    White Russian

A few weeks ago I visited a Flying Biscuit Café and thoroughly enjoyed it so I wanted to try another location. This one didn't disappoint! It gives off a cool city-brunch vibe that feels lively but relaxed. My food was delicious once again. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Scramble which is three eggs w/wood-smoked salmon and dill cream cheese. There wasn't quite enough cream cheese this time but it was still flavorful. As always, the apple butter on the biscuit was a highlight. I noticed my hollandaise was missing so I'm glad I asked. It pairs perfectly with their famous moon-dusted potatoes. My husband enjoyed the Egg-Stravaganza and I loved seeing peppermint tea on the menu at this location. I enjoyed it with my meal. My husband ordered the White Russian which he also enjoyed. Portion sizes are generous and definitely worth the price. Our waiter, Fofo, was friendly, attentive, and easygoing, which made the experience even better. Overall, it's a great place for brunch, and I would absolutely return.

Came in on a Sunday after church. Parking is very limited and you need to pay attention to street signs. There was a wait but trust me when I say it's worth it. Plus the wait wasn't that bad. We were told there was about a 30-40 min wait and we had a table after about 20mins. We sat at the bar, yes you have to be put on the wait list to sit at the bar on the weekends (I asked). Service was great and quick. Our waitress had a great bubbly personality. The mimosa flight was a great deal and well made! Fresh juice and heavy pours make great mimosas! Side note: when you sit at the bar, you may or may not get samples of other drinks as they are made for customers. With that being said, get the margarita at your own risk lol. The food was on point. Eggs made just as I ordered. Bacon was crispy just how I like it. This was my first time having chicken sausage and I was impressed. The grits stole the show for me. Hands down best grits I've ever had. Super creamy and so much flavor. I would honestly go back just for the grits! Let's not forget about the handmade biscuits that were super fluffy. After writing this review I've decided to go back, like right now lol. See you there.

Came here New Year's Eve morning and had a great breakfast! The service was quick and so friendly. My husband got the chicken and waffle and cleaned the plate lol The grits were so creamy and good and overall I really enjoyed my breakfast and the experience as well. Highly recommend!

Pretty standard breakfast food. The mimosa flights were good and it's nice that you can choose your juice options. I got the veggie scramble which came with a side of potatoes and a biscuit. The potatoes were really good and crispy. The restaurant definitely gets pretty busy towards more peak times and it's not the biggest restaurant you'll ever come across so space can be a little limited. There are parking spots right by the restaurant. Otherwise the best option is probably street/neighborhood parking

Saturday 10 am, we stopped in for breakfast before heading to Cidercade, and The Flying Biscuit was fantastic! Despite being a Saturday morning, it was not super crowded. There were a couple of groups there post 5K. We headed to the bar where there was plenty of seating! I had the biscuit, eggs, and gravy with grits. The grits were shockingly good (and I'm not a grit person AT ALL!!) The sausage is a chicken sausage but really good chopped up in the gravy. My husband ordered the Flying Biscuit breakfast, and those "moon dust" potatoes deserve their own spotlight. The rosemary-garlic-salt-pepper blend gives them an incredible flavor that sets them apart from your everyday breakfast potatoes. Even though it's a franchise, the food tastes fresh and homemade. Not prepackaged and mass made. Service was super friendly, thank you Tasha!! Food came out quick and hot, and the bright, cheerful vibe made it such a great start to our day. Plus, the location right across from Cidercade makes it the perfect breakfast-and-play combo spot. Highly recommend!

The Flying Biscuit Cafe is definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city! The Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders are some of the best chicken tenders I've had, and the Hangover Hash was equally delicious. Great food, great flavors, and definitely a place I'll keep coming back to.

    Avocado Toast Breakfast

I was meeting up with a friend for brunch and neither of us had any idea where to go. I googled brunch place with easy parking (this place did not have easy parking lol) and this place came up. The wait was shorter than expected and the decor was cute and vibrant. My friend ordered a hangover hash and had absolutely no comment on it. I guess that says a lot. I ordered avocado toast and it comes with 2 eggs and fruit. The avocado had no flavor and i had to spice it up with salt and pepper. The toast was thin and crumbly. I left thinking about what else I could eat! And I'm a petite woman! I don't think I'll be back and was hoping to find something close and delicious

Veggie scramble. No flying biscuit with cranberry apple butter accompanied it.

