The restaurant area is to the rear and is very spacious, there is a separate bar area fronting the street which had a live vocalist when we were there on a Friday evening and also serves indian bar snacks. The food was fantastic, which, when I learn that the chef has been voted Exeter curry chef of the year is no surprise. Very friendly and attentive service from the staff, even suggesting different choices when we seemed to have ordered similar dishes and they knew we were sharing. Will definitely recommend and go back again for the Rarah Patties starter.

They have recently opened a restaurant which so far is a little bit quiet -went there on a Thursday evening and we were the only customers there - it is quite small so you hav a feeling that the staff is hearing your conversations! The menu is great - I'd recommend any of the excellent kebabs on offer - especially Himali Kebab is amazing! And Chicken with spinach as a main is my favourite - quite spicy but really tasty with delicate tender meat and excellent bouquet of Indian spices.

After 90 minutes I called to find out where it was. It turned up 2 hours after ordering, but that's not the best bit I opened the bag on the doorstep to discover a large bag of mixed curry! All the lids were off the food and it was a big ol' bag of random curry! Needless to say, I refused delivery. So, I can't comment on the restaurant, but the takeaway service is shocking. Avoid at all costs.

I've never been disappointed. Its good value as well. The food is varied and well prepared. The restaurant has been redecorated in the last year or so when it was taken over by new managment and the name was changed from The Jaipur. The biggest disadvantage is the Dilshad has no parking and you can't park outside but the road at the side has some parking and if you can't find any spaces there you can use local council car parks.

I like the tandoori dishes & the first time back,a Sunday, was a special offer night of 2 for 1 main dishes, so I enjoyed tandoori chicken, tarka dahl, pilau rice & a beer & at £12.40 a very good deal! There are 20 starters & about 70 main dishes to choose from My charming waiter on my first visit,Ahmed, & I talked about the upcoming Rabindranath Tagore Festival at Dartington Hall at the end of June 27 30. Tagore came from Ahmed's home of Bangladesh, so we had a lot to talk about. The festival should be very exciting & you can come at the end of the day & relax here with authentic food from Tagore's country. On the second occasion there, however, I was overcharged, so I would urge you to check your bill! It was also very cold in the downstairs seating area too. What a big disappointment. Get a take away is now my advice.

A little out of the centre of Axminster, is Cinnamons Indian Restaurant, an impressive looking…read morebuilding with an inviting façade. The restaurant itself is fairly small, but with a modern clean finish and contemporary art adorning the walls. The restaurant itself probably only seats about twenty, but Cinnamons has takeaway and delivery service, which was extremely popular. This meant a steady stream of people coming in during the course of the evening to collect their takeaways; due to the size of the restaurant, this could put off some diners. A well stocked bar and helpful, but not intrusive staff, was another plus point. After studying the wide ranging menu, we plumped for a set meal for two (£27.95) and an additional rice and chicken sagwala, as there were three of us. After the obligatory poppadoms, mango chutney, lime pickle etc., there were two starters of chicken tikka and lamb tikka, both of which were beautifully tender. In addition to the sagwala, the set menu mains were a chicken korma and a lamb bhuna, pretty standard stuff, but tasty. The accompaniments of a plain naan, pilau rice and huge portion of mushroom pilau, made for a great meal. As usual at the end of the meal, we were all extremely full and passed on the desserts. Overall it lived up to its billing as the best Indian restaurant in the area; drinks were a little expensive though
