Arty Party

Arty Party

As parents of two primary school aged kids we get lots of party invites, the majority of which are…read morefor either Llandudno Junction or Ysgol John Bright leisure centres. These are great places for the kids, put a child under ten on a bouncy castle for an hour and they'll be more than satisfied, but as a parent the novelty wears off after thirty or forty visits. So when it was our turn to host we looked for somewhere different and the newly opened Arty Party caught our attention. The business is located on the A470 in the centre of the village of Glan Conwy. At most times on-street parking is easy to find nearby and it's also about sixty seconds walk from the nearest bus stop and just over the road from the railway station. The gallery where the parties are held is not massive but should accommodate a party of up to sixteen or so. Although this is the type of place that will appeal to children there are no age limits so parties of all types and all ages are catered for. As the name suggests the theme here is art and predominantly clay modelling. The party goers can choose from a variety of things to make including ponies, cupcakes and monkeys (there's a more comprehensive list on the website). The models are made from air drying clay and can be taken home at the end of the party, as a nice touch everyone is provided with a plastic container to ensure their models don't get squashed on the way home. There are no catering facilities other than soft drinks and tea/coffee so you'll need to take your own food, although this is the same with the leisure centres. It's excellent value for money, at five pounds a head it worked out cheaper for us than most of the other party venues in the area and everyone had a great time. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a different and affordable party venue. The other aspect of the business is the gallery side. There are a number of models available to purchase with prices starting from a pound. They also make models on commission so if you're looking for an unusual gift you can have a model made of a friend or relative, you'll just need to provide a photo to base the model on.

You can also tke wine their for adult parties. There was a lot of choice as to what you can make and Annie the owner helps you choose. The cost was very impressive at £5 per head as all the other childrens activities are £10 and above. You take your own food and you are given time for the children to eat it after the activities. All the things the children make are put in a plastic box to protect them. Which is good. Parking is ok.Well worth a visit.:)

Its an ideal Family Day out and great fun for Children of all ages. For children its a great opportunity to feed and cuddle the smaller animals, and watch the farmers go about there daily activities - collecting eggs and ploughing the fields. Access is via a rough and ready trail off Nant-y-Gamar Road. Admission these days is free, which you can't complain about, although there are charges for some activities such as pony or tractor rides but these are very reasonable. You can also purchase bags of food to feed the animals. The farm park is precisely what you might imagine a farm park should be with a few extras. You'll find a collection of all the usual suspects including cows, sheep, horses, goats, chickens, ducks and an enormous fat pig called Boris. Less expectedly you'll find deer, llamas, a rhea and a kookabura named Sheila. You can explore the park on foot or take a guided tour on a tractor. The park is also the home of the North Wales Bird Trust where you can visit their bird of prey display. This is great if you like owls as they have a collection of owls of all sizes and from all corners of the planet. There isn't much other than the owls so if you don't like owls you might be disappointed! The park also has a kids play area and a courtyard crammed full of pedal powered tractors. There's also a very nice cafe and bar with an outdoor courtyard which now has a wood fired pizza oven. There's also a function room which is licenced for weddings. Personally I enjoyed my visit although living in a semi-rural area there wasn't much of a novelty for me in seeing cows and sheep in fields. However the kids had a great time and I could imagine that anyone who lives in an urban area would love to get close up with the animals. All in all an enjoyable couple of hours, especially given that admission is free.
