we had an excellent experience and were glad we chose this place for brunch on our final day in DC! Will visit again and will recommend to friends and family for its excellent food and service, and a great location!
Literally incredible. The Hamilton is iconic in DC and I can definitely see why. It's a huge and elegant dining space right outside of The White House. We sat the wood paneled bar for some cocktails and bites and I have never felt classier! I started with a fig spritz which was perfectly refreshing. Charcuterie was such a good choice. They have a variety of a la carte meats and cheeses. We tried prosciutto and goat and both were so good and came with a variety of cute accompaniments. My sandwich absolutely stole the show. A turkey BLT on the most delicious everything ciabatta roll with pimento cheese spread. Literally all of my favorite things on one sandwich. Perfection! For an incredible brunch in DC this is truly a must.
I ordered the Hamilton Caesar salad with steak and it was one of the best Caesar salads I ever had. The cocktail special made with Hakuto Japanese gin was really good and I anticipated it would land on the sweeter side so I ordered a pot of earl Gray tea to balance it out. I ordered the sashimi Hamilton Platter selection; this being the first time I ordered late night sushi in a setting more reminiscent of a dimly lit steak house so I had to look a bit closer at the sashimi to see the quality but it was really great. I found this great late night dining destination through Yelp. One thing I would change (if I could) would be to have the restaurant ask the squad or patrol car outside that had its blue and red lights flashing the entire time illuminating the entire dining hall for the duration of my entire meal to possibly park thirty feet away. It was clear that in DC every .75 miles at night there's a patrol car posted to just keep watch. There was no reason for the flashing to be the first and foremost thing I remember about this restaurant. The squad car can move 35 feet and not have this room feel like it's in an actor crime scene.
I was wowed by this place on my last night in D.C. People in my group who were also staying at the nearby JW Marriott kept raving about this place, so I opted to check it out for dinner and drinks. The food was phenomenal, fresh, and I had one of the best Cesar salads I have ever tasted. You could tell the dressing was just prepared and the freshness of the greens were on point. The jumbo lump crabcake was worth the price for a splurge and sitting at the bar was a treat watching Dan, one of the expert bar tenders, work his craft. I had a sparkling Rose' and a French Martinis, expertly crafted and shaken to perfection. The volume and vibe of the afterwork D.C. crowd was kind of refreshing after a long day on foot at the Capitol. I will surely return, next time I am in the area, as the menu is extensive and inviting.
The Hamilton was a good place to have a quick late lunch, and we were able to get in without a reservation (other places nearby were packed with an hour wait time). The service was very nice, and the ambiance was classic. They do have cool booths with lots of privacy. The food was a bit of a disappointing. Everything was very average, and not worth a price tag. Tons of other places nearby but, of course, you would need to plan ahead and make a reservation if you have something particular in mind.
This is just your average American restaurant. I've been to their sister restaurants like Clyde's and Old Ebbiets. I prefer those over the Hamilton personally because the service is better. The restaurant itself is very pretty, bright, spacious, white table clothes and on the chiller side. Some folks kept their winter coats on. We started with the calamari which was a huge portion and perfectly cooked. The wedge salad was perfect for two to split but it needed more blue cheese dressing. The burger and fries was juicy and perfectly cooked. Fries were served hot. Steak was perfectly cooked. Mac and cheese was more of pasta and Alfredo than true cheesy mac and cheese. I'd skip it. Overall it's a solid B+ American restaurant. We will be back to the other sister restaurants for happy hour.
Outstanding restaurant with the most delicious and one of the most affordable burgers around. The service was fantastic especially during the height of rush hour, the ambiance was historic but also modern at the same time and I really appreciated all of the staff for not rushing us after we finished eating despite how crowded it was.
Came in on a Monday at 4pm, the bars area were popping. My kids chose this restaurant because its called Hamilton, aka Alexander Hamilton. We were seated right away. The sushi is legit here , Japanese rice, good quality sashimi, even better, 2-5pm is 5$ off sushi rolls. Cheeseburgers was so juicy, cooked to medium rare, as asked. I have to say, this restaurant food is good. Our Waiter was so attentive and the restaurant is very nice, high ends looking. So many seatings , bars or booths, give a very nice vibe. I saw sign of live entertainments stage, would definitely come and see
The ambiance, service, and food were all great. The place was jumping at 5pm on a Wednesday. Looks like a happy hour haunt for local workers. From the warm welcome upon arriving, to the short 2-3 minute wait for our 5PM reservation, to the quick seating by our server, we had a great time. Our server Santi(ago) was attentive, helpful, available and friendly. My group was there for a quick dinner before a show at The Warner Theater. The entire Hamilton's team was committed to getting us served and out on time. We had the steak frittes, salmon, crab soup, calamari and delightful dessert. All were served hot and tasty. The salmon was a little bland, but they brought out a sauce that added a bang to it. Anyway, all in all Hamilton is tops! Go!
I recently dined at The Hamilton with my sister, and it was a delightful experience! Located conveniently near the White House, this restaurant boasts a diverse menu that caters to a variety of tastes. While The Hamilton is known for its crab cakes, I opted for the district wings, which were absolutely delicious. They came with an incredible mumbo sauce that had just the right balance of flavor and crispness. My sister did indulge in the crab cakes as well as the Italian Wedding soup, and she was quite pleased with her choices as well. I also tried the crispy shrimp salad, which was fantastic. The flavors were vibrant, and while I couldn't finish the whole thing, I took it back to my hotel room. Even as leftovers, it was a treat I couldn't wait to dive into! The wine selection was excellent, and I enjoyed two glasses that complemented our meals beautifully. The service was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Hamilton for lunch or dinner. The combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service makes it a must-visit spot in DC. I believe it's associated with another restaurant nearby, which adds to its charm. Th only reason I didn't give a five is because the host sat a group before us even though he said we were next. He seemed biased . . . I didn't like that.
I didn't do much research before making a reservation, but I always notice the large crowds whenever I drive by. I knew I had to check it out. Wasn't too busy for a Tuesday night, as it was pouring. Our party of two were seated in the large dining room. I was surprised to see how big the space is. We walked from the bar area, through one room and then ended up in the large dining space. We scored a great booth along the window. We started dinner with the delicious Autumn Market Salad, already spilt into two when they arrived at the table. We also ordered the Chili-Garlic Broccolini to enjoy along with our main dishes. I had the Hamilton Burger with a side of truffle fries. Burger cooked to medium and tasty, crispy fries to go along with it. I tried some of my friend's Salmon and it was delicious too. It was more than enough food for two people. I was so stuffed that I had to remove the burger bun. Service was fast and friendly. Loved the décor, space, and over vibe of the place. Will be coming back with future guests. Parking is not great in the area. If you're driving, give yourself some time to find parking. read more
Nice bar area. Sushi is $5 off during HH so about $12-14 each but sadly the rice was mushy. Not sushi rice, however, fish was fresh and server was attentive and friendly. Beers were about $10-13 which seems standard for DC. read more

