The "from the business" information here pretty much sums Harrison Brothers Hardware up: "Today, we…read moreare more of a gift shop and art gallery that features local artwork and handmade merchandise." We visited yesterday on a rare day off and because I haven't been to HBH in decades. I thought I would come across something I didn't know I needed, which didn't happen. I liked their t-shirts, and stoneware/pottery. My sister likes the socks they carry. They also have locally written books in a tightly curated display. A small selection of locally made jewelry items, cutting boards, and other artwork. The staff were friendly and helpful, and, as others noted, there is no public restroom. They are not 100% volunteer staffed anymore, at least one person is on the payroll. The safe in the back is cool to see and they do have several displays of antique items on the floor as well as the area near the ceiling.

It's basically now a gift and craft shop selling souvenirs, local food/snacks, and local artisan crafts. The staff is super nice, and when we said it was our first time visiting they told us all about the history of the building. Most of the furnishings inside are original including the floors, shelving, cash register and an elevator shaft! This place was so cool and is definitely a must visit in downtown Huntsville! Just be aware they don't have any public restrooms. I had to walk around back to Constitution Park to find a restroom

I visited their current location on Wellman Ave., next to the laundromat last week, and was greeted by two of the friendliest young ladies on the planet as well as an even friendlier regular customer who was picking up some items and chatting away with me. The store has cute kitchen towels with sayings on them that would be fun gifts, various jams/spreads/jellies that looked to be unique specialty labels [not the stuff you find in Kroger], some lovely tableware such as ceramic serving plates and bowls, serving pieces, and drinkware, a tightly curated wine selection with maybe 4 selections, a reach in cooler in the back with various "take and bake" selections that I didn't take the time to peruse. From their website I learned they will create gift baskets for you; the offer a wedding registry with absolutely lovely items from which to select; baby registries; gift cards. To sum it up - this cozy shop packs a big punch! Through their website they offer 6,634 gifts and products from 32 designers and brands! Wow, that's a lot! they offer all price ranges from $10.00 shot glasses to $3,500.00 for a 96 x 24-inch triptych by Nicolette Mayer. I understand their meal offerings better since visiting their website! I was especially happy to see the offer a Thanksgiving meal option, which is so nice that time of year! I miss the "take and reheat" option Pauli's used to offer! I'm hopeful Walker's will be just as delicious! They offer dishes from 3 unique caterers on Tues., Wed., and Thurs. Tuesday is "Catering by Narvell" and the offerings are: rotini bake, shrimp salad, chicken pasta salad and sides of lima beans and marinated tomatoes. Wednesday is "Little Dipper Cafe," and their offerings are the following sandwiches: pimento cheese, egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad. Also, cobb salad with ranch, strawberry feta almond salad and the following entrees: chicken pesto casserole beef stroganoff, ham and gouda sliders, BBQ port sliders, and southwest quiche. Thursday is "Vic's Catering" offering: chicken spaghetti, chicken salad, smoked gouda pimento cheese. Do visit Walker's market. You won't find a friendlier staff! I'm looking forward to returning and purchasing some of their dishes - they sound delightful, seasonal and delicious!

The time to splurge is now!! See's Candies - some of the best chocolates IMO now serving the south!…read more See's Candies has finally taken steps to make their print here in the south - all the way from the sunny west coast! But don't wait til you're in the area or for the cravings to arise or for your next trip back to California. Go here now as this gift center / kiosk is seasonal. The last 2 years, they've only been here for a few weeks during Christmas season and another few weeks around Valentines. Now, they've been here since before Thanksgiving and will be here thru just after Easter this year. Located inside the Parkway Mall at the center, on the 1st floor, and near the elevator and escalators, you'll see about 4 stands full of mouthwatering chocolates ready for purchase! You can expect super friendly and accommodating personnel - usually 2 on hand. You'll immediately be offered some samples which shouldn't be passed up! I highly recommend trying the Milk Bordeaux (an all time fav that contains creamy brown sugar soft center covered in milk chocolate and decorated with chocolate rice). Another recommendation would be the Cashew Brittle covered w white chocolate and coconut flakes. If your calorie counter belt allows, splurge and try more than two! ;P The staff won't hesitate to open a fresh box just so you can quench that specific craving. Most treats and packages are available for purchase here from their lip smacking delicious assortment of lollypops, milk/dark/vanilla chocolates, truffles, toffee/brittles, nuts & chewy centers, molasses, peppermints, chocolate gold coins, etc. The seasonal candies are available too during their season (chocolate Santa, Valentine hearts, chocolate Easter eggs). The list of sweet goodness goes on!! And for the Kosher, there are Certified Kosher options along w sugar free options. You can choose anywhere from 1lb, 2lb or 3lb boxes of your choice. 1/2lb bags of selected chocolates like the Cashew Brittle are available. This location is limited, so for those of us that are picky and want only specific chocolates, we can't custom mix our boxes here. :( Oh well, most packages are delicious. And it's worth a try! So, don't be shy. Take a snack break from the retail therapy and stop by while they're here. Or hold your cravings until next November. Better yet, you can always place an order online for home delivery. ;D [Maybe, just maybe, in the near future, See's will open shop for good out here for many of us west coast transplants.]
