My grandmother's words, "I refuse to marry a rancher and get worked to feath." Her mother died on the new Texas place when Grandma was 11. Grandma went on with her sister and brothers, homesteading in New Mexico and Colorado. She finally settled with her brother in Iola, Kansas with the brother that broke his leg so badly falling off the New barn roof his dad sent him to optician school. His generations followed him into the trade. Born in Los Angeles, living on the edges, I made a career in the rural west. CENEX has been most places I have. I now live in Central Phoenix, AZ. Their fuel pumps are open when the main store opens. We fueled here July 12th and 13th, 2024. I didn't quite fill the tank on the 12th. We returned in daylight hours to top off - and step inside. Our nation is divided. Most people live in cities, obsessed with their tiny circles of life. They know nothing of rural life, making a living from the soil, the most Ancient hunting and fishing lifeways or guns for more than imagined threats generated by endless entertainment crime shows. This store is a VERY cool place. Mostly heavy duty, practical, useful items for work and wear. A total inventory for the outdoor people feeding and entertaining themselves hunting and fishing. Anyone can find useful items for work, wear or repair. The rural few need a little respect from the urban many. That's where food grows, that's where God lives. That's where it will take a very long time to create alternative machines that work and travel in country places.

The young man at the counter gave us red tape to mark the rock we wanted. We went out and marked the rocks and he asked that we come back in when we were done to tell him which five rocks we put the red tape on. Then after all that, he told us they would try to get to them today, to weigh them, and that they are very busy today. We explained we weren't from the area and needed to pick the rock up today. We also called a bit after we left to check on the progress and were again told how busy they are today. Several hours later we received a voice message that said they don't sell the rocks separately. When we called called back to talk to someone, we were told the rocks were not sold separately and we had to buy the whole pallet for $4,000. We told them that we felt the communication of misinformation was unprofessional. We didn't get a chance to explain further as the woman on the phone laughed at our remark. To not explain the process correctly in the beginning, we feel also wasted our time and has stalled our landscaping project. I am going to tell everyone I know in Butte not to use Wagner's.

I sped from work to make it in time to pick up a gallon of paint. They close at 5:30. I arrived at…read more5:18 and was picking out the color (already had it selected but needed the number) and an older woman saw me and said, "I'm shutting down the paint machine," as she walked by me and made it CLEAR as she looked right at me, that she saw me, as she also stated she was going to turn off the lights, but left them on for me. It takes less than 5 min to mix paint (I've bought many gallons here) and I tried my best to make it in time to get what I needed. As I approached the counter and held up the paint chip, she said, "I've shut it down." I then said, "I sped from work to get here on time. I really wanted to get the color." I turned to walk away and she said, "Fine. Just give it to me." Her demeanor and posturing made it obvious that she wasn't wanting to help me and, let's be honest- there was no way I wanted to be near her negative energy. She had more than 10 minutes to help me get my paint before closing.. So- sorry- Ace won't get my paint business anymore, at least if she is around.

Just a couple months ago, I shared with both the owner, Pat & Marsha, one of the propane burners they were carrying was faulty, and promptly got YELLED at with them sayin, "It's NOT our concer....". What business would not be concerned with a dangerous product they were knowingly selling? And what prompted me today: my wife just returned from their store in tears declaring, "I just go yelled at for trying to find the epoxy you wanted! I'm never going back!" ACE HARDWARE Corp would benefit finding someone to take over this store and until they do, I'll be getting my supplies at 316, Beaverhead Home Center, Murdoch's or Rocky Mtn Supply.
