Ash End House Children's Farmn - Kids are encouraged to leave their dummies behind at Ash End Farm for the lambs

This place has the usual cure and cuddly superstars. There are plenty of ducks, chickens, goats,…read moreetc. Go at the right time of year and you'll see chicks and lambs and the children can hold the fluffy yellow chicks or feed the lambs if they want. There are also pigs, the odd cow and horse too. All of the animals are pretty much under shelter too do it makes it a good place to go even in rainy weather. The playgrounds are really rather good. The thing that all children and adults alike seem to enjoy hugely is the giant inflatable pillow. It is what it says, but is great fun. There's also an indoor play area which caters really well for younger children too. You can take a picnic, but there is a restaurant which sells kids lunch boxes. You can also buy animal food on entry so that you can feed the animals as you go round. It's not a cheap pace to go, but for a day out I think it's pretty good value for money.

A lovely day out - even in the middle of winter. Its a beautiful working farm set on the outskirts of Tamworth with lots of beautiful scenery available nearby. I found it to be well laid out generally and easy to get round even with a buggy. Besides the main area housing the animals there is an indoor play area featuring toy tractors etc,. (for under 5s only I believe), an outdoor park facility (think traditional wood), plenty of grass and seating for pinics, a fab gift shop, and a decent restaurant (with fresh farm produce for sale). Parties are available with various options including a tour, hot or cols meal and playtime on the equipment. They also do craft based parties for older kids, and a 'star in your own play' option for any budding 'luvvies'. My son has been to a few of these parties over the years and they have always been well-organised and the grub was spot on. They eat in a beautiful converted barn that is decorated for the paty child. Its probably I would say got a cut off age of about 6 though, unless your child is particularly into animals specifically. We have attended other events here, they do try and do seasonal stuff - like egg hunts at Easter, and a nativity tour at Christmas - you get the idea. I would imagine this would make a good school trip location too - as there are many interactive and educational aspects. The only one issue ever I have encountered here is with parking - when there are a couple of parties on they can get very short of space.

The Space Birmingham - The Carter Room at The Space Birmingham

Looking around at the places in the city, I wanted to have a Launch event for #BrumHour at a creative and fresh venue. The owner, Chandeep has been a great champion of BrumHour, so it felt right that the venue would be the best host. I went down to The Space for the first time at the start of August 2014 and the three rooms vary a lot in size. However, they are all painted a brilliant white with high ceilings and huge windows to let a lot of natural light in. The main room is the carter room and can host around 50 people. When I came to host my event at the start of February 2015, I had 30 people and 5 tables with creative businesses from around Birmingham to share their project work on them. Chandeep was very clear about pricing, and timescales and this gave me a huge confidence boost that everything would run pretty smoothly. I hired the venue for 4 hours and used it for a 2 hour event including setup and going live. It can be used as a dance and drama rehearsal space, a creative gallery, a small theatre room or even a board room! Check out the website for more photos.

Amazing service. You know a great business when all the tiny details, from initial enquiry all the…read moreway through to completion are perfect. I am a really fussy bu**** and like things just so. I like businesses that go the extra mile. I like people who anticipate what will make my life easier. The Space scored massively on all these counts. So, we needed a small meeting room away from our busy office to strategize and plan. All our usual meeting options where full, other venues either couldn't be bothered responding or were to pricey or not quite right. Normally a local coffee shop or similar could fit the bill, but not for this kind of meeting. I knew of The Space through Twitter, as another Jewellery Quarter business, so I dropped them a line. I quick response confirmed everything I needed to know and prices where very competitive. Booking was super easy. We all arrived to be greeted by the helpful and friendly owner (I think) and shown around. Our room was perfect. Tea and coffee and biscuits provided, self serve. The tea mugs were neatly arranged, the tea spoons were ready in clean water, water jug and glasses all arranged on the table, the heater was on, the chairs and tables just right. What this attention to details means is that we could simply relax and focus on the business of the day. It was a great meeting and the venue and service received went at least some way towards allowing that to happen. Worth noting that although The Space is kinda in the middle of an industrial estate it's also very close to the bus routes on Great Hampton St, the JQ station and maybe 5-6 minutes walk from Snow Hill. You can also grab a nice lunch at the equally excellent The Lord Clifden if you need to, tho the venue does do meeting catering upon request. Highly recommended all 'round!

Back again for round 2! Still only 4 stars but only because of the price. It's definitely…read moreoverpriced! I wish it wasn't... We opted for different dishes this time and we certainly were not disappointed. We got bread and oils again although this time we were charged for them. The mister had the Thai red curry he said it was so good and filling. But the chicken breast was roasted separately and this took away from the flavor of the chicken and he'd have preferred it was cooked with the sauce. However he still really enjoyed this dish and was left fully satisfied. I got the pork belly (diet-what diet) Yum! It was full of flavor and the boys of crackling scattered on the plate were a added tasty bonus. The mash was amazing and creamy. No doubt full of calories but at this point who's counting! The pork itself was really good. And the veg and black pudding went will with it. All washed down with a glass of pino. Happy out!

I've only had pigeon once before so when I saw this I had to have it. I'm delighted I did as it was beautiful, nice and juicy as it was water cooked. It was rich and complimented by the bacon and stilton salad. For the main we both ordered burger. I don't know why I did that as there were so many other unusual dishes on the menu and I resorted to good ol' hamburger - not the most daring. It was good but I've been eating a lot of good burgers recently and this sat somewhere in the middle of all of those. As I say the 4 rating is really because of the burger so harsh as it was not the restaurant that chose the dish for me. I look forward to going again when I shall be eating something a bit more unique to the kitchen, and I'm sure the 4 star rating will move to a 5.
