I had spotted this place on previous drives through Mllford, which appears to be going through something of a transformation from sleepy retirement village to new home to 30-something professionals and their families - hence, presumably, the arrival of several new cafes and a couple of new barbers. Still, I thought I'd be safe to walk in just after 9.15 on a Saturday morning with my twin 13 year old sons (having previously enquired and found out they only take walk-ins on the weekend). But there were already 5 guys ahead of us! (Possible they'd just finished watching Game 1 of the RWC & decided to pop in for a trim while they were out.) Anyway, no worries - left the boys happily ensconced on the couch with the Playstation at the back of hte shop and slipped off to grab a coffee and hit the ATM after spotting the sign that said they don't have Eft-Pos. By the time I got back one of the boys was in the chair with T (Ted?) and within 20 mins the other one was next up with MIchael, the owner (?). Both these guys are great - low-key but very personable and great at talking to the boys about the cuts they wanted, what they were up to for the weekend etc. Even though there was always a couple of guys waiting, both cutters took their time, using a number of different clippers and alternating with scissors & comb. We were still out of there in under an hour, including waiting time, and all for the bargain price of $20 each. The boys got exactly the cuts they wanted and I can thoroughly recommend this place - cool decor, nice guys, hip but not (too) hipster - 10/10. ;p read more
