I signed up for the news tribute and thought I had canceled it until I had someone call me the next…read moremonth saying that I owe them like four dollars... I told them I am not doing that and I am not giving them my card information over the phone and they have being calling me ever since. This morning really crossed a line as they called me at 6 AM. I have only logged onto their website one time to find out about my friend's death. This has been honestly the most truly annoying experience I've had with anybody collecting a debt let alone under 5$ . I had to block their phone number because that's how often I was getting phone calls. And the news article didn't even say much about what actually happened. I was better off finding information on Facebook.

We pay for the new Tribune six days a week. We might get a three days a week. The delivery is…read moreawful. They show up late. My husband's already left for work. He usually likes to take the paper with him to work so when it comes, it's no good to us. They charge a phenomenal amount over $60 a month and they want you to pay two months in advance even if you're on Social Security it's always been one problem after the other and we've been with them over 25 years. It's never gotten any better and never probably will. also, when you call to make a payment, you're getting somebody who's sitting in their kitchens with chicken clucking in the background as they're working from home and you're giving this person. You're a personal debit card number and three digit code on the back and half the time the news of you know nothing about the payment and then all of a sudden you get a $200 bill in the mail from the Tribune. This is terrible. The bookkeeping department needs to shape up. It's not working for me.

If you are thinking about booking The Press Room for an event do it- in fact do it right now then…read morecome back so I can tell you why. Ok now that you've booked it let me tell you what to expect: top notch service and communication. Linda and her team make you feel like your event is the only one in the world. Emails are responded to quickly with questions answered or suggestions based on events they've done before The day of your event the staff is there helping you with set up, logistics etc. Whatever we asked for Linda was able to provide quickly and with a smile -- including the ribbon for my daughter's corset dress which somehow got misplaced between the hotel and the Press Room. Linda rescued us with a roll of ribbon and the bride was able to walk down the aisle! In the walk through we mentioned a certain wine that we like, hoping it would be one they served. It wasn't but Linda bought a few bottles just for us! Food is top notch - the pork chops were so tender you could cut them with the side of your fork and the scalloped potatoes were fantastic The servers and bar staff were so professional and everything went so smoothly. They make it a magical evening. The venue is so beautiful and unique. Our guests could not stop raving about it! You'll be so glad you decided to have your event at The Press Room

I'll admit, I've called this paper "The Comical" before, like many other people…read more In truth, this paper has done a decent job as a community paper. I'm not an employee. This is not a good review based on any obligated loyalties. I'm not even a subscriber; based on where I live and work, it makes more sense to subscribe to The Olympian. But I whenever I visit parents in Centralia, I love sitting down with this paper and getting my read on! I'm at odds with many things The Chronicle does. Their editorial board is made up only of their bigwigs. There is no community representative like a lot of different papers have. Also, their advertising person is on the editorial board. That's what I consider a huge journalistic taboo. What's driving your editorial opinion? Someone looking out for a bottom line? Of course that always plays into things. But to have them on the board itself. Nah. But this paper has done a decent job staying afloat in times where other newspapers are closing down. And little by little, even the bigger papers are shrinking their size. After the Chronicle did it a few years back, I think there were some people who probably put the heat on. But now, the paper must feel some vindication that they were front-runners on a smart business decision. The paper has done a better job with feel-good features, which is what a community paper should be about. And the sports section has dramatically improved with a young, go-getter sports editor. Doing live, play-by-play on Chronline.com for football was a great thing. Doing it for b-ball would be great. They're not their yet. Perhaps someday. Politically, their endorsements lean very conservative. They like to pretend they don't and like to point out their more middle-of-the-road conservatism. But I'm still impressed when they have the you-know-what to endorse someone who might not be a front-runner (for example, Neal Kirby a year-and-a-half ago). Again, I no longer live in an area I feel the Chronicle serves. But within the area it DOES serve, it does a decent job. And when I say I enjoy reading the paper at the in-laws when I visit, perhaps that's the best compliment I can give.

Available on line but they want you to pay.....crazy! The cost of their ads are too expensive either being commercial or personal. I put in a help wanted ad for a week that cost me over $300.00...what's up with that? Would love to have another local daily paper...if there was I would not read "The Comical"
