Wow. Still reveling in my first float experience. Pretty inexplicable. However, what I can comment on in concrete terms is the quality of the establishment. Easy to find, warm, welcoming environment, and incredibly clean facilities (for those squeamish about hygiene). What was really outstanding was the staff, Dylan in particular. He provided both an intake and exit interview so to speak. Providing information and answering all our questions going in as well as debriefing us on our way out and chatting with us about our experiences. We were the last float sessions of the evening and he did say that he can't always talk as extensively with people in earlier sessions when others are coming in afterwards. I was a bit sceptical at first. My visit was on Friday @1800. It was festive in the neighborhood. People laughing enjoying their meals outside. The smell of good food. It took me back to my home town where I grew up. When I found the place it reminded me of a country doctor house or place of healing. The parking is like any other in the neighborhood. I was nervous going in as I had never experienced a float tank and not sure what to expect. Emily greeted me as I walked in. An almost angelic smile and knew who I was by voice. Her demeanor and the decor within the house relaxed me. She is one of those people you become friends with immediately. She was a mother hen of sorts. Taking me through the sign up {easiest sign in I had ever done}/ going over procedure of the float and didn't walk away until I was comfortable with the bath/ amenities. I only stayed in for an hour due to my spine{ degenerative/ arthritis } If I had listen to her I could have turned up the temp. I had a wonderful experience all the same. It was odd just laying doing nothing{AAD}. It was as if I was at home but enclosed in a salty syrup solution. Almost like being in the womb again. It is an odd sensation when it drys into a brine on your skin.Thus an exfoliation of skin for free. I am 5'10" and could spin around inside. Although move deliberately/ slowly to avoid getting solution on your face. When I had enough reached over pushed a button lighting the inside. Pushed open the lid stepped out about 2-3 feet to a hot shower. Plenty of heat, had to turn it down. It was a rain shower head. Which I enjoyed while rinsing off. I didn't really notice until leaving. My energy level was like a kid again. Two ladies I saw coming out as I was going in were still sitting outside on the porch laughing and enjoying their experience. I had two regrets, not leaving time for a massage and to a point leaving the wife at home. She is neurotic about being naked in a public space even with walls. Oh well you can still enjoy it. read more

It was my first "float" experience and I was told that you should not be able to feel where the water ends & where your skin begins... Well I did. My room was cold and halfway through my float experience I was freezing in the pod. The pod did not close all the way leaving a good 1/4 inch sliver. Both light and cold air entered through this sliver and I was unable to relax. Maybe my expectations were too high? read more

Awesome experience! The staff was very helpful and the entire environment is geared towards relaxation. From the pre-float hot foot bath and hot tea to the great shower and products available to make you feel pampered after your float, it was one of the most relaxing experiences of my life. I've been floating twice now and it's a very unique experience that I definitely recommend! The facilities and the staff are great. Personally, 90 minutes feels like way too long to me, but I'm also new to this. My first time, I only lasted about half an hour, and the second time only 20 minutes before getting restless. But, I'll certainly give them at least one more chance since I've read that it takes a few times to get used to it. By the way, this is also coming from someone who meditates every day (though only for 10 minutes). If you don't even meditate at all, I'd probably suggest you work up to this. Anyway, I'll be back at least one more time, and I might continue beyond that (the $60/float cost is a little high to keep doing this regularly, but I noticed that they have monthly packages that make it more affordable). read more

This was my first float experience. I wasn't sure it was going to work since I become anxious easily. I appreciated that our host showed us options for the floats- lights on, lights off, tank open, tank closed, etc. She thoroughly explained everything we needed to know. I chose the bathtub looking tank with no lid. I was restless during the float. Maybe some music could have helped. It was good practice for being with my body and being calm. I saw the pod with colored lights in it and I also wanted some cool lights in the bathtub tank room. I sometimes need some direction to keep my thoughts from racing to an anxious place. Music and/or lights might be helpful with that. They also offered to let us keep our car in their lot for as long as we liked while we went to breakfast after the float. I consider it a good experience and I felt like a mermaid when I left because the salt gave my hair amazing curls. read more

