My parents moved here from a 55+ park two months ago. During the transition, which was during the holidays, the entire staff went above and beyond to help my parents feel comfortable and welcome. They were very kind to myself and our other family members during a very stressful move. Now that they are settled, they are much more active than they were before. my Mom's health is so much better! I don't have to worry about her constantly. She tells me often how much she likes it. She says she hasn't eaten any meal that wasn't good. They enjoy the daily exercise classes, games, and the outings. Having carolers and other festive activities during the holidays really lifted their spirits. and the hot tub is an added bonus. They started out good but are HORRIBLE now. Not providing care that is paid for, serving horrible food (who serves cold rice in a taco shell?) Just so neglectful and abusive. So sad that they treat elders this way. They should be ashamed. read more

My mother has been living at The Gardens in Pharr nearly since the day they opened. I doubt that we could have selected a better place for her to enjoy these later years of her life. The facility still looks new, and it is clean, modern, and well managed and run. Everyone on the staff is extremely helpful. This is particularly important for me, living outside the United States. There is a basic monthly charge that covers rent, meals (3 per day, and healthy), and utilities (excluding phone). The charge varies only due to the size of the apartment chosen; studio, or one and two bedroom options. Then there is a variable charge based on the needs of the resident for the care and assistance they require. That level of care is established after an evaluation by The Gardens staff and then in agreement with the resident's family/representative. This is certainly a fair way to allocate charges since some residents...perhaps the older ones...will require more help and attention than those that are younger. And further along, if and when there is the need, they have a memory care unit in the same building, although separated from the residents not yet needing that level of care. Again, I am extremely pleased with the decision to have my mother living at The Gardens. Not being able to visit her frequently, it gives me great peace of mind to know where she is living and that the staff is taking excellent care of her. read more

People are friendly and very knowledgeable. Wonderful atmosphere to live. Very accommodating to the residents and seemed perfect for dad. Unfortunately we could not find a space for him in a private room and we had to move quickly. But my opinion is that this is a wonderful place. read more

My wife had reached the point in her life where she could not take care of herself. She was confused, had memory loss, could not communicate and wanted to be outside. I could not take care of her and was afraid that she would walk outside and get lost. I looked for an assisted living with memory care facility. The Gardens at Brook Ridge was mentioned as the best facility by people whom I trust. I contacted Estella Rodriguez and made an appointment. My wife and I visited several times. Estella and all the staff were very professional and caring. I noticed during the visits that my wife was very comfortable there. Estella and all the staff treated all the residents with wonderful care and sensitivity. My wife has been there for a month now. I, our daughter, and friends have noticed that my wife is again the person that we had not seen in a very long time. We are so grateful to have her back. She, again, is a delight to be with. She has excellent nutrition, activities to engage her mind and excellent medical care. From what I have seen, all the staff there treat my wife, all the residents, and visitors with respect and excellent care. We are so grateful for facilities like the Garden with caring people like Estella and all the staff during this difficult and heartbreaking time in our lives.We are so grateful to have the person we have known for so long back in our lives.