We were going to eat at The Willard which was too crowded. Our lucky day someone suggested this great place. The service was great and the food outstanding. I had a Hamilton burger. Fabulous burger. Bartender made a tasty Manhattan. Spent time at the high tabletops just enjoying ourselves. Highly recommend this place. read more
Had a great meal at The Hamilton. We went in to eat before attending a show at National Theater and it was the right option (and very closeby). The salmon entree was definitely a standout. Sweet Heat was a great drink as well. Our waitress was really nice and she was so helpful at recommendations and working with food allergies I had. Highly recommend coming here. read more

omg omg omg. i try espresso martinis everywhere i go and rate them, this is one the best ones i have ever had. the STEAK WAS INSANELY good the calamari was delicious omg. the tequila shots were okay but i hate liquor lol its not supposed to taste good anyway 10/10 service. the restaurant was beautiful and i love the dim lighting. read more
We have been a few times both for regular dines and banquets. The food is very good and the team is, as well. Tonight, we just did sushi. Overall, it was fresh and good. Nigiri had great eye appeal, but rolls were not extremely impressive. Fire Dragon Roll was tasty, but the Queen Trident was pretty basic. We also had a miso soup and a cream of crab soup. Both were delicious. Nice selection of sake and some good Japanese Whiskeies. Server Andrew was excellent! read more

