First review, don't mind if I do!…read more The process of changing your name is easy enough to do on your own, but I'll admit, it's not a fun experience. I'm so grateful that Lynne and Grapevine Independent helped in publishing my Order to Show Cause. No hassle, whatsoever. This is how legal advertising should be!

I'm disturbed that this publication comes unsolicited to my driveway weekly. I understand that this…read moreis primarily a means for local businesses to advertise and I don't really mind the local human interest stories about local events and people. What disturbs me is the clear and deliberate right wing bias that is interspersed between these other articles. Examples of this are "The Tale of Two Rallies" and "Highway Patrolmen Endorse Sheriff Scott Jones For Congress" from Grapevine Independent, July 1, 2016. The first article presents itself as being a fair comparison of recent Trump and Clinton rallies in Sacramento. It is clearly biased toward Trump. Interestingly, the article focuses on the atmosphere of the rallies and not on the content of the candidate's message (or lack of message). Perhaps more disturbing is the Jones endorsement piece. Look to the bottom of this "article" and you find that the source is the Scott Jones campaign itself. Why is this article not labelled as a political advertisement? Did the Jones campaign pay for this space? Is the Ami Bera campaign going to be offered equal space? I think not. Misrepresenting political propaganda/advertisement as "news" by not clearly indicating this to the reader is a breach of ethics. If the paper offered a forum or editorial page and printed readers responses to their pieces it would at least be a step toward clarifying to the readers what is opinion and what is not. I get the distinct impression that the aim of this publication is to blur those lines and let journalistic ethics be damned!

The purpose of subscribing is so we could get the paper to take to work The. Going online to even read the paper is a joke. You can't find anything on their website. In addition, the Sacramento Bee charged my credit card over $140 for a 6 month renewal WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION when I still had 6 weeks left on my current subscription! I called them and requested a refund of the $140 and they refused to refund the money. I had to call my credit card company and have them dispute the charge in order to get my money back. In retaliation, the Sac Bee canceled my current subscription one month before it was expired without notice or any refund. I called again and requested that they continue to deliver the paper for the remaining month of my paid subscription. After arguing with them for 25 minutes they agreed to continue delivering the paper until the end of the subscription. Less than 2 weeks later, the Sacramento Bee canceled my paid subscription again. I called and discussed their error with them at length and they begrudgingly agreed to deliver the paper until the end of the paid subscription. I checked my account on their website and noticed they had now changed my subscription expiration date until the following day. I am now expecting to go through the same discussion with the Sacramento Bee again tomorrow. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS NEWSPAPER! THE SACRAMENTO BEE IS CORRUPT!
