I scheduled an appointment for my dog back in April. Since it was my first time working with this…read moregroomer, she told me she had no openings until early June. I decided to wait for the appointment, but when I arrived today, she told me I wasn't on her calendar. What was most disappointing was that she never apologized, made any effort to look into what happened, or offered to reschedule. Instead, she was dismissive and rude throughout the interaction. Even though the mistake was clearly on her end, she showed no concern for the inconvenience it caused. I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and customer service. Unfortunately, this was a very negative first experience, and I would not recommend this groomer based on how the situation was handled.

Even though my dog is difficult, she is always welcoming. The other employees are also friendly and understanding of my dog's needs. Whenever we walk in we are kindly greeted and whoever is at the front desk will go get Amanda for us without even needing to ask! My dog is a very anxious pup, we have been kicked out and turned away from other groomers. I was bringing him to the vet for his nails for a while but it was very inconvenient with their business hours and honestly the vet even struggled with him. Amanda is confident and caring with my dog which is exactly what he needs. A million thanks to Amanda and the Dog House!

Extremely Disappointed - No Patience for Puppies or Professionalism…read more Honestly, this has been the worst daycare experience I've ever had--and I work at a vet clinic, so I'm familiar with the standards of care and behavior management expected around animals. On just my puppy's second half-day, I received a call saying he was being kicked out due to "anxiety." He's a 5-month-old puppy, still learning, and yes--he chews, like all puppies do. Instead of redirecting that behavior or giving him any sort of chance to adjust, the manager claimed he was "destroying property" by chewing the fence and decided he was not a good fit. I was told he was pacing and not playing with other dogs. But pacing doesn't necessarily mean anxiety, and he has never shown signs of anxiety in the month we've had him. In fact, during his first visit, the staff said he was sweet, well-behaved, and even called him their favorite. So which is it? It felt like a complete 180 overnight--with no attempt to work with him, redirect behaviors, or help him settle in. Puppies need time, patience, and structure--not to be written off after one or two short visits. The experience leads me to believe that the staff, especially the manager, may lack the proper training or understanding needed to support puppies still in their developmental stages. I truly hope they consider additional training in animal behavior and communication--because right now, it seems more about convenience than care.

When I made my dogs appointment for grooming I called the dedham location. Once booked, they never…read moreinformed me that the location I called doesn't do grooming and that I'd have to go to their other location in Jamaica plain. I drove 30 minutes to get to the Durham location just for them to tell me that I have to drive 30 minutes in the opposite direction. When I arrived at the correct location, the lady who I spoke to about how I wanted my dogs haircut to look seemed a bit ignorant like she knew nothing about dog haircuts. I showed her a picture of how I wanted my dog to look. They also said that they don't brush dogs teeth which is odd. Never been to a dog salon that doesn't brush the dogs teeth. We were originally told it would take 2 hours and it took almost 3 for my dog to be done. Upon picking up my dog, the lady behind the front desk told my sister and I that the groomer is new and only has under a YEAR of experience. Why wouldn't they tell me that prior to getting my dog groomed? I don't want a rookie to give my dog a botched haircut(which she did) but by this point it was too late. Also, when entering the store, it smells horrible like mildew. My dog came out, his hair choppy and the final result didn't look anything like the photo that I showed the lady( she took a picture of what I showed her so there shouldn't have been any confusion) The sweater I had him wearing was covered in fur, as if they cut his hair with the sweater on. I had to request my leash and collar back from them. Anyways, the people behind the front desk were sticking their faces in front of my dogs face so that he could lick them, letting them kiss their mouth which is honestly gross and not something I want to see. Overall, unhappy with how my dog turned out. Will not be returning.
