Well-balanced curriculum. English speaking teachers. Most importantly: both of our daughters seem to be have a great time every day. They arrive home with a big smile on their faces. read more

The school includes grades pre-school through middle school. It is housed in two converted…read moremansions that are lovely. It is very safe, behind gated walls with a large presence of security guards. It is a large staff (~100), and many do not speak English and many of the foreign staff speak only English, so staff meetings are very long due to the need to offer instructions and dialogue in both languages. There is a staff meeting every Tuesday for 3 hours and department meetings every week as well as "tutoring meetings" (This refers to your home room. My tutor meetings were entirely in Spanish, although I don't speak it.) I taught secondary so I will address that. Secondary teachers do not have dedicated classrooms and they are not given supplies. You must purchase everything! There is also no centrally-located space to work or to keep supplies. The school is an IB school. The curriculum is project based and you will be required to develop each of the 5 projects wit minimal support. You will have duties several times a day as well as running a home room. Your acceptance letter will detail the salary, meal vouchers, and housing allowance, but fails to tell you that there is a 28% income tax with-held, that there are 3 sick days, only 1 allowed every 4 months ad must be excused by a doctor, or that your pay is docked for each day absent, as well as 3 "economical days" to be used for any purpose. You may be late 3 days each month (no allowances-1 minute late is late in a city where the traffic is abysmal). After that, your pay is docked one full day for each transgression. You also will not get your meal vouchers until you get your visa which takes about 6 weeks. You also will need to bring enough money to pay for food and transportation for the first two weeks. The students come from very wealthy families and treat teachers like servants and the administration does as well. There is no discipline. The school makes no effort to house staff near the campus or near public transportation, so factor in the cost of using uber or cabify unless you enjoy walking. You will be going to work in the dark as you must be there at 7:10 am. My apartment was in an area with very little to do. There were 2 walmarts within a few blocks and a large mall within 6 blocks. There were also 3 small pubs. Otherwise, not much to do locally Within a $9 uber ride, there was the Navarte district which has quite a bit to do, including boutique restaurants and nightlife. My apartment had 2 bedrooms, but only one was furnished. They do not provide towels, or bedding, so you will need to bring those There is only minimal cooking supplies. I had a frying pan and spatula. Again, you will have to provide these. Overall, I would not recommend this school.
