Tucked away along Covent Garden, the Tanning Shop was the solution. I dropped in for a single tan and purchased a single packet of lotion and it only set me back about £10 or so, not pricey at all. The gentleman working there was very helpful, explaining the intensity of the booths and whatnot and advised me on how much time I should spend tanning. He didn't have me fill out any disclaimer forms, which I found a little bit surprising. They do have stand-up booths at this location and the radio in the booth allows you pass the time by listening to techno while you tan. I like that I didn't have to pay extra for the little wink eye-covers because I've been to salons where they do charge for them. It was not the most luxurious of salons, but the Tanning Shop was clean and served its purpose.

In light (pun intended) of the recent (really, it's not THAT recent people) findings about UV radiation...I opt for airbrush always. Hey, whatever...it's worth a shot. They've now deemed UV rays as a carcinogen, and as toxic as mustard gas and/or arsenic. GROSS. It's OUT! You heard it here! Step-by-step guide to airbrush tanning for best results: 1. Make an appointment (preferably with Ebony) 2. Day of or night before: EXFOLIATE. 3. Show up with NO makeup, lotions, deodorant, etc. 4. Go to Aurora. 5. Go into room. 6. Strip to your undies (ok, its a bit personal, get over it) 7. Technician applies airbrush tan, in your selected shade - I'm pale and usually do 12 percent for a nice sun-kissed look. 8. No exercising or ahem...other sweaty activities for 6-8 hours. Plan accordingly. 9. Shower at least 8 hours later. Bronzer washes off. 10. Beautiful (fake) tan that lasts for a few weeks, and all of your friends will wonder when you have the time to sunbathe. 11. Repeat. Pro-tip bring loose/dark clothing to wear home from your appointment. Black sundress works well. I'm sold, friends. Seriously...the only thing I miss is the freckles, but hey...small price to pay. Look tan with pretty much zero effort, zero sun damage and no toxic, cancer-causing side effects? Let's do this. Pale girl, reporting for duty. APPROVED! I booked and paid through Wahanda (£31) and found it far superior to other spray tans I've gotten in London over the past 2 years. I popped in here for a 30 min Enzymatic Sea Mud Pack Treatment, a wax and a manicure…read more What can I say, except these guys are efficient, efficient efficient - in a completely good way! I started with the mud pack. The warm mud was brushed all over and then I was wrapped up for 20 minutes as the minerals were absorbed by the body. After that I was ushered to the shower down the corridor to wash off. Back into the room, I had my waxing treatment. The therapist was no-nonsense and the pain was over in minutes. There was a huge squirt tub of moisturiser in the room, which she directed me to use, whilst she went upstairs to set up for the manicure. My manicure was great. My cuticles were expertly pushed back and trimmed, nails filed and buffed, and I was given some good advice on ensuring my cuticles were kept in good shape. There were various nail colours to choose from and it was handy having a nail dryer on the table to dry one hand, whilst work was being done on the other. Overall an extremely professional and friendly place, which I would recommend, and use myself again in the future.

It was okay, then you flip over for the facial. The usual exfoliating, deep moisturizing etc. She checked the state of my skin to pick which type of products to use and straight away she knew my skin was oily (now anyone can see that - but hey it's quite a blessing to have very few wrinkles!). You get the usual sells pitch on products but it was nice that she asked what my biggest concerns were about my skin and recommended a few products. You get a little mini massage as you have your mask on which was nice - compared to other spas in London. Overall, face does looks and feel more radiant so it was perfect to go during the winter.