The Hamilton is really a staple in DC and it's consistently and quality is appreciated by many. Their ability to serve a large amount of customers is a testament to the organization behind the restaurant. When DC is busy, The Hamilton is busy, so is definitely make a reservation if you can just to be safe. I've gotten a drink and waited by the bar, and I can't really recommend it since people are consistently pushing by you to get somewhere (whether staff or customer). The vibe of this place is typically busy, so not my choice for an intimate date or quiet night. The food is very solid overall, with the star of the show strangely being their seafood, particularly their sushi. While it does taste fresh and is decently priced, the setting could not getting farther from a Japanese restaurant. I just find this part of their menu odd even though it is a pull for a lot of people. The Hamilton Burger is solid but a complete mess to eat. My side salad flavorful but unfortunately was soggy indicative that it was probably made in a big batch hours ago. The mumbo wings were tasty and well fried, but didn't come with any dipping sauce or veggies like wings usually do so the presentation looked odd read more
The inside felt a little outdated. Our server was very friendly and helped us all make our choices off our lunch. The food honestly could have been a better. We all felt like something was missing from each plate. Maybe just a bit more flavor, not sure. My favorite was the side of Cesar salad that came with my burger. read more

The interior of the restaurant was super cool! We were seated in a booth that a had doors so we could close it off or keep it open and it felt like a regular booth. The waiters were also super nice and we got our food fast despite it being busy. The Caesar salad..... literally the best Caesar salad I've ever had. You need to get it. All the other food was good too! The bread and butter was delicious, definitely get it. The sushi was also amazing, as well as the burger. Would come back! read more

What a great restaurant! The inside is gorgeous. Both elegant and artsy with a welcoming vibe. Their menu is much too expansive to get the full experience in one visit. From pasta made from scratch, which we ordered, to sushi. We ordered the double cut lamb chops, the crab lump cake with a side of rigatoni. The rigatoni is made fresh with enough short rib to be the main course and not a side dish. The crab was both meaty and sweet. The lamb chops were juicy, cooked to perfection and they too did not disappoint. The service did not skip a beat, and even gave us some history on the restaurant and the DC famous mumbo sauce. Highly recommend this place, even if just for drinks and wings at the bar. read more

The Hamilton is a DC classic for a reason. With its classic architecture and great location, this is a must-go for all in rhetorical area and visiting. Came here with a group for lunch after a White House event and it did not disappoint. We were seated in a round table room that was spacious and intimate. The food was tasty! From sushi rolls to pasta and my crab cakes, everyone enjoyed their meals. The wait staff was accommodating and friendly. Excited to go back to the Hamilton to try their Happy Hour soon! read more

My sister and I had Valentine's Day dinner here. We picked it last minute so we told ourselves that even if we couldn't dine, no worries because it was a holiday. We lost our grandfather days ago and haven't been in the planning spirit nor wanted to be with anyone else so we didn't have a reservation and was just taking a chance. The place was super packed but the staff was soooo friendly and helpful. They let us know that we would be able to get a table but it may be over an hour wait. We still were okay with that and figured by the time we look for good parking and walk back , that would cut our wait time down to half. We decided to put our names down. Less than 30 minutes later, we received a text saying our table was ready. We were seated in a nice quiet corner. Tables closer to the bar were a little more noisier. Our waitress was helpful with making choices from cocktails, appetizers, and main courses. I've been to the Hamilton probably more than any other place in DC because it's been around for so long and they have never disappointed. This experienced topped them all. We both needed this and they delivered. They were so friendly and at a time it really mattered. Even being there later than what I am used to, the service was still amazing. They didn't rush us ( as some places do when it's closer to the end of the night) and our food was still amazing . Of course, I'll be back. read more

