It's our third time up here in the North...always worth to come back. I just love the Northern Highlands - the peace and quiet up here. And this shop here must be one of the best ones you'll find up here.
It's a busy place - visited by both locals and (lots of) visitors. It really has everything. The shop works together with Spar, so you will find many of their products here. But also a lot lot more. They got fresh cakes, sweets and pastries daily. Also savory pastries like (absolutely delicious) sausage rolls. A great selection of all kinds of outdoor gear and gadgets you'll need. Food, wine, beer, magazines. It's a great little shop that you won't leave without buying something. Staff/owners are wonderful and welcoming. It seems like everybody passing Durness is stopping here - and why not, it's definitely worth a stop. Or just to get your groceries if you're staying/living in the area.
Besides groceries I bought a midges net for the face here (very useful in summer in parts of Scotland) and some small but effective binoculars.
After a few days in nearby area we've stopped here again on the day we were leaving. To get some more sausage rolls for our drive east to Thurso.
Really a wonderful shop that's not to be missed. A public toilet is next to as well as a gas station with reasonable prices. read more
