Staff members responce. Too slow after midnight. Place is too loud to let the other people sleep.

Whenever I visited, I was treated warmly, and my father was always resting comfortably in a clean room and a pristine bed, with carefully laundered, comfortable clothes. He had dementia, so he was unable to tell us how the staff was treating him (and never having been the type of person to complain) we had to take non-verbal cues. All the cues pointed to a staff that was both patient and caring. Trust was essential to us and something we considered heavily before deciding on a place for our beloved father. During his final days, our family experienced feelings that I cannot properly put into words here. Likewise, I am unable to express how sensitive the staff was in their treatment of my father. I imagine that they deal with loss on a regular basis, but never once did they regard our grief casually. My father was a kind, gentle, man and was known for his singing voice, his whistling, his love of jazz and his love of the Word. The staff made sure he was able to enjoy all these things during his final days. They all knew him by name, and said he was easy to care for and easy to care about. This was evident in their heartfelt farewell. You can not pay someone to care, and [care] is what they did here. Perhaps I have not adequately relayed, but in my heart I will absolutely, always appreciate every last member of this staff for giving of themselves so selflessly, when it counted most.

They…read morerefuse to take responsibility for their serious mistakes and gaslight me whenever I confront them. The latest incident involved their failure to notify me when my mom fell at the facility. They sent her to the ER and had a contracted after-hours medical service call me from an 1800 number at 6:48 AM. This provider didn't inform me to look out for such a number in emergencies, so even if I had been awake, I wouldn't have known to answer. The Optum service team admitted they couldn't provide a specific number because calls come from various numbers. The facility claims Optum acts as their extension, while Optum says they aren't employees of the agency and that their relationship with the facility does not stop the facility nursing staff (staff in general) from contacting me directly. My mom has been at this facility for years, and they have always called me in the past when she fell or needed to go to the hospital, not the contracted Providers. From what I understand ( by research) this appears to be a state and federal violation. The bottom line is that my confused elderly mom was sent to the ER without my knowledge, and I only discovered it the next day when I noticed a wristband on her. She told me she asked the nursing home to call me, but they didn't. The facility continues to avoid accountability, as usual. I requested their grievance policy and form to file a complaint but was denied. Their regional Director decided he would not afford me this right and had the form completed by their Administration, not reflecting my chief complaint. I've received conflicting answers from the facility and the State Rep responsible for holding them accountable. This has been an ongoing battle just to protect my mom's rights and not be bullied by Administration (ignoring me many times, dismissing my concerns and gaslighting me) there because I am advocating for her.

As they wheeled me through the door, in a wheelchair, I noticed that the facility was almost brand new.... I think. Everything was clean and shining. The food was excellent especially if you're a fan of southern cooking; however, if you're a northerner like me, they will accommodate you for each meal. But the southern flare was so good, I went in a northerner and left 3 weeks later a southerner. Anyway, I had physical therapy 5 hours a week (M-F) and occupational therapy 5 hours a week (M-F). My PT and my OT people were fantastic. They worked with me to give me the maximum benefit in my rehabilitation. I felt myself getting stronger everyday. The nursing staff worked very hard to bring me the maximum comfort, provide my meds in a timely fashion, and yet those hard working nurses always had a smile for me all the time. My doctors recommendation of this facility was, without a doubt, the right place for me. I came in a wheelchair and 3 weeks later I danced out the door.

I only had one problem for the first week and a half when I had to share a bathroom with a whole family (against the rules) and the door would not lock. I was walked in on 3 times, once by a child! When I mentioned this lack of privacy and equal access to a night shift CNA, she was loud and dismissive-- ("yeah,it's always been like this"). If he was a rich person with all the money in the world, he probably would have survived a little longer and we would have been able to at least visit him or say good bye. Here they refused to even return phone calls, emails, and the only one who was allowed to even visit my dad was my brother. I have noticed since covid, that veterans, the poor, the elderly, and those with disabilities are treated deplorably especially nursing homes. Had it been a rich and famous white man, they would NOT have forced my brother to drive him places with Covid and would have given him an ambulance and rolled out the red carpet for him like they would have for our former president Donald Trump. He worked for the state and as long as a democrat were in office, he got support services for everything. Now, we cannot even have a funeral, and he had to be cremated. I do not know who to blame, but it hurts to be disabled because no one has any humanity left. All I see is the rich getting richer and those who are the most vulnerable dying. We even tried to call the VA hospital who would not even take him though he was a veteran. I am heart broken and will be in therapy emotionally for the rest of my life, but I though the war in France between the haves and have nots happened already. Why does it now happen in my country all because of two political powers in charge? I never will forget how the rich and famous in this country get all the best medical health care and those who worked for the state or were anything but rich and famous got the boot. He was in his 80s and they could not save him. He had blue cross blue shield and medicare and because it was not rich person's insurance, he got pooped on along with my whole family. He was made to go places like Baptist hospital too, but not by ambulance. I wish I could leave this country to mourn and live in peace because all I see here is no humanity left. He could not be saved and the official cause was metalosis from those bad hip implants, and when he found a lawyer to sue for them, they were paid to drop his case, and I do not know the name of that attorney in Florida or I would have them disbarred. People in this country care more about money than people. At least, there will be a record of this some place. There is also a place in Hell for the greedy who care more about money than anything as it seems people who accept medicare and even medicaid or at least in the foothills or the majority of them that I found have not one ounce of compassion left.

She had stayed at this wonderful facility 2 years ago for 6 weeks after a hip replacement. Everyone at The Lodge proved again to be exceptional. She probably had contact with the entire staff during this stay of 40 days. It would take pages to accurately state the attitudes of the entire staff. It began with smiles showing their concern to do everything possible for my wife during this difficult rehab experience. The smiles were the 'real deal', and were proven to be from the heart. She was shown professional care with love radiating from their hearts. This treatment produced contentment even when suffering physically. Contentment was the key that produced healing. Along with quality care from management, nursing, etc, they added something else to make the stay even more perfect. 'The FOOD'. Both my wife and I rate the food quality and taste higher than any restaurant that we have found in Asheville or Hendersonville. They permitted me to order my lunch or dinner and eat with her as often as I had time to do so. Yesterday, as we were trying to decide where to eat at some restaurant, my wife said, "Let's call The Lodge and see if they would let us order a meal one more time". I must add 1 more thing: 'The surrounding atmosphere'. From the 1st view, both inside and outside, the atmosphere was perfect. They even allowed our grandson to put a bird feeder outside her window. These 'birdwatching' experiences every day helped keep her mind on pleasant things when she was alone.

When I reported the neglect with undeniable proof to the DON nothing was done about it and it was allowed to continue to happen. I took the next step and called state and after I did I was retaliated against and bullied by administration. I spoke up for the residents because they deserved better care and because of it I was treated unfairly by administration. Things are done underhanded at the facility such as the heads of nursing paying certain employees out of their own pockets to work in their place when the facility is short staffed. The DON also talked to other employees about things on my background report that those employees were not privy to. When I confronted the DON about this she denied it, took me off the schedule and a couple days later I was wrongfully terminated. If you truly value your loved ones you won't place them in Glenbridge. If you want to work for a good company that values their employees well Glenbridge isn't the place for you to work.
