Although it may not be as big as Toys'r'Us they manage to cram in a awful lot of stock and I can't imagine there's much you'll find in Toys'r'Us you won't find here. There's everything from computer games to Peppa Pig and from bikes to board games and prices are fairly reasonable. If you haven't time to browse around the shop there is a glossy catalogue available that you can either pick in store or order on-line. If you're a parent or grandparent planning to do some Christmas shopping this shop is a must visit and you wont need to make a long trek down the A55 to get there.

***DISGUSTING SERVICE*** Been a loyal customer [family of…read moreshoppers] at the store in Bury [Lancashire] for over a decade. Visited on 13-Sep-2021 and took 2 items to till both of which were in the sale section [lots of the same items were reduced]. Took items to till and and was informed by Team Leader or Manager that 1 of the items was not reduced. I asked if they would honour the price and first the staff member stated that customers change the labels! The insinuation here being that within seconds of entering the store and picking up the 2 items I had somehow managed to remove and replace the price tag in plane sight of security/staff [these items have tamper proof stickers so if you did try to peel them off they fall apart]. Then informed that all items had been reduced in error and they would not honour the price. The staff member basically did not want to resolve the issue and demonstrated a real bad attitude. I was with my wife so remained calm, polite throughout, did not raise my voice, did not swear. The only comments made by me were "this is not good service" and that "I will leave the items". I then contacted SmythsToys online to purely make them aware of the mislabelling and was informed [QUOTE] "....our staff will not tolerate abusive behaviour... we define abuse in our internal guidance as shouting, swearing, name-calling, threatening, disrespecting, personally insulting, or attempting to blackmail". It seems despite having security staff, CCTV, a full customer account of events where all a customer wants is an apology that SmythsToys would choose to trust a poorly trained and arrogant employee than loyal customer who ultimately pay their salaries. Think I will be buying all our computing games, toys, bikes etc from elsewhere.

I always find the Fisher Price stock is best of all and always head here first when looking for something for a baby. Rockers and highchairs sometimes turn up here too always big makes and always great prices. It's in a prime location opposite the food hall and by the play area so I expect they do OK. Staff are helpful and are always restocking. Good place to shop during the credit crunch!

It's definitely a more upmarket toy shop than, say, Toys R Us -- the toys are 'top of the range' (many are made of high-quality wood) and are priced accordingly. ...well, this is Chester, after all! Quite a few of the toys seem to be original (at least, I've not seen them on sale anywhere else), and there is plenty to amuse and entertain youngsters of all ages. The staff are friendly and helpful, and shopping (or just browsing) there is a real pleasure. The only slight drawback is that it's in the middle of Chester and access for drivers is not especially easy. Because of the quaint old nature of Chester, the shop is not the easiest to get into if you've got a buggy (if I recall correctly there are some steps right by a narrow-ish entrance, with a sharp turn immediately you go in) -- and this is the only reason why it gets four stars rather than five. But if you can get there, and if you can get in, I doubt you'll regret it!

Toys are arranged in very good display cases and viewing/buying is made very easy. We did buy a number of items and were impresses with the service and the packing used. Hard backs and paperbacks, I've bought many of their deals where you can get 3 paperbacks for five pounds. The shop is a bit cramped so if you're looking for something in particular you can feel as though you are getting in the way. Stick with it though and grab your self some bargains. Of course I am starting to think that this may all be a trick of the mind and at 5 or 6 years of age ones priorities left me somewhat blinkered to anything else around but said stores! Today though there is a definte lack of toy shops. Even in the big department stores there seems to be a smaller range of toys, with small shop space given over to electronic games. Toys R Us as we all know is a toy megastore, something which had me torn between the thought of how great it would have been as a kid to have such a massive aladdins cave to search through and the slightly sad idea of bringing the kids to basically Tesco Toys Megastore. I soon forgot such rubbish when I was confronted by tons of toys including Star Wars figures and there I was 5 years old again and genuinely excited when I saw reissue Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi figures by the original Kenner manufacturer! Oh, nostalgia, it aint what it used to be.

It is always well stocked and has lots of choice. The store is well laid out and includes a babies r us where you can purchase pushchairs,cots ect for a newborn not just a toy store.The facilities are amazing tho, they have public toilets and several baby changing area so you safe to browse with the kids without worring about changing or taking your tot home to go the loo.
