As someone who travels for work, I get to experience new restaurants and eateries quite often. This…read morewas my second time eating at Dal Mondo and the encounter I had this time wasn't all that bad, just mediocre.
The restaurant isn't open on either a Monday or Tuesday night, me and my friend tried both nights, eventually the restaurant opened on the Wednesday night. Unsure if it opens any other night as we didn't spend much time in Traralgon.
The atmosphere is what you would expect from an Italian restaurant in a country city, it's a modern setting trying to hard with the placement of Italian maps, posters, flags and pictures everywhere. Family owned it would seem.
There weren't many other people inside, maybe 8 apart from us. The service was prompt although not entirely friendly to begin with.
We were brought out some water and the glasses that came with the water tasted like espresso coffee, proper cleaning of glasses doesn't seem to be of a concern for Dal Mondo...
The food was good, I ordered the pork ribs marinated also with a side of salad and chips. My friend ordered pasta, penne with sauce that I can't remember what it's called.
He asked for it to be lactose free, this didn't happen when they brought out the food, the chef had to make it again.
The food was basic, almost a staples meal for a restaurant, but it did taste good and that is why this is my second time to Dal Mondo.
The price was on par with a pub meal.
I would recommend coming here, it's family friendly, has an outdoor area, plenty of space. Just don't expect anything special.