Came by today on a Sunday. Parking on the front and on the side that's shared with the midrise. A good crowd here for brunch, but the place wasn't noisy. Sat at the bar and the bartender is nice as can be handling both the waiters' drink orders and the customers at the bar. Prices on the menu were competitive with the area. They even have a section for vegetarians and vegans. After debating on whether to get the french toast or the veggie scramble, I went for the veggie scramble which was accompanied by well seasoned potatoes. The eggs were fine with the right ratio of veggies and cheese. What confused me halfway through that there was no bread or flying biscuit that accompanied my plate. I had to recheck the menu on my phone to confirm that it was supposed to come with my dish. By that point, I didn't want to ask for it since I was almost done with my eggs. Oh well. I drank 3 glasses of Arnold Palmers. I probably would have had to drink more with that biscuit.

This place is cute and vibrant. We arrived and was seated immediately. It took some time to get our food but no complaints on our end. Our waitress was attentive and made suggestions since we was visiting the area. We had mix reviews on the biscuits but other than that our food was good.

The service was very good fast and friendly. The decor was very pleasant and clean. They had a nice menu but I was disappointed in the food. The steak and eggs for $19 was not worth it. The steak was very small and the amount of hard fat I had to try to cut was not good. The flying biscuit breakfast sausage was hard and rubbery. The biscuits were good and the grits were amazing. I just don't think I would go out of my way to eat here for $50 for two for breakfast.

This visit did not live up to more than two stars for food. Service was good, however both our orders were disappointing. Hubby ordered the biscuits & gravy with two eggs. Gravy was tasteless, watery and unappealing. My salmon scramble was very dry. I would have liked wet eggs and tender pieces of salmon. Both were way overcooked.

We tried this place off of the strength of an influencers recommendation and it was a good experience. I would like to try more things on the menu but the order I asked for was just.. enough. Cool vibe in the restaurant but I'd need to try the more eye catching items on the menu to really feel like I was getting that satiating experience. Adding to my Houston Collection to recommend though. Fairly priced and many options to choose from that keep you coming back.

    Piedmont Omelette & potatoes

We stumbled upon this place after driving by on a Sunday morning while feeling hungry. It's located at the bottom of the Forth at Navigation apartments, and has limited parking on the side of the building and a few reserved spots. Luckily we arrived around 10 am just before the brunch crowd so parking wasn't an issue. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated right away. Our server was prompt and friendly. I ordered an orange juice, and my boyfriend got bottomless coffee. Both were good but nothing remarkable. For our entrees, I had the French toast, and my boyfriend went with the Piedmont omelet. Both dishes were delicious! The French toast was sweet without being overwhelming, and the omelet, despite the sausage bacon combo felt surprisingly light. Both meals came with a side and we both got potatoes. They were flavorful and soft although I personally prefer a crispier texture, but that's just a preference. Service was fast, which was great since we wanted to be in and out. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal, but not enough to come back. The food was tasty, but with Houston's thriving breakfast scene, it just didn't stand out.

