A rather lovely old-fashioned sort of hotel with lots of good-natured staff performing a multitude of duties.
Big bar, which also serves as a dining room with a pleasant view over "the green" and further on Solway Firth.
Wholesome food, slightly on the expensive side - e.g. excellent fish and chips at £12 plus Solway shrimp £7, afternoon tea £10.
The rooms are large with high ceilings and comfortable beds. The bathroom only had a shower - not a bath. No soap or shampoo, just an all-purpose body wash. A kettle, coffee, tea all provided.
The cooked breakfast was ample and of high quality.
