DO NOT contract with these guys to paint anything in your home. They are very sloppy, will leave a…read moremess behind, and won't get it right after multiple attempts. I had them paint 4 rooms in my home recently. About half of it had to be redone due to sloppy work. This included wavy lines, missed spots, one coat areas (instead of two), paint marks on ceilings and trim. When they painted my ceiling, they missed entire sections. The owner came to review their work and had the nerve to tell me that the spots were due to imperfections in the wall. Well, I painted over the spots myself and the "magically" disappeared. We had paint splattered on doors and dust left everywhere! This is by far the worst outfit I've ever worked with for painting needs. DO NOT USE THEM.

Harold from Certa Pro, Hickory was recommended and was one of the 3 companies that came out to give…read moreme a quote. Surprisingly, they came in at a lower price than any other company. So, I signed Certa Pro's contract. As a side note, all other quotes included the shutters. I have learned my lesson that just because a company is recommended and comes in with a lower price does not make them the company you should go with. Below were the issues that I had with Certa Pro. Issue #1: The painters started on a Wednesday. They asked if they could use a sink and toilet for paint cleanup (rags that they used to clean up the paint I do believe) and they assured me that the paint was water based. Whoever heard of painters asking to use inside bathroom? Nobody I know. Anyway, since the bathrooms upstairs were mine and my daughter's, I told them to use the downstairs half bath. Who would want complete strangers using your private bathrooms? Well, on the next Sunday, my sink in the kitchen backed up, my toilet in the downstairs bathroom backed up (the one they used), and my washer overflowed onto my wood floors in the laundry room. I live alone and said to them that the only thing that had changed over the last week or so was you putting stuff down my drains and using the downstairs toilet. I told them to no longer put anything down my drains. I had to plunge my toilet to clear the pipes that someone had plugged. Since they were the only thing that had changed over the last week or so, the only conclusion I can come to is that the flooding was caused by some back-up from them using the toilet and the sink. On Day 10 one of the painters said several things to me. One was that he never worked on a job that had so many problems and that it was probably him that plugged up on the bathroom by using it on the Friday before it flooded. Why they didn't tell me they plugged it up and why they didn't ask for a plunger, I will never know. So it took them from the time I complained about the flooding of my laundry room to Day 10 to say that they might have been the cause. I think this is totally unbelievable. Do I have a written statement from a competent plumber stating that they were the cause of the problem? No I don't but I do have a Certa Pro painter saying that he probably caused the problem. I have been told by a competent plumber before that the drain in there was smaller than the others in the house. If something like this happens, say something. Issue #2: While the painters were painting my master bedroom, they dropped something onto my BRAND NEW hard wood floors and put a deep gouge in them. They did not say a word to me. And when I approached them to tell them that they gouged my floor, they said it wasn't their fault. They claim that the computer desk was broken, but I had the hardwood guys in just before the painting and there were no issues when they moved the desk. The computer desk is not broken. When I called to talk to Harold and told him that I was less than pleased about the experience so far, you would have thought he would jump at the chance to make it right for me. Apologize, throw in shutters, or something. But to this day, he maintains that nothing that happened was his or his painters' fault. And he is saying that they completed everything in the contract and the job is complete. He said he was fixing the floor as a "good will" gesture. He also was upset that I asked him to buy another box of wood. He thought that was ridiculous because I had left over wood from the job that was done. He is right, I do, but what happens if I do something to hurt my floors and want it fixed. He wanted to use my wood to repair my floor that his painters gouged. Then he said that the only way he would obligate himself to repair the floor is for me in writing to agree not to "bad mouth" them on social media with the above inaccurate information.
