Extended wait, Deficient service, Billing-induced time dilation…read more As suggested, I arrived at my appointment early (10 minutes early), and waited 1.5 hours for a 7-minute visit. The experience at this office was negative on many levels: patient deprioritization, insurance class prioritization, time devaluation, chatter overheard between patients and staff about insurance validity, and lack of care. My patient status was deprioritized. I confidently suspect that other patients were prioritized based on insurance classification. While waiting, I observed a returning patient being turned away and instructed to re-obtain a referral for proper billing. Although the same patient with the same insurance, their policy number changed. Every patient who arrived before me and many after me were seen. I should have been on payroll for the time I spent listening to others' insurance conversations while also watching people come and go. My visit was rushed, and the medical assessment lacked depth. There was no effort in service beyond what could be quickly charted and billed internally. Nothing discussed in the patient room was documented for my reference. The doctor's verbal referral to another practice was an unfamiliar name that I had to insist upon receiving in writing at the checkout counter. The doctor's price quote for an uninsured service was also given verbally, as if afraid to honor a written one in the future. They can keep the price quote -- I'll go somewhere else.

They also have lots of thoughtful touches with their guests in mind. We did the taking of the baths day pass and stayed 4 hours, but we could have easily stayed another two if we had the time. Loved the Private mineral bath, the zero gravity chairs with Sound bath, the salt caves, sauna, outdoor mineral pool, big pool, and café. We had a chicken flatbread and avocado salad, and both were generous portions, reasonably priced and very tasty. I also had a mimosa with a splash of their watermelon lime aqua Fresca, which was delicious. Staff is all very friendly. Ran into friends we had!'t seen in awhile, which made it even more special! They arrived at 9 am and enjoyed the whole day there - great plan! Just a few tips: one. Plan to arrive early, GPS may take you to the casino, rather than the Spa. Notes for Spa: larger towels would be nice. Also check out process was not efficient. We had to stand in line for 20 minutes just to sign our bill. But, overall, wonderful, relaxing experience and would definitely recommend and return! PS: inquire about specials. This month in May they are doing $200 for taking of the Waters, manicure, pedicure and day pass, which is a great deal, considering taking of the waters alone as usually $130 - $150.

As a family we'd visit The Spa throughout the late 80s and more frequently in the early to mid 90s. We also went there after the 90s but not as often. The last time I went there was around mid 2000. It was always memorable for us but very disappointing when they closed down for a very long time. We went there one time, hoping to enjoy the waters. But all we saw was flat ground where The Spa used to be. We inquired about other spa resorts but none compared to The Spa. I would call sometimes after they renovated the casino nearby to inquire if they would open a hot springs resort again. I was told that the waters were too sacred for the native Americans who own the land, so they would never rebuild a spa. My mom loved it there so much that we tried to find something that was even just a little bit as nice as The Spa in Palm Springs or Dessert Hot Springs. We never found a place like it. Sadly, I stopped inquiring and my mother passed away 2 years ago. I found out recently that they opened Séc-he in 2023, a year before my mother passed. So going there recently was bittersweet for me. I wish my mom had been able to enjoy it but it really doesn't matter since she's in a much better place anyway. I had a great experience there and didn't imagine how much nicer it was than I expected. Of course I was surprised by how much bigger Séc-he is than the previous Spa. I expected to have the same services as The Spa and almost didn't enter because of the price. It didn't make sense to me because I was thinking it was similar to The Spa. This renovated spa resort is much bigger and more interesting, aesthetically, than the previous one. The previous one was built in 1960 and while I liked the mid-century modern look, I like this a lot better. I was given a tour of the area and amenities before I began my journey there. I have been to the three top resorts in Japan, Harbin and Esalen in N. CA, and Beverly Hot Springs in L.A. Séc-he offers more amenities compared to all of those other hot springs and hot springs resorts. You really can't compare because Japanese love to replicate an atmosphere that's as natural as possible. And Esalen and Harbin are outdoor, with Esalen overlooking the Big Sur ocean high above. So it's a different experience and they're not as luxurious as Séc-he. I recommend the 15-minute private mineral bath that you have to reserve. It's one of the only features that was retained from the previous The Spa. You don't need more than 15 minutes because it's very hot. The floatation room was the highlight of my journey at Séc-he. It was my first experience doing that and it was amazing. After a while I didn't feel my body because of the relaxing atmosphere and the way you float effortlessly on the water. Your body is just inches away from the bottom but it feels like you're on a lake or on a calm ocean somewhere in the Caribbean. I highly suggest visiting the spa on a Monday because there's less people. I think Monday-Wednesday would be ideal. I have been to many spa resorts in CA throughout the years that have mineral or geothermal waters. Glenn Ivy and La Vida were our family's favorites but La Vida closed over 35 years ago and Glen Ivy only offers a small geothermal bath that is too small to appreciate because there are too many people using it. My parents used to go to them long before I was born. The only one that still exists in Los Angeles is Beverly Hot Springs but you're limited to 2 hours, which is necessary due to its size. Otherwise it would be crowded with too many people even on week days. If you seek out the best geothermal waters, Mercey Hot Springs would probably be among the best. But I recommend reading about the unique, natural method the geothermal waters are distributed at Séc-he. Because of the way the hot springs move around geologically, you get benefits from minerals that you won't derive from other hot springs. And this is something I immediately felt on my skin after going into the outdoor pool that's fed by geothermal waters. My skin felt like it had an oily, silky residue. The water in that pool is very soft. That's something to keep in mind if you're seeking the most beneficial geothermal waters because all hot springs aren't the same. I will definitely go there again and this time to enjoy cryotherapy.