I received a gift certificate to the Float Shoppe for Christmas (a 90 minute massage/90 minute float combo), and decided to give it a go this past week. Everyone there was super-friendly and calming, and my massage therapist did an excellent job of targeting my personal problem areas -- my wrists, shoulder blades, and legs haven't felt this good in ages! The float portion was also a pleasant experience. This was my first time floating, and the employees did a great job of explaining the process and giving me everything I needed to be comfortable. I was a bit nervous, but the Float Shoppe did a great job of making the whole experience approachable. It took a few minutes to get adjusted to the experience of being in a float tank, but it was ultimately really relaxing and peaceful. All in all, it was a wonderfully relaxing way to spend an afternoon, and I definitely would love to go back if I get the opportunity! read more

I recently purchased a Groupon to visit this float shop for the first time. It was my second time floating and I will definitely be visiting them again. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly. This made my experience all the more relaxing. I purchased the visits to surprise my significant other for his birthday and it was an excellent choice. I floated in the infinity pool which seems to be a good option for first timers due to the fact that it is an open tank. I think this would help someone who wasn't quite ready for the "pod" style tank, personally I'd prefer something closed next time. In a word: OASIS. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Once you step in this beautifully remodeled old Victorian house, you are unaware of anything except for the perfectly tranquil environment and relaxing surroundings. The staff is very friendly while still being very clear about how to maximize your results. Off-street parking and private showers were wonderful plus numerous places in walking distance for a quaint little lunch treat. Facilities are beautifully clean and wonderfully accommodating. This was not my first float, but this was the first place that I bought a float package! The Float Shoppe is amazing! I felt very welcomed by Dylan the moment I walked in, he even greeted me by name. I wasn't too sure what to expect with my first float and was a little nervous about being claustrophobic. I used the Tranquility tank and loved that it had buttons to open the lid or turn on a soft light. That made me much more comfortable. I found the effects to be immediate and lasting. I had an overwhelming sense of calm and have slept much more soundly. I purchased the Starter Package and have already used two of my three floats. I am so impressed. This place is amazing, I went on a float for the first time 3/12/14. I am a combat veteran who suffers from PTSD. I found that while in the tank I was able to slow my thoughts down enough to get me in a relaxed focused state. So last week I came here for a massage and float and it was exactly what I needed... Torin was the one who gave me a massage and he was absolutely amazing! Honestly I wasn't sure about having a male masseuse and was a bit nervous however he made me feel very comfortable, safe and relaxed right away. Who knows what he did or how he did it but I swear that he was able to find a knot near my neck and move I down my back like it was a marble and it just vanished! It was so bizarre and yet so cool. After that I tried the float tank for my firs time and it was just as wonderful. Both my mind and body were so calm and at peace... Yes, the tank had a tiny light leak in it and could use a touch up on the seal but still.. I ended up leaving feeling so refreshed, rejuvenated and quite pleased. Even my baby could feel the difference in my mood I swear. The float was great, the massage was good, but I have to admit the place wasn't clean. I was almost motivated to ask if they needed referral for a cleaning crew. The floors and carpets were visibly dirty-a real turn off. And there seemed to be a lack of "flow" to the internal traffic. Like, why take someone out of their float zone, all wet and robed, and put them downstairs crowded with nervous newcomers, jamming near the front door, only to take you back upstairs for a massage? Me thinks there is a better way. The staff are young. The business is competitive, but the place seemed to lack a mature, mindful aesthetic. read more

I am a regular at the Float Shoppe. I stop by once a week (thanks to membership rates) and float, because I've found that floating has huge therapeutic value for me. For me, floating is my time to decompress at the end of the week. I can relax, I can think about things, or I can not think about things. It's meditative. Sometimes I find myself solving problems that have cropped up in my everyday life (it's incredible what you can accomplish with 90 minutes of darkness and silence), and other times I just let go of everything else and float. Usually, it's a nice combination of both. And afterwards, I always leave feeling spectacular. I am lucky enough to be able to walk home from the shoppe, and for me, these walks are nothing short of magical. The colors seem brighter; the air feels fresher. I sleep beautifully the night after a float, and the next morning, I wake up still feeling rejuvenated, ready to conquer. Regular floats have become my way of taking care of myself. I'm not really a mani-pedi girl, and I don't get a lot of massages, but with floats I feel like I'm helping myself both physically and mentally. For someone who has always loved baths, it doesn't get much better than this. I first started floating via a Groupon to Float On. I found that I liked it, a lot, and when I heard about the Float Shoppe opening in my neighborhood, I was really psyched for this service to be that much more accessible to me. Whether you're new to floating or not, they will take excellent care of you here. They will sit down with you and walk you through the basics, and go over any questions you may have. The Shoppe is lovely and quiet, and you are welcomed to sit on the plush couch and have a cup of tea, or a glass of water. The float rooms themselves are similarly cozy and calm, softly lit and outfitted with benches and hooks for your things and some basic toiletries in the showers too. I have been so thrilled to have this service available in my neighborhood, and it's an awesome bonus that it's run by such great people. I'm really looking forward to see how the Float Shoppe grows (I hear that a new float room is in the works), and in the meantime, I am definitely telling all of my friends! :] read more

