I had my hair cut and colored with Laura who was able to explain her chosen techniques in a way I could understand and I felt very comfortable every step of the way. Chris immediately sat me down and we discussed what look, cut and colour I was looking for. He took his time to explain exactly step by step what he was going to do. In my experience a lot of hairdressers rush through your hair trying to get to the next client. Not here. He took his time and I felt listened to. The result was a perfect blonde and the cut was perfect. At last I found my hairdresser! Will be back.

It was the first time I'd paid that amount, and it was also the first time I was offered a cup of tea whilst getting my hair cut. New experiences, huh? I guess that's what it comes down to - not only a product, but also an experience. Maybe more so for girls than guys, I'm not sure. But you get both at Velvet and Brown, and I suppose I should expect it, as I paid 250% of what I hoped to pay. But what really counts is - was I happy? ... Yes. I think so. I'm too fickle about hair cuts. I'm never fully happy, nor fully disgruntled. But yes, Velvet and Brown has my tick of approval. You get what you pay for I suppose. I paid more, and I received some quality treatment. Maybe others know more about "quality hair treatment" than I do? What do you think?

Moda Hair salon is seriously over-priced. They offer a range of options including extensions, straightening, highlights and your standard cut/colour/blow dry. Each one will leave a deep dent in your wallet, and a twinge of regret in your mind. Moda's pricing scheme also baffles me. I understand the child/ adult price range you encounter in most places (e.g. adult haircut= $20, child haircut= $10). But Moda's child/ teenager/ adult price differences seem a little weird. This pricing scheme means a cut, colour and blow-dry with cost $85 for teenagers, and $98 for adults. As well as the steep prices, service is slow, and employees often seem totally uninterested in what they're doing. Moda Hair does not offer the superior services their prices suggest. They should either lower their prices, or increase the quality of their services.
