    Trash everywhere
    Senai S.

For this to be a luxury building I have ran into the trash chute being nasty with stuff all over..no wonder I see bugs and stuff in the building. It's totally unacceptable... since they like to send out fees.. They need to be fined for this, because this is the first time or second time

    Construction that starts at 7am
    Natasha J.

So I placed a maintenance order 2 days ago and I come home today and nothing has been fixed. I placed my request on Sunday night. It is Tuesday night. 1. I requested a pest maintenance because I have seen spiders and mosquitoes in my apartment this entire summer. I don't open my doors or windows for then to enter. I am barely home so I'm confused how I have all these bugs to bite the sh*t out of me throughout the night. But I do understand that requesting that service could take a while so I give them that. 2. My biggest problem was the noise that was caused from the neighboring townhouses. The construction which ended about a month ago was hell for us renters but it's done and yet I still get woken up randomly at crack of dawn by landscaping at 7:30am and trash pick up @7:00z Please note I have insomnia and don't go to sleep until close to 2-3am. For the amount of money I pay, I should be able to sleep as long as I want to for however long I want to. Don't get me started on the maintenance response. I am still waiting for simple maintenance issues that was also placed on Sunday and by Tuesday night, have not been addressed and they are simple as air filters!!!

DO NOT MOVE HERE!! 3 cars on crates this morning. Parking garage gate broken, No security increased measures while entrance to building is accessible to anybody. Fees of $100 a month still apply.

How residents perceive the valet trash removal service
    shaintell t.

Like most new buildings, everything looks very pretty from the outside. It's not until you move in that you see the problems. I'll rate and limit this post to my most recent problem that's truly a deal breaker- rodents, in particular, mice. I haven't even lived here 3 weeks and already I spotted a mouse running around in the hallways. This sighting has me incredibly disappointed and stressed out. Given how tenants here handle their trash, I'm not surprised. The trash room is disgusting and residents don't seem to understand the valet trash removal service. People don't bother to use the trash chute but instead leave garbage bags spilling onto the floor. Others who supposedly utilize the valet service don't use the trash bins. Also, what are the hours for leaving trash outside of your door? It seems anytime. For the next 12 months I will enter my apartment each day wondering if I will see a mouse scurrying away and let's not talk about the sleepless nights.

Good evening, My…read morename is Kennedi, and I am a senior Political Science major with a Communications minor at Howard University. I currently reside in Vie Towers, Unit 1010. Since Sunday, March 16, at approximately 7:30 PM, the water, WiFi, and electricity in our building have been completely out. As I write this on Monday, March 17, at approximately 7:10 PM, these essential services have yet to be restored. This outage has caused significant distress among residents, many of whom are full-time students and working professionals. Going over 24 hours without access to water, WiFi, and electricity is unacceptable. The inability to shower, brush our teeth, cook, clean, do laundry, or even preserve food due to power outages has created an unlivable and inhumane situation. Beyond this incident, residents at Vie Towers have endured numerous unacceptable conditions, including: * Consistently malfunctioning elevators in a 16-story building * Frequent car break-ins * Outdated and unsanitary living conditions * Unreasonably high rent for college students * Incompetent leasing and maintenance offices * Excessive and unjustified move-out charges due to management's failure to maintain units properly The fact that we are paying over $1,100 per month in rent yet cannot rely on access to basic necessities such as water, electricity, and WiFi is beyond unacceptable--it is dehumanizing. Additionally, the lack of communication from management has only exacerbated residents' frustration. We received an update at 3:30 PM today stating that the outage would be resolved by 4:00 PM. However, it is now past 7:00 PM, and nothing has been fixed. Management has failed to respond to residents' emails yet somehow finds time to address negative online reviews to protect the building's image. A few free pizzas in the lobby do not begin to compensate for the physical, emotional, and mental toll this situation has taken on residents. At the very least, residents should be compensated with one month of free rent or waived utilities for this extreme inconvenience. Immediate and transparent communication regarding when this outage will be fully resolved is necessary. We expect a prompt response and resolution.

