They also have a gym, a snooker table, badminton courts etc. It's a really good facility. There is even a local library and a cafe. Often they have special children's parties at Christmas but you have to book your place early.

Parking is completely free around the centre, though beware of rolling trolleys in high winds! There's also a good bus service and for anyone walking in, I wouldn't recommnd the walk alone but all footpaths are safe and a way from the road. The Rainbow leisure centre has a main hall, squash courts, a pool room and bar, a library, a cafe, a gym, pool and a smaller hall usually used for aerobics classes or bouncy castle parties. It's open 7 days a week and offers pretty much any sport you can ask for. You can hire it out for quite a few things, I've been to Bouncy castle parties here and I have been to an 18th here once. The library isn't always open though so look up the times before you go. The cafe is situated above the hall so any parents can look down and watch their children in various sports. Prices are moderate, but you can only start to book cours 24 hours before unless you're a member at the leisure centre. By joining you get to go to a number of places around Middlesbrough. The staff are all really polite and I only have one small annoyance about this place that because of the balcony you're often subject to people leaning over and wolfwhistling as you play badminton or sqaush.

New Eldon Leisure is underway!…read more The gym has gotten a huge update. It's about 4 times the size and growing. A massive free weights room. A functional training rack with battle ropes and boxing! Many more machines and cardio equipment. Really a great gym in the city centre. They also have 10 pin bowling! About 8 lanes and a full stocked and licensed bar with food! I personally think it's a good deal price wise. About £5 to bowl £3 a beer. They have a coffee breakfast combo. I M yet to eat here. There is also a new rock climbing and kids soft play. I have never used either. I did however use the old bouldering gym and for a novice like me I found it really good! Worth checking out!

There is also a swimming pool, a gym, badminton courts etc. It's got loads of facilities and is really brilliant. The ice rink is particularly popular. I have to be honest, I find it a bit grotty, but my daughter loves going skating there, and the prices aren't too bad. They have a big seating/viewing area and every Christmas they put on a panto or something on ice. This is a really popular event.

Coney Island used to be a highlight of my childhood, they had lots of really fun rides and games…read more It doesn't seem to have changed much since then and is perhaps a little outdated. It probably doesn't matter to little kids but it is not somewhere I can imagine older children wanting to play now. It is the middle of the touristy part of the beach so will pick up a lot of passing trade and will add to the fun of a day out by the beach for many families. There are a lot of very similar places in the area and it would be nice to see one of them do something a bit different.
