My wedding day was so special, and I owe great thanks to Erica Stawick with Ashley Baber Weddings…read morefor all of her hard work as my planner. Before hiring Erica, my family and I were looking at the long to-do lists and complexities of wedding planning and feeling overwhelmed. From our very first meeting, Erica was reassuring and worked tirelessly to help me find and execute my vision for my wedding. She was never pushy and always flexible to work with credible and trustworthy vendors that she suggested or that my mom and I found independently. Erica was nice but assertive with my wedding party while giving them instructions during the rehearsal, making that process smooth and orderly. She seemed to understand the many pressures and stresses that wedding planning can put on brides and their families, and she respectfully received input and feedback from many stakeholders, and we are a very picky bunch! That said, her main concern was helping me, as the bride, have the wedding I wanted. Thank you Erica for being my planner and helping to make my big day such a wonderful time.

He drinks beer, so I figured he would have plenty to drink. When we first got there right at 8, the venue seemed almost empty. We walked around and found the VIP area. I thought it might be just a bar with liquor, turns out it was this swanky place. The only hinge was that my husband, being non-VIP, couldn't come in. I had to talk to him over a rope, which was a down turn of the night. I didn't like the separation at all. The alcohol in the VIP area was amazing! I love me some Jack Daniels Honey and most bars don't normally have it. This one did, and I was set! So excited! The food was also great! They had a carving station with rolls and mozzarella on a stick with tomatoes and olives. So good. We did venture to the food area around the corner, and it was ok. I have been to most of the restaurants from the food vendors and I know their food is better than what they had. After talking to a bartender, she said they were setting up all day, so I'm wondering was the food there just too early? It tasted old, and most of what should have been hot wasn't. I just hope some people don't judge these restaurants by what they had available. At about 10 it got to be too crowded. The stage area was full and there were just people everywhere so we left. Overall great night for a great cause. The vendors were more than generous, I think next time we might just have to splurge for the upgrade VIP :).

Through its annual holiday party and other yearly events, Second String Santa raises money and delivers thousands of gifts and school supplies to needy children in our area. The 2009 event occurred at the NBA Bobcats Arena in the city of Charlotte. This formal event involved complimentary beer and wine along with catered food. For $100, a VIP section was available in the PSL section of the arena. As I'm constantly reminded by folks in town....this IS a small town, so this was one of the biggest social events of the year at least as it pertains from a charity perspective. The annual event has a $30 cover charge plus provide a toy for a child. When I attended this event last week, there were a massive amount of huge cardboard boxes filling up with toys beyond the registration desk....quite an incredible scene. It is always nice to know that my time and money.........and drinking can attribute to a childs happiness..........hmmmm...that didn't quite come out right, but nonethelesss, I had a great time. The hours were from 7pm until 11pm with last call at 10:30pm. The event had an after party at Suite which allowed for dancing that didn't occur at the event. A great way to get dressed up and do it for a good cause. Check it out in 2010.

Pink Petunia was recommended by a friend -- and of course you should always consider recommendations from friends whose taste you love. The moment I met Penny, I knew that we would be able to work together. She is simply lovely and so approachable. Though she gets the budget question out there towards the beginning of the meeting, as a bride I more than respected that she was simply looking to manage my expectations. And manage did she ever. Our meeting was at the Pink Petunia Studio in Dallas, NC -- just 30 minutes south of Charlotte --and there Penny and Greg have a cooler, store much of their glass product, and grow their own flowering trees. It is as though you are witnessing the creative process first-hand. It is hard not too look around and be inspired yourself. Leading up to our wedding, Penny was amazing at communicating and making sure that we were always on the same page. When she delivered the flowers, and I first saw my bouquet, I started to tear up. I was so excited, and as the photographer was in the room with us, I insisted we get a photo straight away! I am certain that, though the wedding is over, my relationship with Penny will continue on. I would recommend her to any bride looking to find a floral creator who will "make your dreams come true".

Flowers are expensive, in general, but I can honestly say that Pink Petunia will treat you right and make your dreams a reality! Penny's work is gorgeous and totally worth the money! When my guests see me or my pictures, they're still commenting on the beautiful flowers from my wedding and reception. Penny is the BEST! A++
