This is a really cute place that I have been dying to try for a long time but they are closed on the weekend. We went last Friday at 9 am. The place is bustling and there is a happy vibe with a lot of laughter. I order The Late Breakfast and a French Vanilla Cappuccino for a total of $21 with tip. The description is bacon, egg, cheese with rosemary and pepper on toast. I ordered my eggs over easy and actually requested that she make sure the yolk is runny. The eggs are way over cooked, the crusty bread is not properly toasted and there is very little cheese. There is a big sprig of rosemary. Who eats a sprig of rosemary? It is more of a garnish than an added flavor. On a good note, the bacon was good. Bottom line, if you are going to charge $21 for a breakfast sandwich and coffee, it better be well cooked. read more

Interesting place. It's very popular with the twenty- and thirty-something crowd. One enters, places the order, and pays. Then they bring your order to you. It's a nice coffee shop, and unlike Starbuck's the quality of the food is excellent, and made from scratch. For lunch we shared a Pecan-Feta Salad, followed by the Elevated BLT and the Pesto Avocado Flatbread. Everything was delicious. The gathering cafe is a perfect place for a lovely lunch. This round building has a great selection of coffee drinks, baked goods, smoothies, toasts, paninis and more. The vibe here is warm and friendly. The staff is always smiling and the inspirational quotes around the building would otherwise seem kitschy to me- but everyone seems to live up to their "be kind" mantra. I love their Mediterranean toast! The hummus is made freshly in house and it's smooth and flavorful. The tomatoes, avocado, feta and balsamic glaze make for a balanced, fresh and healthy lunch. If you're in the mood for something sweet, this place has some of the best baked goods around. The orange sweet roll (pictured) was divine, and their huge cinnamon rolls always sell out. Today, I tried the "blueberry lavender refresher" a lemonade based drink with the perfect balance of sweet and tart. I'm definitely ordering this again! Ocala is lucky to have The Gathering Place as a breakfast and lunch option. I can't wait to try more things on their menu! read more

Go here! The staff here is amazing!! This place is holding down a real space of love and community. It's a special place. The service is fast and efficient, and the food is good quality. The only reason it doesn't get a full 5 stars is because while I loved the go to church vibes, those who aren't Christian may be put off (I'm not, but I felt really welcomed and I wasn't thrown by it.) The food is really lovely and fresh, but there were a few touches I would like to see improved upon, such as fresh squeezed juice rather than bottled, and fresh juice for the smoothies. In our Mediterranean toast dish, the avocado topping seemed like the guacamole you get from the grocery store, rather than freshly made from real avocados (but I could be wrong.) I have been wanting to try this place for awhile, but I work every week day. It's only open Monday-Friday for breakfast and lunch. My mom and I went here on President's Day. I tried calling earlier, but the answering machine picked up and said they were closed New Year's day--time to change that message--hahaha! We got there about 1130 and it was packed. My mom ordered the Mediterranean toast and I ordered the avocado flat bread. The food was very fresh, but my mom's toast was a bit difficult to eat since it came on fat baguette bread. My family ate here on several occasions when we were visiting from NY, and they were so kind. We loved the outdoor seating area. The salads, sandwiches and baked foods were all top notch and delicious. It became our go to. Whenever we're back in Ocala, we'll be eating here for breakfast AND lunch. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful - great service. Don't let the somewhat dodgy exterior deter you from eating at The Gathering Cafe. I will admit I have always passed by this place and never gone just because it looks so dodgy on the outside, but decided to give it a go when I had relatives visiting from out of town since they offered brunch/breakfast. Despite the somewhat dingy grey looking outside, the interior is a cool white sun filled coffee oasis. The whole restaurant has windows on every wall, white paint, live green plants, and a large glass display full of fresh baked pastries. We got the banana cream cinnamon roll, two of their egg "nests", and the ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The banana cream cinnamon roll was excellent, not too sweet and huge size. The egg nests were fantastic. We ordered one broccoli and one regular (bacon) with the eggs over easy, and they were perfect, abet a little small. We got side salad of feta walnut salad for both and the house made balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. The ham, egg and cheese sandwich was a large size and excellent. The ham was high quality meat, egg was cooked perfect over easy, and the bread was a thick high quality bread which we suspected was baked in house. Also ordered two large cappuccinos, and they were a great size, very reasonable (cheaper than large Starbucks cappuccino, and on par quality and taste), and the baristas even hand wrote quotes on the coffee sleeves. Fantastic service, value and quality of the food. I know for certain next time I won't just pass by the Gathering and will stop in! read more

I am very impressed. I stopped here for lunch on my way to Scott Springs Park for mountain biking. The owner and all the staff are just as nice as they could be, the space is very inviting, clean, and if not for Covid, I'd have stayed here and eaten either inside or outside (where there is seating in nice weather like today as well). The staff were wearing masks and seemed very attentive to Covid protocols, though I think I was the only patron wearing a mask--apparently not required for customers. As to the food, I was there in the afternoon but the owner was telling me about their breakfast pastries which they make themselves--the few remaining muffins and maple-cinnamon rolls (which are enormous) they still had in stock from earlier today all looked delicious. I ordered a chicken salad wrap and iced coffee and they had these out very promptly: the owner said the chicken salad was one of their real specialities and it sure was--it was one of the very best chicken salads I've ever had. Ever. And on the plastic cup for my iced coffee I later noticed the barista wrote a short note about being cheerful, enjoying play, and trusting God. This is a great space, with an open floor plan and lots of natural light. It can be loud - we ate downstairs because it was a little bit quieter. It's great to be in a busy cafe, but some sound absorbing materials would help. I had a chai latte, ham and cheese panini, and a cinnamon roll. The chai was tasty but a little bit too sweet. That's a tough balance to get right, and I suspect it's perfect for lots of folks. The cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting is tasty, but the textures weren't my favorite. It was too bread-like for me - I would love to see more layers, lamination, or even just a crusty exterior. The ham and cheese panini flavors were great, but there was too much ham. I appreciate the generosity but the ham stayed cold in the hot sandwich. Less ham would be easier to heat, and would be a tastier presentation. The layout and menu are great, it's a great location, and they were busy when I visited, so I am sure they will work out the kinks over time. read more
