This is a Leonard Cheshire home. It is for people with physical disabilities who need personal care. The resisidents are mostly people who have MS.
On first appearances, this looks like a reasonably plush, well laid out care home. And physically, it has been reasonably designed.
However, weak management and shortcuts in staffing are now letting it down. It seems they will employ any seventeen year old. At weekends there are barely any staff around at all.
Some one I know lives here. Three years ago, a care worker put a hot cup of tea on the bed of my acquaintaintance, who was lying on the bed at the time!!
Third degree burns were suffered and skin grafts had to be carried out.
The manager of the Grange said no one person could be held responsible (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). However, I informed the CSCI, who responded to the manager in no uncertain terms.
A complaint to the Cheshire Foundation involved some one driving to Poole all the way from Hertfordshire, and a ridiculously long procedure which made no positive conclusions and caused me to refuse to further communicate with them whilst telling them the complaint remained unanswered.
I could not believe the systemic failure of taking responsibility, nd the sheer waste of money by a Charity.
I would now not recommend this place to any one, and I regret the three stars. Two would be generous. read more
