A cute new place, definitely worth the try! We found this place on a fluke while exploring the surrounding city area. Desserts were interesting and tasty, and the service was good. Definitely worth trying if you've never been!

Gingerbread latte to-go!

Came through looking for a lil' pick me up and noticed Dolly Llama tucked in the corner by the 5 Below. Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly crew and liked the coloring pages available for kiddos (or kids at heart!). They offer a plethora of sweet options of bubble waffles, ice cream (even bogo scoops happy hour during the week!!), crepes, mega shakes, vegan items, and espresso options. I got a gingerbread latte iced which was a great boost of energy for my afternoon. It was a little watery at the top but I didn't mind because espresso gets to me much stronger due to not having it often so a little bit goes a long way for me. Will definitely return to try some of the sweet treats when I have more of an appetite!

Mmmmm. Such delicious and creamy ice cream! Flavors vary. They also make in house waffles that you can get in a "bubble" think cup or cone or "liege" which is flat. So delicious, I didn't care that it was cold outside! We've been twice and spoke to the owner and she is just a doll, so go visit this new ice cream spot and show them the love

As you can see my son gave his ultimate Cookie Monster ice cream a whole hearted thumbs up. I didn't get the bubble waffle for my ice cream because I wanted a crunchy waffle cone with my Ube ice cream. It was heavenly. I love all things Ube and was so pleasantly surprised and delighted by this ice cream. Really reasonable prices as well. This may be our new favorite!

As a llama lover, it was a no brainer I had to visit the Dolly Llama! A few of my friends and I came for my birthday and were greeted by the friendly staff who were eager to help us and explain how it all worked! I had looked up the menu online so I knew they carried vegan ice cream but I was pleasantly surprised to find out they also had a vegan waffle option! My bowl was delicious and all my friends enjoyed theirs as well! The store is clean, organized and has the cutest llama art on the walls. Although a little pricey I will definitely be back for another special occasion.

The Dolly Llama has a fun and whimsical atmosphere. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered each of us samples as we pondered the extensive menu. I decided on the mini OG ice cream sandwich with pistachio almond ice cream and it was delicious. The waffle was soft on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. There was a large selection of toppings to consider a long with lots of fun ice cream flavors. They offer milkshakes and sundaes and even the famous bubble waffle. There were also a couple vegan flavors for those with dietary restrictions. The shop was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I will be sure to return on my next trip to Mt. Pleasant. It's tucked away in the corner near Five Below. The cute bright aqua furniture out front will help you find your way. It was definitely worth the trip. You'll be in for a treat if you put The Dolly Llama on your radar.

Super friendly service and amazing desserts!! This is definitely a place to try if you are looking for a unique way to eat ice cream. The waffles are delicious - perfect balance of crispy and soft and complement the ice cream and toppings great! Highly recommend!

This place is awesome! My family was visiting from out of town and I told them I wanted to try this spot. When we ordered we had no idea how big of a dessert this was going to be. No complaints here everything was delicious. The team was very helpful with our order and everyone was friendly. The decor of the restaurant was def fun and family friendly. Will be back!

Coffee milkshake, Cookie Monster with Leige waffle, make your own bubble cone with vanilla ice cream

Workers were very helpful and all the menu items are very fun! The serving size on the waffle with ice cream was worth the price.

Eh, I guess the waffles are their specialty, which we didn't get, otherwise it's pricey scoops of bluebell ice cream. Friendly staff though!

Their waffles don't taste like waffles at all! Supposed to be light and fluffy but they are heavy as a pound cake. Bleh!

Ask the Community - The Dolly Llama Mount Pleasant

What brand of ice cream do they use?

In the freezer at the location, they had pints of ice cream with their own "Dolly Llama" packaging. I think this is a franchised location, so it may be their own brand.

While the café isn't officially pet friendly indoors, we've brought Luna inside with us just to place our order, and no one has ever said anything. If you're looking to sit and eat, there's a very cute (though small) porch area out front. Despite the limited seating, we've always managed to find an open spot during our visits. What I didn't realize until more recently is that they actually have a huge patio in the back as well. It's such a great space and gives you a lot more room to sit and relax. They even have a lift in the back area for disabled accessibility, which I thought was really great to see and not something you find everywhere. Always love the coffee here -- great flavor, consistent quality, and a spot we'll definitely keep coming back to.

The desserts really should have been discarded and not served. Very disappointed. Service could have been better. No way the staff didn't know how old the desserts were in the case. Cookie was okay, better than the desserts in the case. Overall a waste of money and would recommend going somewhere else for dessert.

Before I tried anything, I learned that they source ingredients locally including the strawberries and cream from local farms. I was also really pleased to learn that they minimized added sugars which is another big win in my book. On to the product itself -- I tried both the Banana Pudding and Strawberry Cheesecake bars. They were fantastic. Truly they tasted fresh and had just the right amount of sweetness. I greatly thank the Wich Cream team for coming out to our neighborhood. From the feedback I heard, everyone who tried their ice cream was a fan.

They are handmade in North Charleston and sold at several restaurants around the low country. The first time I ever tried one was from a food cart at the Charleston farmers market and I've been hooked ever since! They have different seasonal flavors because all of their ingredients are locally sourced from the milk to the berries. My favorite I have ever tried is their strawberry though a tried and true is the chocolate, it is so creamy! The texture of the sandwiches are unique and what keeps bringing me back over and over. The sandwich part is almost a little gritty but still soft and chewy, almost as if it were made from almond meal though it is not. This past sandwich I got was blueberry Cheri and though good it was not as flavorful as others I've had. I could see where they were going by adding chamomile but it just wasn't enough. I would recommend a different flavor to try, though if they were to have the sandwich part lemon flavored with blueberry ice cream it would be amazing! Overall if you see a restaurant or shop selling these pick one up. Though they are a bit pricy at $4-5 they are totally worth it!

Luckily, we were able to be seated immediately but it was very close quarters with surrounding tables. The menu is vast with different dessert options. If you want to know what cakes are available, you should check out the display stand right when you enter. Since we were there 2.5 hours before closing, there didn't seem to be a lot of cake options available, but my husband and I decided to share a slice of the s'mores cake with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to make it à la mode. The s'mores cake was a chocolate cake with mini marshmallows, chocolate fudge, graham crackers, and more marshmallows. The cake was good and had everything I could ever want in it, but it was a little dry. I think this also had to do with it being the end of the night. The ice cream complemented the flavor well. It would have been better with a second scoop of ice cream though. Service was great! It took about 10 minutes from when we ordered to get our dessert. I would probably come back here again, but not so late at night so there would be fresher cake with more options available.

We waited about 5 to 10 minutes to be acknowledged while two employees stood nearby. The two layer chocolate caramel pecan cake, which our waitress initially could not find, was dry and tasted stale. I would not order it again. The Tollhouse pie was a bit better, but the presentation and the whipped cream were the standouts, and the whipped cream wasn't even homemade! That's the best thing I could say about our experience. The food, pricing, service, and ambiance all fell below average. When you are located downtown with so many great dessert options around, you really need to step up your game. We will not be returning.

Instead of cake, our group brought blueberry pies and vanilla ice cream, and the staff graciously took everything to the kitchen, sliced and plated the pie, added generous scoops of ice cream, and even placed birthday candles on each slice. Such a thoughtful touch that made the celebration extra special. The atmosphere along the water made it even better.
