This New Age-inspired shop sits at the hot intersection of Drummond Island, immediately adjacent to the Drummond Visitors Bureau and across a driveway from the TeePee. As with most shops of this nature, it carries a variety of relatively common items. There are DoTerra essential oils, dream catchers, salt crystal lamps, jewelry, crystals, pendulums, incense, sage, a few books, and a Tibetan singing bowl or two. The shop also offers items handmade by Drummond residents. I'm told that the owner does Reiki sessions by appointment.
The owner wasn't present when my friend and I visited, and the very nice woman at the register couldn't answer the few questions I had. I'm way into all these New Age things and have been for many a year. In fact, I was able to demonstrate for the cashier and my friend how to play a Tibetan singing bowl. Neither had seen or heard that before.
Now, I'm not saying that to pay myself on the back. I'm saying that because I wonder how this kind of store is going to survive on Drummond. It doesn't seem like a fit to me. It seems like this is the kind of place that would thrive on Mackinac Island, which is much more developed for the tourist trade. Drummond is still remote, still undeveloped, still the kind of place where visitors can find quietude and peace in the outdoors.
I saw a notice that the owner is planning to offer winter classes featuring essential oils, homemade natural soaps, lotions, etc. I really hope she is successful with this business, but I think it is going to be tough.
There is a website, but, like so much of Drummond, it is undeveloped. It doesn't even list the hours of operation. That definitely needs to be improved.
If you'd like to visit, they're open Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00am to 5:00pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. Take my advice, owner -- open on Sunday. Make it easy for visitors to shop at your store. Otherwise, you may have to make room in your garage for a lot of unsold items. read more
