She listened to all of my concerns about my overprocessed hair, gave me her guidance and recommendations, and then proceeded to give me the exact look I was hoping for! I decided to go here after finding a coupon in the local paper. I currently have balayage and only need a touch up on my roots (i have a few grey hairs i wanted covered) This "older" stylist obviously didnt know what balayage was, because she proceeded to tell me how grown out my hair was. I thought to myself, i spent almost $300 at a high end salon for that, dont you know what balayage is??? So, she proceeds to put color all over my hair, not just my roots. Completely ruining my balayage. I will never set foot in the awful establishment where stylists arent up to date with the current trends. They are so obnoxious and rude, not professional at all! If i could give ZERO stars i would. read more

i can here and got my hair done by amanda and it was awful she was rude to me the whole time, wouldn't do what i wanted her to do with my hair. the place was nasty looking she had no clean combs or brushes they were all full of hair, stateboard should really be called to come check this place out it's awful. i will be contacting them about amanda! read more

I have never written a poor review about an establishment before. After being a client of Nicole P for 3 years I do not allow anyone to touch my hair. She is always amazing sweet and respectful. This review is not about her it's about how the staff at The Cutting Room treated their clients. Each time I wld arrive for my appointment I was never greeted with a smile. There was always side chat from the up front staff. I have witnessed the owner Gerry be unprofessional to her staff. The way she spoke to Nicole and the other staff was very inappropriate. I was uncomfortable at times. As a client you think that she wld say hello to ALL the customers there. From experience I have been noticed by the owner of an establishment and that feels nice to be acknowledged. I have gotten my hair done here for years (on and off, I've always tried out different salons) but I tried out someone new this time. Kirsten was so sweet, from the day I made the appointment with her to the moment I left. She kept a conversation going the whole time, which I've found hard to find in salons. She was relatable and funny - and did MAGIC to my hair. I've never left a salon feeling so confident before. She answered every question I had, and even showed me how to blow out my own hair. I went there a few weeks ago. I called ahead to make an appointment. I had an important engagement the next day after my haircut and I needed it. I unfortunately missed the call that they canceled at the last minute. When I did go there, the receptionist told me that if I did want a haircut then and there that day, it would be a wait. Not a problem. There were other 2 ladies cutting that were finishing up and sitting there talking and doing nothing when they were done, but I was still sitting their waiting. When finally I was told to go in the back. I noticed another lady there waiting for her haircut and I felt bad and the woman cutting my hair had another appointment at the time they squeezed me in. So, the whole time I was sitting there, I had a customer stare me down and pissed off because it was her turn and I was making her wait. It would have been smart if they offered tea or coffee like other salons. They aren't there just yet. I said I just needed a trim to be quick and get something done atleast. The hairdresser spritzed my hair with a water bottle and trimmed it in 10 minutes..that was it. That was fine...I needed the trim atleast. The worst thing about though is when I went to pay, they charged me more than what they advertised for a regular haircut with actually being shampood washed and blow dried. I paid at the front desk watching the other 2 hairdressers continue to sit and do nothing on the other side. I won't go back to a hair salon where it's ran by people who don't know how to run it properly and swindle. Don't charge me extra because your doing me a favor and cutting my hair either. I only gave the second star because my hairdresser was nice. If she works in another salon, I'll go to that one instead. This isn't the only salon on long island. read more

This place was probably the worst salon I have ever seen! I did not get my hair cut here but my friend did about 1 week ago. My friend wanted me to write this review because they do not have yelp and I have strong opinions about this place. FIRST of all, the hair was uneven and the fact that my friend literally CRIED and got on the phone with me once they got home from this MONSTROSITY OF A SALON says a lot about this place. I will say the salon was very clean from the pictures that I saw but I expect better from a place that charges you this much for horrible hair. And another thing, like I said this place charges so much and the workers barley even tried to fix up my friends hair. I am honestly disgusted and me, my family, and my friends will NEVER be going to this HORRIBLE SALON!!!!! And btw, if I could give this place a 0 star rating I definitely would. I visited the cutting room today I went in for highlights color and a cut. Since it was my first time of course I was nervous but after meeting the receptionist I knew this place was going to be great. I went to this salon on a recommendation. I had an appointment with Lisa and after we chose my color (I also do hair and know what I'm doing) it came out HORRIBLE! she has NO CLUE how to mix color and the owner then is explaining to her about the color chart and what she should have done. I asked them to "fix it" and it didn't work. My hair is brown and the roots are copper! The owner then says its fine it matches the rest. She'll be fine.... um nooo! Went to the chair to get my cut and it's crooked! she rushed thru so she can do her mother's hair and all the while the staff stands around chatting and being blatantly loud and rude. Waste of money and time especially that I need to get it all fixed! read more

I have been going to this establishment for almost three years now. I do a half-head of foils about every 6 weeks. I had an appointment this Friday for the same service as I always receive . After my hair was finished I went to pay. I told the receptionist I had a half-head of foils and she proceeded to tell me that I did not (so at that point she was telling me that I was lying and trying to "pull something over" on her). I told her that this is the service that I have received since I started coming into the salon. Well apparently she didn't believe me and she went to get the owner. The owner then came up to me and explained the difference between a full-head and a half-head of foil. Telling me that the price I am paying is for a half-head. It was a very embarrassing situation in front of other customers. They were treating me like I didn't want to pay for services rendered. I asked for a half-head if what I received was a full-head it is not my doing. I have had my hairdresser for years and I am sorry I will no longer be able to go to her but I will not go back to an establishment that treats their customers as such. There were much better ways to handle this situation. I know I worked in customer service. The owner should have handled this much differently. read more

My experience here was never relaxing, the only amazing part about it was my hair dresser Nicole, who always went out of her way to make sure I was happy. But, she is NO LONGER there!!! This last time, I waited almost an hour past my scheduled appointment while they took care of friends. Once it was my turn - I felt like my haircut was being rushed through (and that was by the owner of the salon). And it didn't come out the way it should have.