While we waited for our table, we grabbed drinks at the bar on the other side, which felt like the perfect way to start the evening. I don't play about service and every box you could check was executed very well here. The greeting on entry was very intentional and welcoming. The table was still pending so the hostess showed us the bar and welcomed us to wait there. The bartender greeted us with a smile. We started with wine and when the table was ready the hostess came to gather us. A server came to take our drinks over to the table for us and they transferred the tab for us. Y'all, I love not having to think for a moment lol, please guide me through an experience. Ok so we got escorted to the table and since it was for my birthday, the hostess said "I think I have the perfect birthday table for you." And she did, because we ended up with the cutest plush velvet (I think lol) booth overlooking the rest of the restaurant so we could really take in the atmosphere. Also, loved the fully open-concept kitchen. Being able to see all the action added to the experience and gave the space a lively, interactive feel. Ok back to service because Bludorn really is topping the game! Our server was sweet and was able to speak to all the menu options. He really steered me in the right direction on choices, not one miss! Occasionally other staff would pop by just to say hi and make sure we were doing well. And I just love a little attention when I'm out spending my money y'all so that sat well with me. Ok now let's talk about the main event, the food. To start they brought us their version of Parker Rolls with a garlic butter, excellent starter. For an app I got the Chilled Corn Soup with Blue Crab. It was really refreshing, the flavors were vibrant and that crab was fresh. They also did not skimp on the crab. I honestly hated that it had to come to an end. For my entrée I did the Blackened Red Snapper (removed the bacon). This dish had a black eyed pea and puree situation under the fish. It was delicious! The snapper was perfectly flaky and tender, and the flavor of the accompanying puree was reminiscent of my mom's black eyed pea stew with bold flavors. The only thing was that I wanted the portion to be a little bigger, just made me sad is all lol. We also ordered the creamed spinach because they said it's one of their best sides and y'all it was so rich and velvety, it practically melted in my mouth! Now since it was my bday they brought out a cute chocolate dessert and had Happy Birthday written on the plate. I love details, it's going to get me every time. My friend got the salmon and said that it was "ok, nothing super special." She did love her shrimp app though. When we were ready for the check they brought out a cute postcard and the check was on the back. I thought that was so different, like finding a way to make the check cute is a talent lol. Also, for our left overs, they brought us little gold number plates, which we took to the front when leaving to claim our to-go bags. I thought this was very sophisticated, keeping the table clear in case you want to continue with drinks and convo, etc. Overall, the ambiance was warm, intimate, elevated, and effortlessly a vibe. Definitely the kind of place that feels perfect for date night or a cute dinner out with the girls. Would I go again? Of course, and I wouldn't think twice. As a matter of fact I'm making resys for brunch within the next few weeks. I plan to keep Bludorn in my rotation because when a place does it right you keep them close. I know Yelp does an overall star rating, but I'm going to start breaking my reviews down to show how I rate the different elements. Aesthetic or environment 5/5 Service 5/5 Food 4.5/5

You can choose to sit either inside or outside. We went with the Houston Restaurant week menu which features some of their most popular dishes. For the appetizer, we tried the sautéed calamari and gumbo. The calamari had a nice creamy garlic sauce which paired well the sautéed bell pepper, onions, and tender calamari. Their gumbo is solid, not too spicy and had nicely cooked rice and a mix of toppings. The rice had a good bite and absorbed the flavor from the gumbo well. I would recommend the sautéed calamari. For entrees, we ordered the wild caught king clip and steak Diane. The very buttery king clip comes with sautéed spinach and is basted in a creamy, slightly lemony sauce which compliments both elements of the dish. The kingclip is garnished with micro greens and comes with an extra lemon for additional acidity, but I felt that it wasn't needed. The steak Diane had a medium cook and was soooo tender to the bite. I would recommend both, but partial towards the king clip if you want to try something unique! Lastly for dessert, I ordered the passion fruit crème brûlée which had such a unique flavor profile! The tartness of the passion fruit goes surprisingly well with the warm vanilla custard. The texture of the creme brûlée toasted sugar top was perfect as well and added a really nice crunch to every bite. My friend ordered their sticky toffee pudding, which was arguably the best one I've had yet. The toffee syrup is incredibly rich and adds a nice caramelized flavor to the ice cream and moist cake base. It's garnished with bits of sugary crumble and fruit. You really can't go wrong with either, but if I had to pick, their sticky toffee pudding is a must try. All in all, such a fun and intimate dining experience!

We were seated in a booth that felt quite cramped for a business meeting. Next time, we'd likely request a more open, well-lit table. We ordered several dishes, but the Chilean sea bass was disappointing. It was dry, lacked the buttery texture it's known for, and was quite bland. We also requested a side of hot sauce, but that request was overlooked. To end the meal, we planned to order coffee and toffee instead of dessert. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, we were told the coffee machine had broken. Unfortunately, by then the server seemed eager to wrap things up and didn't really give us the opportunity to consider any other after-meal options. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we can see why it's popular, but the food execution and service fell short of our expectations, especially for a business lunch. We hope these issues were just an off day, as we'd like to give it another chance.
