As a forward we all have dreams. I have always liked strip clubs. A few of my close friends from high school became strippers, and a few of their stripper friends became my friends. So I learned to enjoy simple conversation in an environment with lewd men oogling mostly nude women who's job was to sell expensive drinks and cater to our needs in a very artistic and sympathetic manner. I always saw it as a Manson family gathering with a bar and poles. I am often surprised by the characters I meet there.
The Furnace is an imposing, castle like building in a wrought iron fenced in lot surrounded by warehouses and industry on a pot hole ridden street just off the railroad tracks and freeway. A great location as far as I saw it. The flame theme lighting outside and the huge glass filled double front doors are artfully set between two lion statues I just love. I passed by the outdoor smoking coral on the way in very disappointed. Not smoking in a bar is like not having alcohol in a bar. Just bad business. I always recommend an outdoor area where strippers and patrons can relax and enjoy their time in such a situation.
The door man WAS an asshole, so the internets did not lie. I expected as much so had my bag of tricks handy on my way into the door. He was very unhappy that I filled in his mandatory "membership card" with Fred Sandford as my name. It did not match my drivers license. He patted me down and found my pocket knife, and I was relieved I left my gun in the truck. So was he. When I paid my $10 entry fee, I told them to find me on the floor when my pizza arrived.
The main floor was amazing. The woodwork was spectacular, with poles that jutted out of the floor about 12 foot high and twin carvings of topless maidens like on the front of a ship hovering over them. On either sides of the main stage were two identical runways with something I have never seen before. Floor to ceiling poles on bearings so they freely rotated. The effect is truly magical.
To the far left from the door was the tan leather sofa section, what I referred to as the sticky sofa section, but it was very clean, and the staff is very diligent in keeping the tables empty and dry. I know, I lost my half full coffee twice. On the right side is the bar and dining area. Yes, I said dining area. The Furnace had a full menu, and the stuffed potato I saw a perfectly proportioned stripper named Lutz eating looked and smelled very well made.
The ladies were high class, good looking, and well endowed. Clean, and with well controlled or non existent drug habits. There was only one girl I though may have been a bit loopy, but she could have been 100% natural. I talked a bit to a Liz, and she was impressively intelligent, seemed interested in conversation, and not pushy at all. Although she was a little too curvy for my tastes, she was mentally challenging and sarcastically witty, so I really could have sat at the bar and talked to her all night.
I am far too cheap to have experienced the VIP balcony, which I hear is $100 a girl and $50 per 15 minutes, but was enticed into a $25 lap dance that was worth every half dollar. On my way out of the club I asked the doorman if my pizza ever arrived, and he told me he ate it. Oh well. All in all, I would recommend the furnace, and would like to visit again, if my wife does not pitch another fit.
