Excellent espresso! Not only were the drinks amazing but the atmosphere and service were top notch! Great little find.

I recently stayed in OB for a week, visiting from the east coast. My mother and I walked to find coffee our first morning there and stumbled upon The Coffee Method. We had the friendliest greeting by the woman behind the counter. She was bubbly and had great recommendations for what we should try. Risking being labeled basic, we went with the pumpkin spice latte made with pumpkin purée and three shots of espresso. It was amazing! We then visited every morning to get our coffees and chat about the day before. I feel horrible that I did not get her name but recommended her shop to every ride share driver we had and guest that we were visiting. Her coffees take time so plan on being in the shop for a few minutes. They're worth it!! read more

This place is the best. Takes a few minutes to get your individually brewed french press cup but it is well worth it. I drive 10 minutes to get this cup over the hundreds of coffee shops by my house. Robert is super cool - I really want to people to find this place because it is on a side street. i swear I don't work for him - just love it and want it to do well because Robert is great and because I am afraid this place will disappear and I wont be able to get my ethiopian french press :) read more

Don't go here. It takes forever and I don't know if I caught him on a bad day - but the guy at the counter was not as awesome to me as he was to other reviewers. It's wildly over priced, a little pretentious, and takes did I mention it takes forrrrrrever? Ya, I did. The bagels are good though. read more

I wanted to make sure I'd been a couple of times to make sure it wasn't too good to be true, but not only is the coffee here strong and delicious, the man knows his craft. His descriptions of the different bean varieties are spot on and his coffee is damn near perfect. I always get the french press and it's incredible. There are very few places in San Diego that serve anything close to this, but I'd say his is far and away the best. On top of that - great attitude without any of that hipster BS a lot of the other coffee shops dole out. Don't see any reason to go anywhere else. read more

Best latte in Ocean Beach! This shop is a coffee haven for true coffee lovers with a variety of brew methods. I've lived in OB for 10 years and have been waiting for a place like this! There are many options in this little beach community but The Coffee Method is where you can find a well-brewed, full-bodied, delicious cup of coffee without the frills. Best coffee I've found in OB after 2 years of searching. Robert's pour over coffee is among the top three cups I've had. His iced toddy style is the best I've tasted. I went here this morning for a quick latte on my way to the beach. Back home we have an amazing coffee scene so it's hard to beat but this spot holds up to any coffee I can get back home. The owner Robert is truly an artisan. His coffee is exquisite. Very high quality coffee beans combined with exceptional brewing techniques. There are some good coffee shops in OB but I daresay this may be the best. Some nice Paleo snacks on hand also but this place is about quality coffee. read more

This place is just about great coffee. If you're looking for a great cup of coffee -- I drink it black and enjoy the flavor of coffee -- this is the place. The service I experienced was pleasant, my coffee drink was made quickly & tasted very good. I like that there is a comfy couch inside, the atmosphere is clean and made fragrant & visually pleasing because they share their space with a flower shop. Look no further than here for great espresso in OB. I live in Seattle and am used to very high-quality, snob-level espresso from our local Great Ones (not the SBUX monster). Robert at The Coffee Method sources his beans and picks his roaster carefully, knows how to pull a beautiful, rich and consistent shot, and makes superb (one size only!) cappuccinos with a nice thick foam. His almost-monastically-spare operation shares space with a flower shop and has a couple comfortable couches and armchairs for seating. Love him for the focus on quality coffee in an unpretentious atmosphere. He is the best I've had in SoCal and I think he's even better than most of the local joints in Seattle. read more

San Diego is not known for its coffee, and a good cup is hard to come by. The Coffee Method is a gem. They keep the menu small and simple and they KNOW perfection. Their cappuccino is the best I've found in Ocean Beach. If you live in the area and you don't want to go to North Park or La Jolla to find something worth while, you are in luck. I had a drip coffee and a blueberry muffin. the coffee was okay, but the muffin was pretty terrible. it tasted like poundcake and only had a handful of blueberries. they should step up their bakery and then this place would be a lot better. read more

Maybe we came in on one the baristas bad days, but the service was not friendly ( as I've read in other reviews ) he actually seemed rather annoyed that we walked in. The place seems like a community staple so maybe being the newbie in town I just don't get the vibe in the shop, but The last thing I want is to be treated like an inconvenience when I'm paying you for something you're offering/selling ! If you're not big on customer service, hire someone who is. The coffee is legitimately good, far better than Starbucks, but at least there they make you feel like they appreciate your business ! Been going here recently and the coffee is good, however the service is typically rude. The guy behind the counter is typically rude and in a bad mood. If you don't know anything about coffee you will be made to feel dumb. For being the most expensive coffee ever made, I would rather go somewhere that I am greeted with a smile. read more
