The PB&J (pistachio butter, cream cheese, crumble and blackberry jam)

Nothing quite beats a bagel sandwich from The Good Egg. I legitimately go there once a week to pick up a PB&J (pistachio butter, cream cheese, crumble and blackberry jam) because wow they are incredible. The flavours complement each other so well so I'm always looking for a reason to pop up to Stokey

Fabulous dinner and for London, great service. My husband and I had dinner this past Saturday night. We split the sourdough with date butter. The bread - four good-sized pieces- had the perfect chewy texture. The butter is creamy and spreads easily on the bread; it tastes perfect, with date flavour but not too sweet. The butter portion was a bit small so the waitress happily gave us another small pot when we asked for it. I then ordered the roasted pumpkin with tahini, yogurt and coriander oil. I could have licked the plate, it was that phenomenal. I also ordered the marinated aubergine with tahini and pine nuts. This was very good but the pumpkin blew it away. I only wish there were more pumpkin pieces!! My husband got the fried chicken and really enjoyed it. He has a high bar as a Georgia native and he was pleasantly pleased.

Delicious NY style brunch. Had the aubergine pitas, fried avocado with poached eggs and dukkah and mimosas Didn't try the coffee but it smelled and looked great.

Incredibly rude staff! Unbelievable! Food was average, mostly sold out of everything. Portions were small and they used cheap cuts of meat. Too much fat. The aubergine pitta however, was exceptional.

S T O K I E S. Came to the Good Egg for a hungover brunch. Interesting menu, good service. We got in just before the queues started and managed to get an outdoor seat. I can vouch for the shakshuka. It was pretty banging. They also have good coffee. Bonus.

Review Highlights - The Good Egg

The Shakshuka with feta was very filling, and the babka for dessert (or takeaway) was fantastic.

You'll have to get a reservation in advance but do everything you can to come to this restaurant!!…read moreEverything we ate was so fresh and had such bold flavors. The assortment of salads and vegetables to choose from made for a light, energizing meal (until we got to dessert) and I can't recommend this restaurant enough!! It's not overly fancy and the focus is on the food. You walk in to what feels like a little market with salads and baked goods on display that you're able to order from the table. The menu always changes but honestly anything he makes is delicious so just try to taste as many things as possible!

I'd wanted to check out an Ottolenghi while we were in town anyway, and it seemed like a great place to get pastries for my husband and kids and something more interesting for me. We walked over from our hotel at around 12:30 on a Saturday, with the goal of getting back to the lobby by 1:00. Ottolenghi was nearby, tucked into a cute, very British sort of alley. Thankfully, the place was quiet, and we were able to sit and eat a fast lunch. The set-up was a little bit confusing, with a take-out operation in front and a larger cafe area with table service. The cafe seats were maybe not available for take-out customers, but I was able to talk to the host and get a table for a short dine-in situation, with food selected from the take-out section. The boys got croissants, but I wanted some of the lovely savory pastries and deli salads on display. Weirdly, I wasn't allowed to get the first thing I asked for, a tartine with sugar snap peas that was take-out only for some reason I cannot imagine. But I did get a brioche laden with courgette, pitsachio, and mint, as well as a summer deli plate with my choice of three salads. I went with the green beans with roasted pineapple and jalapeño dressing, the roasted carrots with pistachio, lemon, charmoula, and ricotta, and the roasted lemon and sweetcorn tabbouleh. Everything was fresh and tasty, and we were able to eat and leave in like twenty minutes flat. Service was fine, despite the arbitrary withholding of sugar snap peas. Ottolenghi is a London icon well known in America, and while I don't think it's as exciting as, say, Dishoom or St. John, it's also an easy, casual place with multiple locations, where you might get some good food on the go.
