On the schedule move day, they contacted me requesting to begin the move earlier than planned. The sofa was new and difficult to maneuver, which is why I chose to hire professional movers. During the move, the crew appeared rushed and were complaining about being hungry. After the move was completed, I discovered that the fabric on the top of the sofa had been torn on a door strike plate. The movers acknowledged the damage, apologized, and accepted responsibility. The damaged area is part of the sofa's fixed framework and not a removable cushion. I was initially offered a settlement to repair the damage. However, since that time, all attempts to follow up or collect on the agreed settlement have gone unanswered.
