As an Anglophile, Furious George English Ale took me back to pulled pints in London ... I would have definitely bought cans to bring home, but it was sold out. I am not a wheat beer fan, but I was given a taste of theirs which was expertly made. Reuben was great and ample, but BLT with avocado was the star. And the tater tots - so crisp and well fried! Enjoy the people watching and dogs on the front outdoor seating.

We were really looking forward to dinner at Jefferson's, but unfortunately our experience was very…read moredisappointing. The biggest issue was that the restaurant's air conditioning was not working, and no one told us before we were seated. We had made reservations knowing there was a cancellation policy with fees for late cancellations, so once we were seated and had placed our order, we didn't feel comfortable leaving. It wasn't until after our order was taken that our server mentioned the AC was out, although by then it was obvious from how hot and uncomfortable the dining room had become. I want to be clear that this is not a reflection of our server or the staff. They were kind, professional, and I honestly don't know how they were able to work in those conditions. We appreciated the complimentary watermelon and feta salad, but it didn't make up for the overall experience. The meal lasted nearly two hours, with long waits before our order was taken and again before our food arrived. My husband became so overheated that he felt sick and had to leave the table before finishing his dinner, leaving my daughter and me to finish what was supposed to be a family meal alone. When my shrimp and grits finally arrived, they were only lukewarm. My disappointment is really with management. Guests should have been informed about the lack of air conditioning before being seated and offered the choice to dine elsewhere if another venue was available. I was also surprised that no manager came through the dining room to apologize, explain the situation, or thank guests for their patience. Unexpected maintenance issues happen, but clear communication and proactive guest service make all the difference. Unfortunately, that was missing during our visit.

Amazing evening and meal at The Waterwheel…read more We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and grabbed a cocktail and mocktail in the super cute tiny pub bar. Loved the fresh flowers on the tables, and overall vibe of the place - small and intimate. Server invited us to visit the wine cellar, even if we weren't planning on a bottle. She let us know we can take any unfinished wine with us. The experience was super fun - the wine cellar room gives an up close look at the mill equipment. We enjoyed having memories sparked by different wine bottles, and ended up finding a half bottle that was perfect for the occasion. We started with the smoked trout and burrata. For entrees, pea ravioli and pork chop. All expertly prepared and tasty. We were treated to flourless chocolate torte for an anniversary dessert. Highly recommend!

We love to sit at the bar but there are tables and booths for those who don't prefer that. It's very rustic with license plates all over the wall of the bar. I always like my mixed drink. The DJ seemed like he only knew how to play a very select few of songs (the majority which were already overplayed and terrible). The food was subpar. The drinks were a natural disaster in a glass. They were either so strong they would knock the wind out of you after each sip, or they were so weak and flavorless that watered down tea has more flavor. There were hardly any decent people ever up there. Just about everyone there looked/acted like they were hooked on drugs. Fortunately I got rid of my trashy friend and I haven't been back to that place since. If you want decent drinks and music, my suggestion is to build a rock fire pit, make drinks yourself and invite your friends over for a bon fire.

I was already not in the mood for anymore drinking after spending a weekend in a major tournament in Lynchburg. Anyways, for a Saturday evening, this place was pretty packed both inside and outside. Brewery # 445…read more Devil's Backbone is a very large operation it seems. They make beer, the make bourbon, and they make food. They just do them all very slowly or at least they did when I was there. We came here on a Monday evening, and it was somewhat busy but there were visible empty tables and a couple spots at the bar. We went to the bar and waited awhile before the bartender asked what we wanted. I didn't ask for a flight because he seemed too busy. Whatever I wanted they were out of, but I ended up with an Imperial 16-point IPA which was quite tasty. I also got some chicken nachos, but I had to go stand in line to order them. They were adequate but not worth the wait. The place was very disorganized. They had workers always standing by the hostess desk, but the bartender was overwhelmed. Seemed like they should have had more than one, after all it is a brewery. Would have loved to try more beer but we just left and went back into Lexington for another round at another place. I don't know maybe it was just a bad night.
