Our experience with Southern Sensations Dance Studio has been absolutely amazing. We changed…read morestudios a couple of years ago due to an incredibly toxic environment at our past studio which honestly left us thinking about quitting dance all together. However, The owner at SSDS opened our eyes to how a truly positive experience dance can and should be. My girls have flourished under the guidance of the caring, professional, and encouraging teachers and staff at SSDS. In just a couple of years we saw dramatic improvement in their technical capabilities and in their confidence within themselves. Dance is so much more than just physical skills and the teachers and staff focus on the entire dancer to include the mental side as well. There are a lot of studios to choose from in this area and we've visited or know people at a lot of them. SSDS stands apart in their compassion, inclusiveness, and diversity for sure. Their teachers routinely get additional training and are always looking for ways to push and improve the dancers. We highly recommend SSDS!! They are professional, caring, and have a created a wonderfully positive environment for all dancers!!

Non company dancers are ignored or outright bullied in some cases. They just lost several of their best teachers. There are way too many other better studios in town with professional dancers who also care about all their students and are not stuck in the late 90s or early 2000s (not inclusive at all).

I took my first class and was a little lost, but within a week or two, I was dancing along with most of the songs! The instructors are all so sweet and welcoming. You are having so much fun that you don't realize that you are sweating! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!!!!

I took the free one week, and went to several classes. Trying to learn the moves, I would start out at the front, and them somehow would get nudged out by the other dancers, winding up towards the back. One dancer noticed this and said, you really need to stay up front to learn the moves. This "nudging out" happened in different classes with 3 different instructors. These instructors should have made note of new people in the class, and invite us to the front to better learn the moves. This did not happen because these people are nurses, attorneys, etc. and not instructors at all.

My niece is 4 years old and is enrolled in ballet and loves Cinderella and all things princess. My sister called to see about tickets and information and was treated with the upmost respect and kindness. Turned out for the price of $30/ticket we were able to get a special package. It was the Royal Ball package. My niece was able to dress as her favorite princess, go on stage with all the other little ones for a princess parade, meet the characters, had pictures made by a professional photographer with Cinderella (which we received free of charge with the package 5x7), we were served royal refreshments (glass slipper cookies, fruit, cheeses, and punch), and all the children received a goody bag with a glass slipper keepsake. It was amazing. They also give each child a week worth of free classes at their ballet school. The staff were all above and beyond what is required. They greeted all the children and adults with special thanks and appreciation. My niece definitely got the royal treatment! She loved being addressed as princess (which all the staff did). The performance was second to none. The acts were brilliantly placed and the ballet was beautiful. I have never been to a ballet program, only plays, but this show was great! Even though it had no words or talking the picture was perfectly clear. Would highly recommend this show and I am looking forward to watch another!

If there is an issue it has always been handled professionally and in private. Our oldest is a boy and with that comes certain challenges when he dances with all girls! Kelly, her staff and the other parents have been awesome to be around and have welcomed our son with open arms! He has learned so much and has a blast doing it!! Our youngest has just started and she loves it as well. She is doing great. Kelly works with all of the beginners and shows how much patience and understanding you need with little kids under 6 trying to get them to learn dance moves while teaching them and having fun at the same time. Now, during these CORONA Virus times. They reduced fees and offered options for those hit hard. In fact they sent us postcards wishing us well, along with coloring pages for each kid. They have had classes nonstop with online feed and have not charged us a penny! I feel this goes to show you how much she cares for the people in her dance classes. If you have a child who moans and groans going to practice that is on the teacher(s) not making that fun and educational. When it comes to taking our two kids to dance that is never the case. Thank you Kelly Nave, and staff for having us in your dance family and showing us your love and patience as a teacher and leader. Thomas Thomson Father of Nate and Ellie