Let's go line-by-line: 1. False advertisement- The website advertises the Makers Space but now that has turned into the leasing office break room. 2. No security- there is absolutely NO .... Hear me.... ZERO security at this building. There have been multiple homeless individuals that have come into the building and found sleeping. I also do not want a comment to say "it is because people let them in or they go in after them' because guess what would solve that....SECURITY! 3. Concierge- They have limited hours and are not here during the day nor in the middle of the night- because no emergencies happen after 1am, right? 4. Elevator- One of the elevators has been broken since I moved in and I also got stuck in one on a weekend for an hour. 5. Canine Courtyard- more like mulch that smells like pee- especially when it gets hot. How about you stop spending all of this money on new furniture for the homeless to come and lay on and re-do the canine courtyard with astroturf that can be easily cleaned up and washed. 6. Moving of the leasing office- What property has the leasing office in the MIDDLE of the building- the Highline. Not only did they move to the middle of the building, they took over space that we, as residents and students in clinical programs, used to study and to do other work. 7. Frosted windows- Nothing says 'you are not welcome' by having frosted windows like the property manager and assistant. 8. Parking- I park in the other garage and when I inquired about how much it would be now to park in the Highline building- $200.. with a garage door that is currently broke 9. Plants and cement- Today they are removing the plants that they had cemented into these big blocks because that is a great use of the money putting them in and now removing them. That money could have been put towards items 2-5 from this list. 10. Package room- word on the street is that now they will have a code to get into the package room and that will provide access to EVERYONE's packages. Nothing says an open invitation to steal like a code to open the door. I am sure cameras will be there but who's to say that someone randomly gets access or sneaks in as well and takes things. I am sure Christmas will be a great for those with packages.

I would like to say that that was one of the most stressful processes I've ever experienced in my life. Just received my final statement and guess what, I'm being charged for things they have to replace after every tenant.. crazy right? WHY $80 to replace literally ONE blind? Save yourself. It's a scam. I don't mind paying for anything if the value matches the price. In this case, The Alterra fell short, significantly. Nice look on the outside, nightmare inside. Appliances always broken, garage door never working, guests getting towed from the guest spots (eventually I stopped having guests at all because they literally change the rule like every month), stolen packages and rouge mailmen (yes, I have a story. Never in my life did I ever experience anything like it. He illegally withheld my mail for WEEKS), broken elevators (you'd be lucky if 1 out of the 4 works), broken/missing gym equipment, and most important, the staff is TRASH. I think it would be more bearable if they had staff who actually cared. They're nice.... until they're not but if you're assertive enough and call the right people, they'll correct their mistakes... but why must I have to do all of that to get done right? I don't understand but I had no problem calling Ms. Jasmine at Grady to get their manager, Amira, right and even she admitted there's a serious problem there. They're quick to call you and blow you up if they need something but VERY slow to respond.. Currently, disputing charges while sipping wine in my new place as I type this, it's amazing to be rid of them.. Juwan asked me where I'm moving and I literally said " Anywhere but here" and I meant that. Stay far far far away!! Photos included: My dustpan FULL of roaches, each time I swept my nice, clean floor, additional random roaches I had to kill literally everyday ( this isn't even half of it), my maintenance man drilling a hole in m y door because I came home one day and my fob just didn't let me in (took them over an hour to get to me btw), and more roachesssss. Enjoy :) 1st review: Roaches, careless staff, overworked maintenance MAN (yes, I said one man for over 400 units), random charges, broken EVERYTHING.... Literally... it's sad and miserable. The interior of the building is beautiful, and the location is perfect--close to DC, the mall, and restaurants. Unfortunately, over the years there has been significant staff turnover and a sharp decline in management professionalism. Yolanda and Bria are two of the most unprofessional and incompetent individuals I have ever encountered. They turned what was once a wonderful living experience into a stressful and unpleasant one. Because of management's failure to do their jobs, the building and amenities have declined in safety, cleanliness, and maintenance. The parking garage gate is frequently broken, leading to car break-ins and tire thefts. The gym has several broken machines that are never repaired. The pool is always closed and undergoing repairs. Yolanda and Bria show no interest in assisting residents and are dismissive about serious concerns regarding safety and living conditions. They are often rude and condescending when held accountable for issues caused by their own negligence. At one point, management even "lost" my lease and tried to have me sign a completely new one with a construction addendum. The final straw was when they failed to inform residents about major construction inside their apartments. Contractors attempted to enter my unit unsupervised and without notice. When I voiced concerns, I was met with hostility and indifference from Yolanda. The construction dragged on for over 3 months--during which I could not fully use my apartment--and management refused to provide rent abatement or accommodations. Only after I pursued legal action did they complete the project and release me from my lease.
