Set in the heart of town the place was full of local older men and ladies enjoying really cheap beer and food. The value cannot be beat. I enjoyed watching and listening to the men at their tables chatting up. You have the option of using the QR code and ordering off your phone or going to the bar. All condiments are located near the bar.. No shocker but I ordered the fish and chips. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that I felt that the fish was SUPER greasy. There's allot to like about this eatery. But know we did not find it to be traditional English pub fare. With that said, it's good food and cheap eats!! This was our first stop in England, having flown in today. We arrived in Dover and set off on foot. After conferring with a local, we landed here. Other recommendations were too far to walk. I ordered a Skinny Chicken sandwich. Great portion of grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato. Bun was fresh and soft. They had a condiment bar for Mayo and sauces. Very filling, cooked well. For a skinny burger - GREAT! Hubs ordered a BBQ bacon burger. Bacon wasn't crisp, but he gobbled it down. Meals came with drinks. Hubs upgraded mine to a bottle of Prosecco. Um.....ooookay! I shared it with a friend and really enjoyed it. Our food came to $34 something with a WHOLE bottle of Prosecco and tall Amber ale. Great value. The bar was lively & packed with locals. WOH! This is the best pub I have ever been to! The environment is great, it is extremely comfortable, and the prices are beyond belief. While walking around Dover on a Friday night, friends I and are were extremely disappointed with what seemed like a desolate town. That is until we walked by The Eight Bells. We stepped in and entered a bustling bar and restaurant which must have had everyone in town!! The place itself is enormous, and my group of 6 sat on these couches near the front door which surround a table, creating an amazingly comfortable eating situation. We sat there for over two hours ordering pints and food. You may wonder how we could afford to sit there and order so much over 2 hours. Well the prices were UNBELIEVABLE. I got a full dish of lasagna and salad for less than 5 pounds!! Some of my friends got their burger and drink deal which gives you a burger and a free drink for the same price!! Their pints were only about 2.75, cheaper than almost any bar I have gone to. They also have a 2 for 5 pound deal for bottles, so I also got 2 Coronas for 2.50 each. For dessert I got their incredible warm fudge cake with vanilla ice cream. This was about 3.50!! Everything was so inexpensive that my brain exploded. As our time there progressed, it became more and more full in there. The diversity of people in the place was unbelievable. It ranged from bikers to teens to families to football junkies to senior citizens. There are like two levels to the place (not two floors, just levels) and there were tons of tables, all full of people. There are plenty of TVs for the sports fans and a very long bar space for those wanting to sit or stand at it. The food was so great and everyone had a great time for cheap. A warm and welcoming Wetherspoons in Dover. Just over 10 pounds for a couple of meals and a couple of drinks represents good value (although my meal was supposed to come with rice AND tortilla chipswhen I was asked which I wanted I assumed I must have read it wrongbut the online menu confirms that I was jipped somewhat). There is a nice eating area at the back and the toilets are super clean. The only drawback was some of the clientele. Although it is a pub, they have a very large, full menu. I had the Miner's breakfast- eggs Benedict with black pudding. It was delicious and less than five pounds including coffee. Coffee refills from a machine are free. Good food, friendly staff. read more

This is a great place to have lunch in. They offer a varied menu of hot dishes and puddings. The food is reasonably priced and they even have special offers on, such as buy one meal and get the 2nd meal half price. The main area as you enter the bar has ample seating and tables and there is even an outside area for enjoying the warm summer days. The eating area is separate to the main bar area but there is nothing stopping you from eating there either. The only problem is that the eating area has seating booths on one side and it can be cold there. The air conditioning vents blow directly onto the tables and these seem to be running even in the winter months. read more

A good example of what a Wetherspoon's should be like. Good friendly atmosphere, and great staff too. Food has always been good, and served quickly and efficiently. Gets very busy and lively on a weekend, and one of the main places that the locals head to on there big night out! read more