I ordered the scallops which were served with farro, shiitake mushrooms, and spinach in a vanilla butter sauce with lemon relish and the combination of flavors was perfect. I went to The Hamilton for the first time on a Thursday around 5pm. It was very crowded! I would definitely get there earlier if you want to get a table or a place to sit at the bar. The ambiance was great. The restaurant has dim lights and it's very relaxing. The food was delicious. I got a Brussels sprout salad with chicken and a mustard vinaigrette dressing. The chicken on the salad was cold, but it still tasted so delicious. My friend got a Caesar salad. He said it was good, but very small and needed protein on it. The service at the bar was great. Lots of positive parts, with one big negative. On the great side, the weekend brunch is fantastic. Sushi was great. The burger was solid. Nothing to complain about when it comes to the food. For service, our waiter was good. Pretty attentive to us. Not exactly a talker, but that didn't take away from the meal. For ambiance, love the space the Hamilton is in. It was certainly a lively brunch crowd, but not too loud that we couldn't talk to each other. The big negative - pretty bad Old Fashioned cocktail. I didn't ask for anything in particular, just a standard Old Fashioned. But nothing about it was great - the rock/ice was a weird shape and size for the glass and wasn't the best balanced cocktail. With a large party and reservation, we were seated early, as we arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation. Our server, David, was very cordial and attentive. We did have an issue with one entree not being served when all others were. Approximately 15-20 minutes later than all other entrees, which was frustrating. Lots of entrees, appetizers and desserts offered, all were as expected I believe. Great location! read more

This place was a little overhyped. The decor was beautiful, but the rock music did not match the energy of the restaurant. In addition, the dress code is not strict at all. We walked im to find people in Nike Techs and sweatpants. In reference to the food, the firecracker roll was good as well as the shrimp tempura, however I was disappointed to find a shrimp shell upon eating my roll. The service was subpar. We had to speak to 6 different waiters to get what we needed. In addition, our main waiter seemed to lack communication with the other staff as he was not up to date on our request of a surprise dessert for my friend's birthday. I would not recommend coming here. read more

Are here on our first night of our Christmas vacation to DC before seeing The Nutcracker around the corner. First the restaurant is beautiful. All the rooms are beautiful. The seams hanging from the ceiling are gorgeous. Everything's e had was delicious. It ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. Highly recommend the BUTTERNUT SQUASH CRESTE DI GALLO. We almost went back on the last day to get it again. I can't wait to book our next trip just to go here and have this again. It was that good. We had a handful of cocktails and a dessert and everything was phenomenal. Highly highly recommend stopping by. Also, just a random note but it was such a smart touch, the cafe lamps on the booth tables have usb ports to charge your phone. read more

Staying so nearby to The Hamilton, I needed to give it a try! Since we were starving, we decided to get some appetizers to include both the smoked trout dip and the district wings. I preferred the wings appetizer more just because the amount of wings that were served as well as the sweet sauce on the wings. For an entree, I decided to get the Hamilton burger and it wasn't anything that special, just your typical burger from a restaurant. Maybe I should've gotten something more exciting, but it did the job. I enjoyed the sunny side up egg on the burger and the fact it was served open bun so you can see what's within the burger. I would definitely go back and try some other options on the menu. The sushi looked fantastic and knowing they are known for their sushi I should've ordered that. Now I know for next time read more

Service was just awful. We got forgotten to start off with. Waited and waited to just get anyone to take a drink order. Someone came by poured water and acted like we were putting him out (having to fill our glasses, we didn't ask, FYI). Finally, had our order taken. Then handed off to another waiter for some unknown reason. Drinks forgotten. Had to ask for them to be brought. An I know delay in bringing my wife's order, it didn't come with mine. Food came, temperature was "room temperature" at best, even the soup. No follow up no drink refills. When offered deserts, asked for ice tea refill and check. Got the check, never saw the refill. The bathrooms were filthy. And when you see them this bad, you just assume the kitchen looks the same. I've attached photos of the men's room. My wife said the women's was the same. $85.00 for two meals, one ice tea and water! I get DC is expensive, but at least most places provide good service in a clean environment. read more

