Number 44 is modern-esque despite its location, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The soup of the day, which was curried cauliflower, was scrumptious and perfectly accompanied with the soft bread. The pesto panini was also a delight and filled to the brim. The Wolfhouse café is part of small 'Wolfhouse' complex of converted outbuildings and wooden cabins also comprising a gift shop, a gallery, and a quirky garden with children's play area. The gallery was shut on our January visit, but everything that was open was in the best possible taste and oozing a relaxed charm. Although only going on one visit, the culinary firepower here seems to be beyond outstanding! Ignore the fact that their website lacks contact details or even an address - this is probably just them being arty! My friend had a salted caramel slice, which I also tried and it was good. But my cake worked for me on a whole lot of levels - the colours, sweet-savoury flavours, the textures - see photo. I note that the pâtisserie list on The Wolfhouse website just goes on and on and on, with 20-30 items on the list advertised as being available each day. This quote from their 'Savouries' webpage sums up the cheerfully inventive spirit, "When we run out of one thing, we find something else to cook. Simple! It's just so much more fun that way!" With so much inventive spirit, plus everything so well-sourced and made from scratch, I think we can safely say that this 30-seater café is a better option for the serious foodie than a lot of fine dining places. We hid from the rain this little cafe and ordered some excellent fry ups. Two of us had the standard English breakfast while Dan went for the large version which contained a serious amount of meat. I really enjoyed mine. The line up was scrambled egg (you get to choose you egg type), sausage, bacon, black pud, beans, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown and toast. My toast could have been more toasted (it was still pretty much bread) but everyone else's looked good so I think it was a blip. I had a latte too which was good. It's waitress service to order but they were not in any rush to come over so if you are hungry I'd suggest heading up to the counter.

Easily accessible off the a1 with free parking and I can even do my weekly food shopping in the farm shop. The thing i love the most about brambles coffee shop are the daily specials and the brambles club sandwich. this place has a wonderful atmosphere, not like you usual fast food coffee shops, more like a restaurant but with very cheap prices. you can eat and drink for under £5 easily and be well fed with huge portions. In summer you can not beat sitting outside in the sunshine at brambles. this place can get extremely busy and must do tremendously well. thats why they have decided to build a large extension i suppose but it just shows what good friendly service, good comfy atmosphere and good value tasty food can do.