Sandra is super amazing. Sam is too. She talked to me before my float and made sure that I was comfortable and knew what to expect. Each experience is unique, but she gave me some broad guidelines which were very helpful. As far as the actual float, well, it was mind blowing. First off, you can't sink. The water is super buoyant. Like a helium balloon, you float. Second, the water is the same temperature as your skin. Third, it's pitch black. I closed my eyes, then opened them. I couldn't tell the difference. I literally was in complete darkness. I was in a state of zero gravity. I couldn't tell if I was wet or dry, where the water ended and the air started. Everything went away, and my mind just wandered. I floated above the earth, I floated through a forest, laid in the sand on a beach. It was like I was in a dream. And when it was over, I felt like I had slept for 8 hours. Having all of my senses come snapping back all of a sudden was incredible too. My float happened 9 hours ago, and as I sit here and type this, I'm still feeling very refreshed from earlier. I will definitely come back and highly recommend that anybody reading this goes and checks this place out. It will blow your mind and make you feel amazing. read more

Took an out of town family member for a float because our favorite place, Float On, was closed for renovation. The staff was friendly, foot soak in the waiting room was very nice but the price is higher at Float Shoppe for floating and, according to my family member, not as relaxing. Problems with the lights and lack of music made it more stressful than calming. Also, my massage was very expensive and just so-so. Do massage therapists not massage feet anymore or does that cost extra? (No fungus or abnormalities there in case you are wondering) . Overall not great and very pricey. read more

I found my way to The Float Shoppe by way of a groupon. Had a fantastic 60 minute massage by Steven, who was quite knowledgeable and provided one of the best deep tissue massages that I've ever experienced. This was followed up by a 90 minute float in a closed pod. I've never floated before, so really didn't know what was in store. The whole place was special from the calming atmosphere when you walk through the door & are greeted by Sandra to the leaving. Get there a little early & relax while soaking your feet and have some tea or water. Jennifer then explained to the 3 "newbies" what was in store; how to operate the pod; etc. I think I'm hooked. I quickly adapted to the body temperature water, lack of light or sound, & slinking into a deep relaxed state where the only sound is your own breathing that slows as the float progresses - a sure sign of deep relaxation. The 90 minutes goes by quicker than you think and it's partially because time loses meaning while you float in a sensory deprivation tank. Once the float is over, you can shower in your own private shower in the room. All amenities like body wash, towels, slippers, shampoo, towels, & a robe are provided. I've only made it to one float so far and I was skeptical but it was the most relaxing 90 minutes I've had in YEARS! It was 90 minutes I knew I was going to have all to myself with no demands or expecations. I actually fell asleep during my float and you'd think I would feel like I slept through the experience but on the contrary, the sleep was the experience for me! I had a good long stretch of quite and meditation (hearing only my own breathing and heartbeat) before I drifted off to the deepest most relaxing sleep I've had in probably 10 years. No, it is not like the movie Altered States, but it is something different. Owner Sandra is extremely committed to making your experience a good one. She does an excellent job of getting you set up and mentally prepared for your journey. "Stick with it" is the best advice for your float as you may have second thoughts at one time or another after you start. Without any basis for comparison, it's hard to say how this place rates, but the relaxing after-effect was unmistakable. This was my first introduction to floating. There is parking for guests. The environment was clean and calming. I liked having the option of different types of tubs or pods to float in. I chose the infinity without a lid. All of the elements such as air and water temp, lack of noise and light were just right. They provide you with earplugs, and I was glad that I opted to use them. Just miserable. I've floated before and loved it. But the air conditioner was cranked up in the room I used, and any part of my body not submerged was covered in gooseflesh. I'd paid for a 90-minute float and had to bail after barely 50 minutes because I was freezing. I complained to the staff and was told, "Wow. Y'know, I'll, like, look into that." Wow.