Owned by Clyde's restaurant group (who also owns Clyde's and Old Ebbit Grill), this is an exceptional place to dine. With elegant and sophisticated rooms, professional dining staff, cool decor, two bars, and a music venue underground, it offers a lot. While Old Ebbit Grill has happy hour oysters, The Hamilton has Happy Hour Sushi, where they take $5 off the sushi prices from 2-5 PM or 10 PM - 1 AM. Since we visited outside of happy hours, we tried the Queen Trident Roll, which is the only roll ineligible for the discount. FOOD: The menu is virtually the same between all the restaurant groups, except The Hamilton is known for their sushi, has more steak options, and fish. For these reasons, I would say this is probably one of the better restaurants owned by Clyde's since they have more options. DESSERT: Once more, The Hamilton offers another unique experience, since they have boozy and regular milkshakes. However, one can also order one to drink during the meal as well (although it's not on the regular menu). The milkshakes are delicious and not massive, so I would recommend each person order their own. read more
After museum hopping, a stop at the Hamilton was much needed for lunch. We walked in and were seated immediately. I loved the entire vibe of the restaurant it was really cozy and relaxing. We ordered the smoked trout dip as a starter and I really enjoyed the bread it was served with. As a main I had the shrimp and grits. The dish came with a lot of shrimp and small pieces of andouille sausage. I liked that the sausage was chopped into small pieces. The dish had a very slight kick to it at times. I really loved it. We had an order of fries at our table that were so crunchy and hot the entire time we ate them. We continued to eat the fries after our plates were cleared and the fries were still hot and delicious. Make sure to get the truffle fries 10/10 recommend! read more

We loved this restaurant. Great gluten free options. The crab fried rice was great, and the sushi was fantastic. But the real winner was the gluten free apple galette dessert. That was one of the best desserts I've had anywhere. The restaurant was huge and beautiful. Comfortable seating. Helpful server with my allergy. We will definitely come back. read more

Ambiance is nice. Like the booths that have the doors for privacy. The ladies at the register/front were not on top of their game even though they were not busy. They messed up on my order and I had to return to tell them they forgot to give me part of my order. Thankfully I had only just walked out. They were not knowledgeable in the menu either. The food was ok. They don't have all the the food items that their own restaurant posted on YELP. I went there for on of the pastas they posted and they didn't have it. read more
If you have money to spend, this is the place to eat! I had a reservation for two at 6:30pm, and we were seated almost immediately. It appears to look super fancy inside, but I walked in with jeans and a regular shirt and didn't look different from other guests. There was many kids nearby, so it was more child-friendly than I thought too. We was given bread and butter for starters, and I ordered the Farde Island Salmon with butternut and spinach (with a side of mashed potatoes), and my family member had the Lemon-herb Jumbo Shrimp. Everything was absolutely amazing! The salmon was the star of the show; rich in flavor with a crispy top, and the butternut-spinach medley complimented it well. I would have this meal at my future wedding; that's how delicious it was. The portion was just enough for a small eater like me to complete and feel full. The service was so quick, we didn't even spend a full hour in the restaurant before we were back in our hotel room. So if you want something swift, with unforgettable meals, and you can afford it, then reserve your spot next time you're in D.C. read more

After a day exploring a nearby museum; decided to stop here for some grub. It's very confusing where the entrance is; multiple areas to sit here and multiple entrances. Finally figured out where the hostess stand was to get a table. Ordered a chicken sandwich; packed with flavor . Very tender and juicy. Ordered a side salad; salad was very refreshing and crisp and a good portion. Be specific on a certain dressing you want ; or they will automatically put some kind of vinaigrette on it. Ordered a side of macaroni... I think honestly it needed more cheese ; and to be hotter. Nobody wants Mac and cheese with barley any cheese on it and it to be lukewarm. The service was good; always had drinks filled and checked on us. Very presidential vibe and ambiance inside. read more

I don't think they have a particular size limit, just call in advance to block the space.

I had to order my Sushi upstairs. They have a seperate menu for the theater. This may have changed. I have not been in the theater in a couple of years. I would def call and check.

I've been there and did not see pizza on the menu. Just visited the website menu - no pizza.
Happy hour deals are only on sushi, no drinks specials?
They do have a 720 ml bottle of sake for $25 during happy hour as opposed to $30. It's a nice sake that pairs well with their sushi!
Where is a good place to park and is it validated?
You can pay to park on the street or pay to park in a garage. They do not validate parking. There is no free parking.

How do people dress for night time concerts on the weekend?
I eat at The Hamilton all the time but I've only been to two shows there. I've seen people in everything from casual to dressy. Definitely not black tie unless they have another event before or after the concert.
Is this place ok for kids? I will be traveling with my 9-year-old daughter and I don't want to be THAT person with a kid in a grown-up establishment...
